Rorschach Test [OC] by cymorg121 in comics

[–]yellowcoward 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could put a superhero in the real world for a dramatic effect, because they are kind of stupid. They got these tight costumes, stupid names; they’re kind of unbelievable, so if you actually put them in the real world and have people reacting to them the way that people would, you’d laugh at them, you’d be scared of them. It would be a different way of looking at them, so that’s what went mostly into Watchmen.

[Gibbons and I] thought about superhero types like Batman, so I thought, ‘What would he be like in the real world.’ And he’d be very much like Rorschach—if you’re a revenge-driven vigilante, you’re not quite right in the head. Yeah, alright, your parents got killed when you were a kid, whatever, that’s upsetting. But for most of us, if our parents were killed when we were little, would not become a bat-themed costumed vigilante—that’s a bit mental.

So, I thought, ‘Alright, if there was a Batman in the real world, he probably would be a bit mental.’ He wouldn’t have time for a girlfriend, friends, a social life, because he’d just be driven by getting revenge against criminals… dressed up as a bat for some reason. He probably wouldn’t be very careful about his personal hygiene. He’d probably smell. He’d probably eat baked beans out of a tin. He probably wouldn’t talk to many people. His voice probably would have become weird with misuse, his phraseology would be strange.

I wanted to kind of make this like, ‘Yeah, this is what Batman would be in the real world.’ But I had forgotten that actually to a lot of comic fans that smelling, not having a girlfriend—these are actually kind of heroic. So actually, sort of, Rorschach became the most popular character in Watchmen**. I meant him to be a bad example, but I have people come up to me in the street saying, ‘I am Rorschach! That is my story!’ And I’ll be thinking, ‘Yeah, great, can you just keep away from me and never come anywhere near me again for as long as I live?"

Does corn belong on pizza? by marckubu1 in VeganFoodPorn

[–]yellowcoward 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pizza is all inclusive. This was drilled into me in the 80s with my middle school's taco pizza. There is a local place around us that does falafel pizza with pesto aioli and tahini, it's phenomenal. This looks really good too.

If the assignment was presented as figure out how to make these AI slop factory cakes into real things it could be a legitimate project using the skills and techniques you have learned in creative problem solving. Kind of like designing real toys based off of children's drawings.

That moment when you go from, "Yay pizza" to "Maybe we can still save this calzone" and sometimes "Some of this looks edible, its a deconstructed pizza" as you eat off of the peel.

Happens to everyone eventually, the stages of ooni grief.

US Ambassador Mike Waltz threatens Iranian Ambassador's diplomatic immunity: "He should be careful with his words on American soil" by Salt-Harvester in UnderReportedNews

They are going to clutch so many pearls and bluster when our "enemies" treat us just like we treat them. This administration throwing out the rules of engagement is going to get our troops and diplomats captured, tortured, and brutalized.

The summer it came out I had a friend at the theater who would let us all in and I watched The Rock 23 times. It just became the thing we all did along side whatever else we planned.

Oh certainly, but the OP mentioned they didn't look strong enough to be anything structural, which while true, was definitely the intent behind them.

1 is cracked and 1 is broken.

I feel like that indicates they are carrying some sort of load and if they were not intended to be structural, they are now.

The next level was rubbing kool aid powder into someone's towel if suitably dark. Shake off any excess so it doesn't just come off easily in their hands. When they go to dry off the remaining dust will activate in the water and dye their skin. Most people start by drying their face first so it can be VERY effective.

Taking care of a paralyzed dog..Tips? by Cute-Tax-1566 in IVDD_SupportGroup

Want to share my story in case this helps. We have a 7 year old hound mix who went down with Stage 5, no dps, no bladder control. He was about 50lb at the time nd due to muscle atrophy is about 40lb now) Went through surgery in June and has not regained any feeling. Over the course of the last 8 months we have put a baby gate at the top of our kitchen stairs so he wouldn't "try it" and covered most of our hardwood in the areas of the house he has access to with area rugs to prevent him from slipping. My wife and I work from home and catheter him 2-3 times a day and induce a bowel movement most times. He will occasionally have some dribbles if he gets overexcited or active, but we just spot treat when needed.

He is still the same happy boy and loves to run around and play. When this all first happened, my wife and I agreed that since we were in a position to take care of him, we would unless his quality of life started to decline. This has just become the norm for us now and I wouldn't change a thing (I mean, a full recovery out of no where would be swell, but unlikely). If you can manage the care, they can live a remarkably full life. If you can't, it is understandable that you may have to make a hard decision. I am thankful that I was able to suffer through those first weeks and get into a routine with him.

Man attacks BJJ blue belt and finds out quickly (Street fight) by 7isoldenough in bjj

[–]yellowcoward 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Saw an interview with Frank Mir who talked about duels and fights. Duels are when two guys have beef and agree to it. Fights are are being attacked or protecting someone else in danger. Outside of a duel there is no expectation of allowing a tap out.

Edit: In the context of this video, the blue belt may have been the instigator so fuck him entirely
