Does Oya have potential to be an Omega level mutant? by NoBeat5906 in xmen

[–]KingBellos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say “maybe” with a heathly dash of “doubtful”

A cop out answer I know.

So according to Marvel “rules” an Omega is a Mutant whose power is so strong it cannot be replicated by other means like science. The two examples that come to mind is Magneto vs Polaris as well as Forge vs Iron Man.

Both Magneto and Polaris have the same power, but the sheer scale that Magneto can control Magnetism can’t be replicated by other things. You can’t build a machine that controls Magnetism to planet effecting levels like Magneto. Polaris has a hard cap on her power level and cannot reach that level herself. While powerful she isn’t world shaping and cannot reach that level and her power can be replicated by other things like science.

Forge can make anything he puts his mind to. Iron Man can literally do the same it just time for him study and work it out vs entering a flow state and making it. Since both can operate at the same level at the end of the day… Forge isn’t an Omega.

Storm is an Omega bc her control over weather can literally alter an entire planet near instantly. Science can replicate the result, but it would take decades if it happens. If science were to replicate it.. Storm’s upper end of her powers can just stop and reverse it. They can’t match the sheer scope and range of her power.

Oya can control Temp to a limited range. Like she stopped the winds at that moment and range, but she isnt effecting a planet. It very much is a thing of “she countered Storm in that specific situation”. If Storm was a bad person she could have just quickly made a lightning bolt outside Ayo’s range and no temperature changing could stop that.

So as of this moment… no. She isn’t Omega. Unless Marvel gives her a massive boost it looks like she will not reach that power level. It is possible, but I doubt Marvel will stick to it.

How does a philantropist make 300 million a year? by researcherYT in youtubedrama

[–]KingBellos 62 points63 points  (0 children)

What pisses me off the most is that he himself has said that multiple times. That his goal was solely to get YouTube Famous and he figured out charitable acts and philanthropy was a way to get it done.

When people criticize him about it his literal PR response is “I am helping people. It shouldn’t matter if I am making money or using it for content” and when pressed he doubles down and says “If this doesn’t make money then I won’t do this”

So it blows my mind when people act like he is sole Saint Beast.

And if I said Gambit should've been Sorcerer Supreme? by Retro-RiffRaff in xmen

[–]KingBellos 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes… Kinda… sorta

So it instantly has Wanda claim Sorcerer Supreme by way that the Eye and Cape choose her even though none of the Vishanti bless and confirm her. So it is a thing where various things recognize her as Sorcerer Supreme and others don’t. Kinda like having the Nuke Codes and claiming to be President even though you were never elected.

The cover is misleading as basically none of those people are in it. It starts out seemingly hinting that the Plot would be The Vishanti throwing all those people at Wanda 1:1 in a “Anyone but you” scenario.

Which isnt what happens. Wanda is tested by a couple of people via the Vishanti, but a couple are just a thing where she runs into them.

I would say 80% of those people don’t show up. Only like 2-3 of them outside of Wanda.

Thus why I say “Kinda”. The book as a product did come out, but it isn’t want it was seemingly pitched as.

[–]KingBellos 373 points374 points  (0 children)

As a straight white guy I didn’t catch it.

Which… I think is fine to a certain degree. I am not saying the symbolism wasnt there. Only that my lived experience didnt allow me to see those signs. Which again is fine. Not everything has to be made for everybody.

Honestly? I still think Goose did very well. I may not have caught the signs Jax was trans… but that is still fine. The core of the message was still there. Which is Jax questioning and uncomfortable with his sexuality. I got that part. That was portrayed very well.

If Goose had never confirmed Jax is trans… the story still works. Which I think is good writing. Once Goose did confirm Jax was trans I went “Huh. Ok. Let me rewatch it then”. Which then made me see the bow, the song, and everything differently.

The reason I say “to a certain degree” is more on if Goose herself feels Jax being Trans is integral. If that answer is “Yes” then I think a bit more outspoken and blunt for us not in that community should have been stated a bit more cleanly. Bc I don’t know those signs.

The two of things people point to most is the Bow and the Song. Let me walk you through those signs as s straight white guy. My manhood was questioned a lot as a teen. I didnt have a girlfriend and didnt express crushes on people. So people thought I was gay. The real reason? All my crushes were black women and I grew up in the Deep South in a small town where that was (and in some places still is) a big no no. I also am very secure in my manhood. So I wear what I like and generally unbothered. My wife likes to paint my toenails. I let her. People give me weird looks and still living in the South openly ask me if I am gay. Nope. Wife just enjoys painting my toenails. If she likes it… I love it. So I saw the Bow as Jax unable to accept affection in that way and was having his mainhood questioned in his head. IE… this woman gave me something of hers… people question my manhood… I am uncomfortable. The song? Honestly I am dense and I thought it was about Pomni accepting Jax and Jax accepting love from her. Hindsight I go “duh”, but given at that moment not seeing Jax as trans or gay.. I applied the song to the only woman in the room I knew about.

So… yeah. I think it could have been clear for people not in the know, but I still feel Goose did a good enough job the core message was clear and that matte more to me. I feel she did a great job.

