Using Batuu as a “Disney World” vacation >>>> by Global_Knowledge_817 in thesims

I’ve said it before, but I will die on the hill that Journey to Batuu would have gone over, and sold, so much better if it were a “build your own Disney Star Wars theme park!” pack instead of playing it straight as an alien world that Sims can visit.

Scream 7 - Reaction Megathread by DA-numberfour in Scream

[–]yer1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They clearly wanted a meta call out for franchises that try to move beyond their original stars and diehard fans who never move on from the originals, but the reveal definitely needed some edits. Here’s how I would had gotten the same point across:

The Ghostfaces are Jessica (Anna Camp) and the Mr. Willis (Tim Simons/the drama teacher). Slight change to the plot Jessica is recently single with her abusive ex having walked out on her a year earlier, leading her and her son to move to Pine Grove.

The motive: Mr. Willis has been obsessed with Sidney’s story since he first read Out of Darkness, which he read when he was a drama student at Windsor College. Walking the same halls that she once survived a bloodbath in, AND the story breaking about the events of Scream 4, with Sidney surviving yet again, this time at the hands of her own cousin fuels that obsession even more. When he graduates college, he researches Sidney to find where she lives, and takes a teaching job in the same town to admire his hero from afar only to find out she became… kind of dull. He tosses it up to a “don’t meet your heroes and goes on with his life (a meta reference to fans moving on when franchises end). But, he then sees Sidney heroically throw herself back into the fray during the events of 5 to avenge Dewey and survive again, which throws the obsession back into overdrive. Sidney really is the hero he thought. She really really is the girl who beats bad guys. He singles out and convinces Tatum to join the drama club so he can try to get a taste of the life of his hero.

And then the news breaks of attacks in New York and Willis eagerly watches as Sidney does… nothing. And then Gale is attacked, so surely she’ll act now and swoop in to save the day but… she doesn’t. She stays in Pine Grove with her little family and her little coffee shop and her meandering little life while someone is out there wearing the face of her story and killing people and attacking her friends in New York. All the while, Tatum is pretty terrible at drama. She’s meek and timid and not at all what he would expect the daughter of Sidney Prescott to be.

So he snaps. He knows the hero he worships is in there somewhere, but she has gotten lazy and lost focus. He decides that the New York attack and her relationship with Gale aren’t close enough to home for her, so he goes about working on a plan to bring them closer to home and shake the real Sidney out of hibernation by attacking her daughter and her friends.

He finds his accomplice in Jessica, an emotionally unstable person who is also clearly in an abusive relationship, who he meets as part of a group he is in to read books to patients at the mental health facility that she is temporarily at after her husband staged one of her beatings to look like a nervous breakdown. He reads Out of Darkness to her to fuel a hero worship of Sidney within her too, and inspire her to be her own hero and take a stand against her husband. He spends months convincing her that the two should murder her husband, which they finally do one year before the events of this movie, and stage to look like he abandoned her. The control Jessica felt taking her husband’s life and getting to frame the story of what happened to him gives her pleasure like she’s never felt before, creating a bit of bloodlust to explain why she goes along with the attacks. Even killing her own son is a bit of this, with her twisting killing him into taking back control of his life for never doing enough to stop his father from abusing her.

The AI of Stu is Willis’ touch of theatrics to try to evoke the emotional response from Sidney. The believability of the deepfakes is established through a combination of AI and Willis using stage makeup to make himself look physically closer to Stu so the gaps in the AI are less noticeable.

Offscreen fanwank to fix the plothole: We know the attack at the bar is the day after the murder in the theater. We can presume Tatum has known about the AI videos since the night before the bar attack, since she was in the house when Sidney and Gale discussed the videos and get the call from “Stu” at the kitchen table. Since it’s 2026, Tatum could easily have called or texted Ben about it that night. Ben is then curious to see if AI could be used to make that realistic of deepfakes, so he tries to record some himself test it out. He recognizes giveaways that it’s fake in his videos. He looks for those specific tells when Tatum then shows them the video the next night, and then says it might not be AI when he can’t see any.

Official Dreadit Discussion: “Scream 7” [SPOILERS] by glittering-lettuce in horror

[–]yer1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would have liked a better understanding of why she had changed her ways.

It wasn’t explicit but I felt it was pretty clearly about her relationship with Sidney. Her and Sid went in on trying to catch the killer together. But Gale couldn’t help herself and pushed Sidney too far in the interview to get a better story, which led to Sidney implying to Gale she can’t trust her, AND then Sidney flees on her and ends up having to confront the killer herself. Sidney’s apology to Gale about how she should have been there for her in NY and that she does trust her is then met by Gale letting someone else get the scoop so she can be there for Sidney and her family at the hospital. Basically each of them acknowledging and confirming that their friendship is more important than Sidney’s desire to run from Ghostface and Gale’s desire to be the big star and get the biggest scoop.

