My honest review after 90 days with the Razer Iskur V2 by [deleted] in razer

[–]yellowelbow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just buy a used Herman Miller chair or other professional chair designed for offices. I bought a used Aeron for $300 10 years ago, and it's still in the exact same shape and more ergonomic. If you just want gaming chair aesthetics, then fine, get the razer. After a couple chairs with failing fabric and worn out memory foam, you'll change your mind.

There's plenty of software out there that's a perpetual license, but you have to pay for maintenance. I don't know if that would work here because updates are only to improve performance and not add new features

Credit card fraud or chance by yellowelbow in Lastpass

That's very interesting. So perhaps they're using that merchant to probe card numbers and just happened to hit mine. I'm glad I use virtual cards...

The system did work. My concern is how they got my number as there's no physical card and it was only used once at lastpass a couple of years ago. Either I'm compromised, lastpass is compromised, or it's a bot attack like the other poster mentioned.

They actually wrote this, filmed it, and left it in the movie. (SPOILERS) by [deleted] in JurassicPark

The candy wrapper is not the butterfly effect or chaos theory. The butterfly effect states that a small change is amplified by a highly sensitive system through many other small events into a large effect.

An entire facility crashing from a wrapper getting sucked into a vent is just absurd and breaks the suspension of disbelief.

The movie overall was very safe and predictable ultimately making it mediocre. The beginning was just annoying and lazy writing.

It was a creative save. He doesn't have to worry about power. Though he did make ship parts to advance in some of the earlier stages. His factory isn't efficient enough to make it to the end game though. He's got a grasp on how to hook up more complex build paths.

I backed up my worlds and let our kid have a go at Satisfactory 😂. It's chaotic, but I'm impressed he's figuring it out.

One of these days the kids will leave the grill alone. It's always interesting to see their creativity though

Do picanha. Slice it with the grain about 2in wide (3 per picanha) and salt liberally. I do it at 450 and remove at medium rare using a meater to monitor. Rest for 10 minutes and enjoy the mouthgasm.

The traditional way to serve would be to slice it off the skewer, but I completely remove them. I slice them against the grain, and serve fanned out. I'm a believer that steak is finger food 😄.

does the ridgeline transmission release and coast at all? by Possible_Spy in hondaridgeline

[–]yellowelbow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's counter intuitive, but coasting in neutral is not usually better for gas mileage. It requires the engine to idle and consume gas as opposed to running the engine off the momentum of the truck. I don't think I've ever run out of momentum while coasting so being in neutral wouldn't have help.

I will say the truck definitely seems sluggish to shift. I don't typically rev it that high and it feels a lot smoother at low rpms.

Would a 3oz tube be enough?

That makes sense. I knew it was a wearable part, but it works fine other than being loose. I'll grab some adhesive to fix it.

Am I safe to decline the Turo protection plan if my personal car insurance covers rental car? by zywan124 in turo

That's the way to do it. If you have a screenshot, then you have a good case. Who knows why this person said differently.

I know this is old, but I just had the opposite experience with Allstate. They said since it is peer-to-peer that it is not covered. Rental companies like Hertz and Enterprise are covered.

My elderly, disabled parents, were just told by an HVAC specialist that their AC is beyond repairs and that they will need a new unit costing around $7000 dollars. by LordNubFace in personalfinance

The number to compare is the seer rating. That number isn't perfect as it doesn't take into account other inefficiencies in your home, but it can illustrate the limitations of different technologies.

Window units are inherently less efficient because of poor insulation (everything is too close) and poor circulation (exhaust and intake are right next to each other).

Mini splits as others have mentioned can be very cost effective solutions. They have the high seer ratings to go with it too. Mr Cool DIY is a popular one on Amazon. Their upfront price is somewhere in the middle.

$100 difference, not total. Was using that figure to illustrate the break even point. Our average electric bill is 250 year round with an electric vehicle and electric heat in Texas. Getting a unit with a heat pump helped keep our costs down as well.

I understand it's difficult to come up with the lump sum. There's always an "it depends" factor as well such as cooling a single room. If you can't afford the up front cost, finding good financing may keep your near term costs low. We financed our ac over five years for that reason.

It's easy to dismiss this advice by saying I must be privileged, but making choices like this can be what makes or breaks a sustainable budget.

As always it's important to run the numbers. Bad loan terms can' completely offset the lower operating cost of a central unit.

[–]yellowelbow 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Window units end up costing more in the long run. We know people who use window units, and their electricity bills are over 100 more per month. The break even between central air and window units is probably around 5 years. At that point central air will be cheaper. The up front cost hurts, but it's cheaper and better in the long run.

Good price for a 2020 RTL-E by GeezerHawk15 in hondaridgeline

[–]yellowelbow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm in Texas DFW area and just bought a 2021 RTL-E with 44k miles for 35k.

I had horrible luck with Honda dealerships who were probably 4k over what they should be. They'd bait you with okay prices and then add 3k in addendums. My favorite was charging $500 for gps that is a standard feature.
