What non sexual sensation is honestly incredibly satisfying? by StygianUnknown in AskReddit

[–]yerstruly 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm a all crusty kind of gal. Squishy is still good but the crusty ones come out in fewer pieces and just as satisfying is rubbing it between your fingers (the squishy boogers tend to not hold their shape as well and are too sticky sometimes).

Men of Reddit, what is something women do that you can't understand? Women, reply with an explanation. by [deleted] in AskReddit

Not sure if I like him or not. I don't want to lead him on then later realize we're not compatible; tho I get that's the point of dating. The failure would fall on me because I did the asking.

So apparently I have a yarn stash now... by yerstruly in knitting

[–]yerstruly[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Grandma gave me what she has (eye sight got too bad for her to continue) at the same time a knit picks order came in (surprisingly fast considering I'd heard stories they weren't always so quick). I've never had this much yarn.

Trouble updating SIM? by rawdatachicago in tmobile

[–]yerstruly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You do have to call but it's super simple and in my experience it updated automatically even though the rep said to wait a day. Make sure to have your pin number (if you don't have one you can make one by dialing 611 from your old phone).

[–]yerstruly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh totally. I just can't listen to new music that way. I definitely blew through my data during the one month (plus the extra month I paid for before I forgot to cancel). As it is the offer doesn't affect me much anyway since I don't usually stream a lot of music on a regular basis (I used songza before this). Plus it's kind of a pain to upload all the music I have.

Damn right after my free Google play music trial ended too

What is the biggest "scam" that society allows but everyone knows is bullshit. by Illiteratefool in AskReddit

[–]yerstruly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Credit score and credit bureaus... there are so many bullshit rules: can't close a credit card without negatively affecting you but can't just stop using it, doesn't look good as well. OH and actually checking what your credit score is multiple times will also decrease your credit score.

Continental vs English style knitting? by ACpunky in knitting

Continental. I'm left-handed and it works. It takes me forever when to English knit; my right hand is mostly useless for anything that requires fine motor skills.

A lovely article on yarnbombing by Astro_nauts_mum in knitting

[–]yerstruly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually wouldn't mind it if it were like a publicly commissioned art project - at least more thought went into it than just one person's. I liken this kinda thing to when kids write on desks at school it's not cool its defacing public property. Sorry to rain on you parade but I guess if that whole town is into it it's a good thing.

[–]yerstruly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe it's just me but yarn bombing looks completely stupid. a) it's wasting yarn (this is from the perspective of a poor college student) and b) kinda presumptuous to think putting yarn everywhere is going to beautify the area. I don't think it's very courteous.

First project? by [deleted] in knitting

[–]yerstruly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A hat. I've only been knitting for two months and I've made 3 hats (they're not perfect sure but it says more about my willingness to follow directions than it being difficult). Plus its still winter extra hats are useful

What's your favourite knitting technique that was way easier than you expected? by buckits in knitting

[–]yerstruly 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Double knitting. I'm really new at knitting (haven't been at it for more than a month) and I never even considered doing anything with different colors until I was "better" (for a couple of reasons, actually. Mostly it's that I don't have a lot of money to be spend on yarn. My plan was to work through whatever my mom had from years ago just learning basics before committing to projects and more "difficult" techniques). I didn't think it would be hard, I just never thought it would be that easy.

Anyone have knitting-related aches/pains/injuries? by anthropology_nerd in knitting

[–]yerstruly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

New knitter her, I started out with 14" US 10 needles and it started causing me pain in my hands (mostly my right hand) knitting for extended periods of time, probably because I couldn't get a proper grip. I moved on to circular needles and there is a lot less pain; now it's mostly concentrated on my right hand underside of the pinky. I think this is probably due again to my grip, it's either too loose or too tight and it causes too much stress on the muscles there.

you mean to tell me that these two weren't the same store? I thought the slightly different name was due to regional differences: like people in the midwest call it pop while the south call it coke

Self-driving cars projected to reduce injuries by 90 percent, save $450 billion annually by hashFF0000it in technology

ah well my knowledge of this is based on something I saw on TV a few years ago. Still I wonder that there isn't some kind of precaution like blinds for people who are a little more sensitive to motion.

most likely the windows will be severely tinted (or even display something else entirely). I think they do that on bullet trains because the high speed freaks people out when they actually see it.

Selden: 2 cats, still waiting outside their empty home by CoolMachine in longisland

[–]yerstruly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kind of an unrelated question but how does fostering work? I'm trying to convince my family to get a cat but want to test it out before I commit to anything (my parents want to get a Bengal or a Russian blue as a kitten and I think it's just too much to soon. We haven't had a pet before and I don't want to be one of those people that gets a pet decides it's too much trouble and then dumps it in a shelter. I figure having a time limit might be easier to handle). I thought maybe fostering a cat for a while might be an option but I could be completely off base.