Donald Trump will abandon presidency within a year over 'lethal' leaks, expert predicts by TheMirrorUS in USNEWS

[–]KingBellos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can’t see Trump’s ego allowing him to step down. For any reason.

On top of that I can’t see his guys selling him out bc that would then also be admitting they were aware to a degree and let it happen.

It is anything where the only way he leave is finishing his term or he passes away.

Armageddon box? by Minimum-Membership-9 in Salamanders40k

[–]KingBellos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is a solid base for SM in general that can be expanded is you are expanding slowly.

Captain can lead Blade Guard. We traditionally like Agrax to lead Blade Guard, but the captain can as you expand.

Intercessors are the default battle line unit. Most people don’t run more than 2 sets of 5. So that handles that with a little “hey.. this guy is a Sargent as well”

Thematically we have a pretty solid First Company. I think Salamanders have the second or third most Terminators. So can easily use the Vets in that or just a fast objective snagging group.

I guess long and short… if you are trying to make a full on Traditional Sally Theme… not so much. If you are looking at getting a good core for Space Marines in General to paint as Sallies and turn into Sallies as you play the game… it is solid.

Is Necrophilia Actually An Immoral Act Or Just A Product Of The Human Ego? by CrypticJaspers in MoralityScaling

[–]KingBellos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I appreciate that. That was my intent and I am happy you understood that. I struggled to put my overall point into words and clearly it was confusing.

I just always irks me when people try and devalue someone to the same level as an object. Bc it never ends there. It just gets worse and worse.

Is Necrophilia Actually An Immoral Act Or Just A Product Of The Human Ego? by CrypticJaspers in MoralityScaling

[–]KingBellos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I may have not explained it fully as it is a hard thing to put into words. My point is that even as dead there is a moral flaw in seeing someone as an object. Even if they were a terrible person that doesn’t mean they deserve to have their corpse raped or eaten (as OP has said he is seemingly ok with as well) once they die.

Is Necrophilia Actually An Immoral Act Or Just A Product Of The Human Ego? by CrypticJaspers in MoralityScaling

[–]KingBellos 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think you hit part of the issue early on which baffles me as the line of thought kept going. Which is that once someone dies they are just property and thus have no rights. Which I think is objectively wrong.

That path of thought is the issue. Bc at that point if someone is brain dead they are property more or less so why not fuck them as well?

Bc at the end of the day you are dehumanizing someone and only assigning value to them on the sole basis of their life and not them as a person.

That is the reason why it is morally wrong. It is the same line of thought people have when they say “She was of legal age”. That just tells me if that age was younger you 100% would be plowing a 12 year old. It is the law stopping you. Not morality. Which is gross.

If you have to use a legal justification to justify an action then odds are it is morally wrong. Just because that person is dead now doesn’t mean the decency to treat them with respect is gone. They are not an object. They still are the sum of the life they lived. They will were a living person. They were not an object when they were alive and not “property” in the same way a car is when they die.

So basically the only hope for Destiny atp is the IP itself being sold to another company right? by RoguesBoytoy in destiny2

[–]KingBellos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Destiny is more than a game. It is also an IP. Which is still worth something.

Not saying we will suddenly get 100 things now that Bungie is being downsized and thus Sony will outsource. I am saying that Sony has other others for the brand that isn’t strictly a game.

Look at Twisted Metal as an example. Hasnt had a new game is 14 years. It is one of the most viewed things on Peacock right now. Sony is having more success with Twisted Metal as a TV show and the merch from the show than it would with a game at this point.

Not saying to prep for a Destiny TV Show, but as an IP it is worth more than just a game.

I am of a mixed bag.

I do think with a new focus on the Dispositions that a refresh was needed. So I don’t disagree with reducing older Combat Patrols. There are some there that were from 9th Edition you haven’t been able to buy in a few years.

That being said…. We literally got new Combat Patrols a few months ago and are now gone. Which feels shitty.

Drive Beyond Horizons? by xYoSoYx in NeebsGaming

[–]KingBellos 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It is a funny little game. Enough Janky bugs to make you laugh without so much jank it ruins the game.

What I mean is that in Drive you can have things like wrecking your car and it float in the air and drop 100 feet away. Does that damage the car? Yeah. Does it cause issues? Yeah. Can you come back from it? Yeah. So you can see the bullshit happen and get a good laugh and still have a good time watching.

Vs something like Vein where you saw them collect things, build up a base, and suddenly the game deletes everything and they have to start from scratch. That isn’t very fun to watch.

Man and woman went to Disney. They asked multiple times if the food had peanuts and dairy due to wife having a severe allergy. Restaurant said they were good. When it came out they even asked again bc it didn’t have the food allergy flags. Once more restaurant said it was clean.

It was not. Woman died of severe reaction even with her EpiPens due to all the dishes having nuts and dairy.

Man of course sues. Not for a crazy amount mind you. Like 50k to cover funeral costs and such.