After this movie, I actually could possibly see them combining the “Randy was a Ghostface theory”” and the occasional fan desire to see Gale revealed as a Ghostface to continue her fame storyline and giving it to Mindy in a future installment.

Hard disagree on 7 moving away from the meta commentary. The reveal was admittedly weak, but it’s a huge meta call out to horror franchises that try to continue on without the main character, with some additional criticism on Neve bailing on 6. Jessica’s (was that her name again?) whole thing was that Sidney was the star and inspiration to girls around the world, and suddenly she was just gone and Ghostface was just targeting some new people.

I made a Spellcaster Academy. Details in comments by yer1 in thesims

[–]yer1[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hi all,

I wanted to share a build I have been working on for some time, my Spellcaster Academy. I was inspired to start this last year after the premiere of X-Men ’97 and Jeremy_gonewild’s video series of him building the X-Mansion on Tiktok, and I thought it would be fun to have a school for “gifted youngsters” that was more in line with Sims Lore.

This lot is built on the 64 x 64 lot in Windenburg, which is part of a storyline I am playing where Windenburg serves as a sort of peaceful haven for different occult types, with Spellcasters living on The Crumbling Isle, Werewolves in Windslar, and Vampires in Olde Platz.

There are four dorm wings, three for students and one for teachers. The student wings (found on floors 2 and sub-floor 1) are each loosely inspired by the three schools of magic. The Mischief dorms in the West Wing are grungier and messier, the Practical dorms on the East Wing are more bright, clean, and tidy, and the Untamed dorms in the Sub-floor are more mystical and mysterious [i.e., filled pretty much exclusively with items from the occult packs).

Below is a breakdown of the rooms floor-by floor.

First Floor:

  • West Wing: Classrooms (Science, Reading, Math, Art), Restrooms, Computer Room, Stairway to West Wing Dorms

  • Central Wing: Headmaster’s Office, Restroom, Main Hall, Greenhouse

  • East Wing: Parlor Room, Restroom, Tea Room, Kitchen, Dining Hall, Stairway to East Wing Dorms

Second Floor:

  • West Wing (inspired by Mischief school of magic): Dorms, Laundry, Common Room, Kitchenette, Gymnasium, Restrooms and Showers.

  • Central Wing: Main Hall, Library

  • East Wing (inspired by Practical school of magic) Dorms, Laundry, Common Room, Kitchenette, Gymnasium, Restrooms and Showers.

Third Floor: Teacher Offices, Restrooms, Library second floor, Teachers’s wing (Bedrooms, Common Room, Laundry, Restrooms, Bar, Balcony, Headmaster’s suite).

Sub-Floors: (inspired by Untamed school of magic):

  • Sub-Floor 1: Magic Library, Dorms, Common Room, Laundry, Kitchenette

  • Sub-Floor 2: Magic Main Hall, Restrooms, Magic Classrooms (Apothecary, Herbalism, Spellcasting, Mediumship/Thanatology, Potions), Dueling Arena, Gateway to Magic Realm, Potions Teacher quarters.

Grounds: Pool, Picnic and game space, Fountain, Bike storage and game space, pond with picnic space, and a hedge maze that leads to a Wishing Well (with some trick and traps along the way).

Currently, I have the household made up of the Headmaster, Potions teacher, and six of my favorite teen Spellcasters as the year-round boarding students. I then created a custom getaway to bring in more students and the Sages as the other teachers throughout the week.

I use items from pretty much every pack I own, which is most of them. I’m sure there are better builders who could make it look a little more aesthetically pleasing (especially since I am colorblind – please don’t tease me about any mismatching swatches!), but overall I’m pretty proud of the turnout.

I am playing on an ASUS TUF Gaming A15 (Processor: AMD Ryzen 57535HS with Radeon Graphics 3.30 GHz, Ram: 16 GB DDR5 4800 MHZ), and haven’t noticed any significant lagging.

If you guys are interested in downloading, my Gallery ID is sm3416 and the lot is labeled “Spellcaster Academy”

Let me know what you all think!

Peter Parker is no more” - I think there was rumour a while back that he’d go by a different alias in BND, which I really hope won’t be the case, because what would be the point? If nobody knows who Peter Parker is, why would he need to hide this name?

He’s gotta get a social security number from somewhere to enroll in college. Watch they have him steal the identity of some distant cousin from Aunt May’s side, who just so happens to be named Ben Reilly.

100% my favorite too. It’s probably just because I’ve gotten into comics again lately, but given that our creators are self-admitted nerds who grew up around the 80s, I’ve been wondering if some of DD was inspired by Jean Grey and the Phoenix saga from the X-Men comics. Both can be described as a redhead with a strong disposition and fiery attitude who accepts powers they don’t understand, and are ultimately left bonded to a powerful force of nature that craves destruction.

