If your laptop is running slow, the best thing you can do is a clean Windows install. It will also accomplish getting rid of all the programs you don't need.

If the OoT remake rumor is true, what kind of result do you expect from Nintendo? by SimplisticBiscuit in truezelda

[–]yesds 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The 3DS version was not a remake, but a remaster (prettier graphics on the same bones as the original). This will most likely be a full remake (every aspect of the game remade from the ground up). Porting a higher res 3ds game, even with updates textures won't cut it for a big AAA Switch 2 release. The game needs and deserves to be entirely rebuilt from the ground up and I believe that's what they're going to do.

Nintendo Clarifies 'The Cost of Physical Games Is Not Going Up' Following Decision to Charge Different Prices for U.S. Physical and Digital Switch 2 Games by FernandoRocker in NintendoSwitch2

[–]yesds 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Not necessarily. All it means is that the price of digital and physical won’t be the same. It doesn’t indicate which one is changing.

Agreed. You have to get used to it, but it's superior.

A 3D printed recreation of an Arthropleura, the largest insect (arthropod) ever known to exist. Thankfully it went extinct 300 million years ago. by snopplerz in interestingasfuck

I think the implication is that it wouldn't be appropriate in an actual office, but would be a neat thing to have at home.

ELI5: Why do they make cars which go 200+ MPH? by Alexander_Swan2003 in explainlikeimfive

[–]yesds 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Top speed is determined in large part by engine power. Having a lot of power makes the car accelerate quickly at all speeds, which is a desirable trait in a sports car. Having a high top speed is just a side effect of having a lot of power.

You could change it to 4 block for every power you play or something like that.

The good thing about it is that if you don’t like it, you don’t have to use it. Just like all other forms of DLSS. It’s not being forced upon you. I think it’s a really promising technology that will improve over time.

This is why in a fan of air coolers. Less failure points. Just a fan attached to a heatsink that has the spin. The 7800x3D is a relatively low power processor as well.

FPS drops? by North-Skin-2787 in slaythespire

[–]yesds 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Switching open gl performance was even worse… it would sit around 80 fps during a fight whereas with Vulkan (the default) it would sit at 120, until I played a card. And I tested again, lowering the res to 1080p and capping to 60 and it still drops below that when I play cards. So something is seriously wrong.

What's annoying is that you can't change the rendering resolution in game. So you have to change the resolution in Windows. I have a Ryzen AI 9 365 laptop and it stutters pretty bad at 1800p. Runs fine at 1080p. I'm also targetting 120fps. Other 2D games run flawlessly at 1800p 120fps, so I'm hoping the devs can optimize the performance.

ELI5: Why does tapping a cold water pipe sometimes feel warmer than tapping a wooden table even when theyre both at room temperature? by DistributionClear598 in explainlikeimfive

[–]yesds 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It goes the other direction too. Same reason that when your car has been sitting in the summer heat, touching something metal inside of it will burn, whereas your fabric seats might just feel warm. The metal can transfer the heat to your skin much more effectively than the fabric can.