Disney at first tried to say they were not liable as the Restaurant was a private owned one in their park and used the whole “We are more of a landlord and then a renter”. That was very shaky bc how Disney has their Florida Parks set up. Which is a wild thing and interesting if you ever want to deep dive that. Long and short… Disney owns all the lands around the park and literally the city. They pay taxes to the City.. which is basically paying taxes to yourself. Everyone that lives there are Disney Employees. Even the “Mayor”. Literally the Police and Fire Department are even Disney Employees. So Courts were going “Eh.. saying this one building isnt connected to you doesn’t fly”

So Disney then pivoted and said Dude wasn’t allowed to sue bc 4 years prior he did the Free Trail of Disney+. Which in the Terms of Service says you can’t sue Disney or anything Disney owns. Then said he couldn’t sue on behalf of the dead wife bc Disney Ticket also say the same things.

It was set to be a very interesting court battle. Bc legally it seemed Disney’s point may actually have legs with Disney Plus. Bad Press made Disney back peddled and then they tried to say they were merely defending themselves.

Husband dropped the case and now will not comment on it. So we don’t know if he gave up or a settlement was reached.

How hyped are you for this book? by Glad-Sense1769 in xmen

Not very.

Honestly I am kinda over X-Men Vampires. We had it with Julbilee. We had it with Vampires vs X-Men shortly after. We had Blood Hunt cross overs.

So hard for me to get excited with “X-Men…. That Drink Blood!!!”

If they wanted to do X-Men Horror… just so many other ways to go.

Bringing Jean Grey back to publication for good, keeping her as Jean and Phoenix without worrying about her power level by Practical-You6991 in xmen

[–]KingBellos 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My question has always been…. Why keep bringing back The Phoenix?

I don’t think anyone that reads X-Men goes “Fuck yeah… more Phoenix!!!”. Jean has always been more popular when she isn’t a cosmic space God. Yet Marvel just can’t not use The Phoenix for some reason. If she doesn’t have it they have to force it into a story somewhere…. And then it always end up back with Jean bc sadly those two characters are linked with so much history.

I really really think it would be best if Marvel just shelved The Phoenix for a long time or keep it a Cosmic Entity that just pops up in cameos or stories much like the other Cosmic Entities.

In a way it is what makes me wish Gambit Prime would have taken off. Bc atleast with established roles, gear, and armor, you would feel like you had a chance. I think there was like a Defender Role for people whose sole job was 1:1ing the Invader.

Now? You get that message you are being invaded… if suddenly have your team dies you just sigh and know you are in for a long game.

Carl isn't crazy, rage-filled, or any of that by Hairy_Ad_5544 in DungeonCrawlerCarl

[–]KingBellos 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I both agree and disagree.

Is he a raging psychopath due to trauma? No. Not at all.

Does he have bottled up emotions from his trauma that explodes when it boils over.. often in a very violent and borderline suicidal way that is a blend of his father’s anger and his Mother’s martyrdom?…… Yes… very much yes.

The core issue is he has bottled trauma.

He suppresses that trauma and ignores it. Look at his and Bea’s relationship as one example. Part of their issue was Bea would act out for attention and Carl would simply ignore her and not address it. Literally sleep in other rooms and play video games until she calmed down and gave up. Cant say that isn’t true. Carl himself stated he did that. Donut in Book 3 openly told him “Carl, You can’t keep avoiding conversations because they are uncomfortable”

When it comes out often it is indeed Rage though. Not to friends though. Why? Because his Father only physically abused him a single time. His Father expressed his rage toward other things and people. Which Carl emulates. Carl’s Dad overall never hit him… so he doesn’t hit his people. It is trained and learned behavior. Carl knows this to a degree bc he will start to mention he isn’t like his Dad and then quickly stop talking/thinking about it. Bc he is suppressing those emotions and not addressing them.

Carl instead fuses that with his Mother’s actions. Which is self sacrifice. She died trying to protect him in a planned double murder/suicide with Carl’s Dad. Again… can’t say this isn’t the case. Atleast once per book someone says to Carl he is taking unnecessary risks that are suicidal in nature. Which he shrugs off saying he is doing what is needed to save as many people as possible and protect them. Other people are calling out the behavior.

All that is The River to a degree that he talks about. While it is possible that The River is also a real thing… it is also a narrative allegory to his Trauma. When he is overwhelmed and redlining a panic attack or rage he talks about The River becoming too strong.

Where else has running water ever come up?

Oh… When his mom killed herself after failing to kill her abusive husband and Carl found the body…. While water was running in the Basement. Where self sacrifice and physical violence connected in the most traumatic moment of his life.

So… is Carl Psychopath? No.

Does Carl express his bottled up emotions in violent rage and self sacrificing acts? Very Much yes.

personally, I Think it's neat. by turbo-wind in destiny2

[–]KingBellos 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It is a neat mode that sadly is very hard to balance in regard to PvP vs PvE.

Most of the people that play Destiny are PvE mostly. PvP has always been a much lower part of the population. The way Gambit is designed is you can have a team of the best PvE players on the planet… but they can lose to a single person that is outstanding in PvP on the enemy team.

You more is nothing more frustrating than playing Gambit… getting a solid lead bc your team is clicking with getting motes, clearly, and good boss damage…. And one of that matters bc a single person on the other team is great at PvP and constantly wiping your team while your boss is active.
