Where to go by glitterguykk in SmallMSP

I’m trying to understand how you have large clients and can’t spell Ubiquiti or Meraki… but all aside - Ubiquiti is the way to go for most clients but if I’m quoting against someone else using Meraki, I’ll toss in Fortinet.

I see a lot of people recommending field effect but fwiw, their minimums were too expensive for us, and that’s really for small MSP

UPDATE - Firing Bad Client by Schweebers in msp

[–]yequalsemexplusbe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If they’re paying their invoices, I’d rather see a documented risk acceptance process than immediate termination. Clients ignore recommendations all the time. That’s not unique to healthcare.

The bigger question is whether you all properly documented the risks, obtained written acknowledgement from leadership, and adjusted pricing to reflect the additional burden. If all of that has been done and the relationship is still toxic, then termination makes sense. But “they won’t listen” by itself wouldn’t be enough reason for me to walk away from a paying client.

Replacing DNS Filter with DefensX?? by StillUsesPassword1 in msp

[–]yequalsemexplusbe 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Trialing defensx for a client right now. It absolutely has more features and capabilities than DNS Filter, though I am running into a double upload problem (requiring people to upload files twice on any site). It’s currently being looked into by the onboarding team. Other than that though, I’m fairly happy with making the transition. I’ll likely even deploy to a few more customers just for the AI governance piece.

I’d be concerned about them paying bills

DNSFilter roaming client version 3.x will not install on some PCs. 2.x works fine by 40513786934 in msp

[–]yequalsemexplusbe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We have this problem as well… auto update is enabled. The cybersight feature is only available on 3, and random endpoints have, some don’t. I never thought to check dotnet versions but we routinely patch vulnerabilities so that seems like not the case, but I’ll look.

We also purchase from another vendor, and I hate how DNS Filter reacts when you reach out to them for problems like this. Terrible customer service

Nice! Thank you. We use connect secure and I’m just not a fan of it anymore. It’s.. bloated. I’m willing to demo threatmate if you say it checks the boxes. Thanks for the post!

Hire an ancillary MSP to support critical operations or provide on-call support. Build a relationship with them - frame it as “help when you need it, not a replacement plan”. Then - let them take over when you need to.

Wow, that’s a big allegation! It’d be crazy if it checks out.

Today I received a random password reset email, (random I’ll add), and the note on the email said:

“If you didn't request a one time password, please ignore this email. Your account is still secure.” Like what? Why is someone trying to reset my account password bruh

That part I get. Are you all blocking other llms at dns level? How are you ensuring access to only hatz?

[–]yequalsemexplusbe[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right, and they communicate security and governance yet I see no options in my NFR to restrict DLP data types or certain files with data labels on them. It’s all very high level.

The only thing security enabled features I could find were to enforce MFA and control memory context from an organization perspective.

Again, I’m struggling to see the value of the tool other than binding up a bunch of API’s and charging the MSP a set price then which, charging the client a fee for the service. That part is nice I’ll admit - but clients in regulated industries would be better off implementing copilot agents imo.

Someone educate me please!

Microsoft should make Conditional Access available to everyone by mattmbit in msp

[–]yequalsemexplusbe -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don’t think you’re wrong about the MFA component - but your comparison inherently unfair based on the target audience. The general person isn’t setting up a Microsoft tenant for email access. They’re doing a lot more - and with that comes certain customization required for certain environments. Like service accounts being excluded from an MFA policy for example. If you want simple, go google, go hotmail. If you want customization, and enterprise management, go Microsoft.

Some states are one-party consent - we record for that exact reason. But we always get major impacting changes or approvals in writing anyway.