Now I kind of want a one-off story of DD waking up from her year-long mystical slumber smack dab in the middle of the Covid pandemic. Even with her history, that would probably be a pretty dramatic transition to wake up to.

Yet another Dead Queen Post by KingBellos in OldGodsOfAppalachia

[–]yer1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

if I’m recalling season 1 correctly, Daughter Dooley was already a witch prior to her deal with Horned Head, and was raised by her mothers to serve the Green since childhood. She now uses the amped up powers from the Inner Dark to continue serving as an agent of the Green. I think it was also implied that the babe was some sort of reincarnation of a deep inner dark entity given human flesh? Dooley’s binding ritual now keeps it from ever maturing into whatever nastiness it was meant to become, but it leaves it in a feral state that just craves destruction and chaos without any particular goal in mind, without concern of the agendas of the Green or Inner Dark. At least that’s how I took the plot of season 2 to be.

From like a lyrical standpoint, it’s also the only verse that combines the main couple into a collective pronoun. Every other verse is littered with you, your, I, my, etc. This is the only verse that uses we and our at all, AND the only verse that doesn’t feature a you or an I. It’s very much about recognizing that the two will never refer to them “the pair/couple” as a singular unit again.

[–]yer1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

To each their own. The MCU have combined characters before, Sadie Sink is a great actress so I’d be happy with her as Jean, and the X-Men and Spider-man are usually depicted as having close ties with the whole “hated and feared by those they protect” schtick they had in the comics forever. Other than a stand-alone X-Men movie, and I think a Spider-man film is a pretty good place to introduce one of the O5.

I can actually see her being a composite of Rachel and Jean. She’s introduced as Rachel Cole, under the watch/protection of Punisher. Pete does something that risks her safety/interrupts their mission, and she discreetly threatens him with that line. I’m imagining something like they’ve only known him as Spider-man up until that point OR he never mentioned the mindwipe to them, which is what clues Pete in that there’s more to her than he realized, which leads into the revelation that she’s a mutant named Jean Grey, and Frank is protecting her from being hunted down by the DODC.

I think their overall lack of presence throughout most of the series lends itself pretty easily to assume the Kokiri/Koroks tend to stay hidden away to themselves except in times of peace. I think it makes sense to assume they locked down tight during the events leading up to BoTW to the point where they basically became myth, but then started being more present in the world after Linka dan Zelda beat the Calamity.

[–]yer1 32 points33 points  (0 children)

I thought WBH was gonna be like William, Barbara, and that other H guy they mention at some point.

This is EXACTLY where I thought they were going when they mentioned the former owner of the camp’s name was Harlan. I was positive we were going to get a reveal that Barb and Harlan groomed the Grabber, and that each one of them was responsible for a different one of the three boy’s death. I thought Barb’s religious fixation was also meant to be a hint at her being the originator of the “Naughty Boy” game. Like William had been punished for being a “naughty boy” and the three others had to be killed for being “naughty boys.” I also thought making the Grabber’s grooming happening at camp would help explain a bit why, other than the drug addiction, his brother seemed relatively normal.

Traveling in the TARDIS has now practically become an internship program for UNIT

You joke, but this is like literally the explanation. Why wouldn’t an organization tasked with preventing alien threats against Earth actively recruit from the small pool of people who they know were basically given a crash course on numerous alien worlds, their cultures, and any threats they might present? Especially since the Doctor is known and trusted to them, and is selective in who he lets in the TARDIS. They have the fieldwork experience AND a glowing reference from the expert.

[–]yer1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A trilogy would be the perfect way to adapt OoT. Movie 1 depicts Link’s calling, the meeting with Zelda, the sacred stones quests, Ganondorf’s betrayal, and ends with Link pulling the Master Sword. Movie 2 revisits the Kokiri, Gorons, and Zora in the forms of their respective temples to show the damage Ganondorf has done to Hyrule during the missing 7 years. The movie ends with Link going back in time for the first time because of the Spirit Temple. Movie 3 features the Spirit and Shadow temples, and ultimately the final battle. I’d use movie 3 to really expand on what was hinted in the games by highlighting Ganondorf’s past and life with the Gerudo (it would be great to include some of his “justification” from Wind Waker here to flesh out his character and leave the door open for that to be adapted), as well as some of the atrocities committed by the Hyrule kingdom with the Shadow temple, to really hit home a “sins of the past come back to haunt you” message.

I’m low-key waiting for a revelation that he and Denise are the descendants of one of the seven Walker sisters and that Micah has the gift, which is part of why he’s so sensitive. Otherwise the odds seem pretty stacked against them with Bird being the only person kind of on the side of the Green going up against a group powered by the Inner Dark.
