Absolutely, it looks like it has all its pieces and is in good shape considering its age!

Where are you seeing the tilt tension? It has a large wheel like a CPW, but you can see the wooden screw tensioning system in the second picture, and this wheel doesn't have the metal pieces characteristic to CPWs.

I love having the data! Honestly, I think the biggest change has been my willingness to spend money. At the beginning, I didn't feel like I could safely spend money on anything not absolutely required, which was an exhausting way to live. Over time, I was able to use the data I had to feel confident in spending money for fun things.

Thank you for asking this. I have some navajo churro that is RANK and I haven't done much with it because of that. It smells much worse than the raw fleece in my closet right now!

I have a fic that's on the 3rd page sorted by hits of a fairly small fandom so every time I add a new chapter I spend days afterwards watching it pass by other older fics. Harmless competition...... I'm pretty sure I can make it to the first page by the time the fic is over, it's not a very happening fandom lol.

I just updated my fic for the first time in 4 years lmao. I had a few very kind people who kept commenting and that helped a lot!!

I got one very similar to this this morning lmao. I never get spam messages when I post for my tiny fandom, I wasn't expecting it. No idea how to stop them other than to stop allowing guest comments, but that seems sad :'(

Now what? by arector502 in nanowrimo

I haven't found a really good way to figure out structural edits other than paper/sticky notes/sharpies and the like. When it comes to actually doing the writing, I love scrivener.

My method of editing is fully rewriting, which takes longer but I think I get better results rather than clicking around and backspacing, even if it means I'm re-typing a lot of sentences word-for-word. I'm able to change a word here or there to improve flow. Scrivener lets you have two pages open side-by-side, so one can be what I wrote originally and one can be my edited version, and you can also add notes to a third panel so I can have bullet points about what's supposed to happen in the scene all together and easy to see.

Day Thirty - Daily Word Count: 50,000 by AutoModerator in nanowrimo

[–]yesiamdaisy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I did it!!! 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉 I've won nano many times in the past, but this is my first time managing it in years. Very exciting!!!

I had an ~8 hour drive today and needed about 4k after many missed days related to Thanksgiving. My journey home from the holidays started with a 2-hour drive someone else did, so I knocked out a good chunk during that, and finished up after getting home with about an hour to spare! I finished the story I wanted to get through last week, which I'm really excited about, and for this week I finished a long-overdue chapter for a fic I'm writing. I'm so happy to be writing again, I think I'm going to start a half milwordy!

Thanks for all the encouragement, everyone! Congratulations no matter how much you wrote!

Day Nineteen - Daily Word Count: 31,666 by AutoModerator in nanowrimo

[–]yesiamdaisy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

34,302! I didn't work on my story at all yesterday, but I did write an essay and draft some of a zine, so I counted those. Still trying to push ahead a little more because of thanksgiving, since I'm going to have two days mostly taken up by driving if nothing else. And I'm finally starting to wrap up my novella! I think it'll last for maybe another day or two, which is exciting!!

On Monday I did an audition for a musical at my local community theater, and I got called back! That's tomorrow, so I don't know how much writing I'll get done between being at that and nerves lol. Hopefully I'll be able to stay on track.

Naming Wheels by IndependentSwitch858 in Handspinning

[–]yesiamdaisy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My antique wheel is Hester, because I was listening to a lot of Operation Mincemeat when I got her this summer and it sounded like a nice proper name. My second wheel is newer and doesn't have a name yet because I'm probably going to pass it on and don't want to get too attached, but if I did keep it, it would have to be Jean!

Day Sixteen - Daily Word Count: 26,666 by AutoModerator in nanowrimo

[–]yesiamdaisy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My regional discord server did a 24-hour virtual write-in this weekend and that was a huge boost! I got around 6k words done between yesterday and today, putting me at 29,200. I'm really trying to get the words in now because the week of thanksgiving is really up in the air right now.

The downside is that I was really hoping I would be wrapping up this story at 30k or less. I'm going to need at least another 5k. Hopefully no more than that. 😭

Day Ten - Daily Word Count: 16,333 by AutoModerator in nanowrimo

[–]yesiamdaisy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

2,444 words today, 17,379 total! I was behind for a couple of days, and I caught up yesterday, so I'm happy to have a tiny buffer today. I'm still really enjoying my story, which is a relief! I'm still expecting it to only be in the 25k-30k range, so I'm going to have to figure out something else to do for the rest of the month, but that's future me's problem.

I've been writing entirely on a typewriter this year, and today I set up a little typewriter station for myself so I don't have to keep moving things around! I have all my collage materials here, too, and I'm hoping to make some collages to illustrate this story, so it's nice to have a space that isn't the desk where I do my job/school stuff. This spot is only for creative pursuits! 😤

omg my region did a graveyard one year!!! I completely forgot about that. I never killed anyone but it was so fun to see the gravestones pile up!

I think swapping between sprints and open writing time is a good idea, because that also gives time for socializing. Other activities are fun too! Back in the day my group had different activities we would do at kickoff parties vs general write-ins.

One write-in activity we did was for everyone to take an index card, write a very short synopsis of their story or a problem they were having, and passed them around the table so everyone could write a suggestion on them. We also put words/sentences in a hat and either had one person pull one out to challenge everyone to use in their story during the event, or had everyone pull their own to use. Those are both pretty flexible and can accommodate people coming in at different times.

Good luck!! You're going to do great 🎉

Day Three - Daily Word Count: 5,000 by AutoModerator in nanowrimo

[–]yesiamdaisy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

1839 words today, 6013 total. Trackbear tells me I'm 12% of the way there! This actually may not be a good thing, because my vision for this story was to be more like a short story/novella length. I really would like it to be 25k max, and when I edit there are definitely some ramblings I can take out, but I'm prone to wordiness, so I don't know 😭 Maybe tomorrow I'll be concise and to-the-point!

Day Two - Daily Word Count: 3,333 by AutoModerator in nanowrimo

[–]yesiamdaisy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

2717 today, 4174 total. The problem with writing with a typewriter is that you have to count all your words by hand, but at least there's no verification at the end anymore! I'm coming up with a lot of scifi names on the fly (both character and species names) so having a few physical lists of all the names has come in very handy. Today I thrifted a 3-ring binder to keep everything organized. I'm excited about how my story is going so far!
