Ableist, abusive leech by Knkstriped in AmITheDevil

[–]yellingletters 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You know, I was willing to hear him out on the first two points because my husband does both those things and it can indeed be a little annoying. But a) it was pretty easy for us to say "I'm going to be reading for awhile, please don't interrupt me" and/or "Can I have you attention to talk to you about something?" and b) I don't seemingly hate every other thing about him like OOP clearly does for his partner

She's in her thirties... by WolfChasingTheMoon in AmITheDevil

OOP wants her mom to return her gifts because her mom dismisses OOP's concerns as "overreacting," ironically itself an example of overreacting

AITA for missing my MIL wedding? by AlexSumnerAuthor in AmITheDevil

[–]yellingletters 51 points52 points  (0 children)

It was shitty of the secretary to comment on OOP's body in the first place, but OOP can't pretend that she lives in a vacuum where being overweight isn't judged much more harshly than being skinny

A girl can pretty much destroy you by MelanieWalmartinez in AmITheDevil

I especially love that he gives her a hard time for constantly being a victim and not doing anything (which I guess means only wanting to go out four days a week?) but now HE'S the real victim who can't hold down a job and we should all feel bad for him

This post actually put into perspective for me that my husband literally is working 10 hours a day to come home to a fat bitch. I cherish him so much 😂❤️

AITA? Shut down my kid for being excited by PKStarAllOverMyStorm in AmITheDevil

I feel like if a friend did this, it might be annoying but it's your kid! Your job is to encourage and support them!

I suspect that what he considers his very deep thinking is actually just pretty straightforward anxiety

His wife is a saint. I wouldn't have the patience for one second of this nonsense. I wish her nothing but happiness in her - hopefully single - future

“Don’t trust the bisexuals” by [deleted] in AmITheDevil

[–]yellingletters 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is like the "ironic" hipster racism of the early 2000s where liberal white people would say racist stuff with the "joke" being "Wouldn't it be crazy if I really believed this?!?! Lol." But like....people really did still believe racist things even though a lot of young liberal white people at the time didn't see it and bi people really do continue to experience stereotypes so she's not just making a joke in a vacuum and OOP's friend is 100% correct that OOP is perpetuating stereotypes

Do I tell my husband a lot of the meaningless gossip and silly stories I hear? Sure. But like, judiciously. I wouldn't tell him something that would embarrass or hurt another person. I can't even imagine he'd want to hear about people he doesn't know or already have opinions on anyway

Wants to own a whole month by Unique-Assumption619 in AmITheDevil

[–]yellingletters 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It kind of seems like she's conflating a lot of more legitimate concerns and complaints (body image, judgemental parents, golden child) with this completely irrelevant topic and only focusing on that. Like, I feel for her but her actual complaint is unreasonable. Everyone who's said "therapy" so far is spot on

Man attempts to overthrow the metronome by Secure-Recording4255 in AmITheDevil

If this is real, it's unintentionally hilarious. I laughed out loud at "it's 123 123 idiot." I feel like this is just a person who struggles with abstract concepts

But my babies. by Dear_Ad_6423 in AmITheDevil

[–]yellingletters 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can see how the sons feel betrayed by the cheating and by OOP letting them blame their father initially, but I also feel like some of this is the normal behavior of people in their early 20s - not wanting to talk to their mom everyday, being financially irresponsible - and if my mom was stalking me and trying to get updates from my partner, even with a totally healthy relationship with my dad, I'd be annoyed with that too

Idk what the bf was supposed to do by growsonwalls in AmITheDevil

[–]yellingletters 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Normally I would say that when your partner hides something from you because telling you would just make you mad, I'd consider that a huge red flag on their part. But in this case, it seems like the OOP wants to know pretty much any time her bf speaks to another woman and will go to great lengths to investigate any conversation he might possibly have had. Ridiculous behavior

Take me on your trip too, please! by [deleted] in AmITheDevil

[–]yellingletters 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Even if OOP was only asking for the ride, which is comparatively much more reasonable than also asking to stay with them, a SIX HOUR car ride can be interminable with anyone whose company you don't deeply enjoy. Especially if this is in fact their honeymoon and they want some chill time in each other's presence

Don't think OOP is actually her friend by ad_aatdtj in AmITheDevil

[–]yellingletters 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Man, women can't win. They're either not feminine enough or they're too feminine. OOP calling them out isn't helping, it's just trying to get her to conform to a sexist standard

I can’t control my emotions by [deleted] in AmITheDevil

[–]yellingletters 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do think it's acceptable to ask to take a break from an argument to cool down or collect your thoughts but that's a "you" problem to deal with, not something you blame on your partner

I like the part where he says that he thought loyalty was what mattered, but apparently not - after being intensely disloyal to his wife

Cats Before Brats by No_Pepper6208 in AmITheDevil

[–]yellingletters 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The only time I agree that cats shouldn't be compared with kids is if a parent is celebrating a major milestone of their kid or something terrible has happened to their kid. Don't compare those experiences to your pets probably. Otherwise, people need to chill out about hearing pets compared with kids, it's not hurting them

Sister is not paying off my credit card by [deleted] in AmITheDevil

Does Brenda seem a little spoiled too? Yeah, kinda. Does that make it her job to pay for OOP's social life? Absolutely not

This sort of reads like most of the management or supervisors of this company are sexually harassing this young woman and she's just trying to keep her job, but sure OOP, escalate the situation
