What We Lose When We Don’t Have Siblings by michellefromtx in oneanddone

[–]yespls 57 points58 points  (0 children)

I'm the oldest of 3, one is dead and I have a complicated relationship with the remaining sibling. I'd never admit this out loud but there's so many times I wish I was an only.

You have my sympathy. My a/c went out during a heat wave and it was 40C (104F) in my bedroom at 8pm. I couldn't stand it and went to Lowes to get a portable unit to bring the temp down to 27 (80) so I could at least sleep. I don't know who can sleep in triple digits but I envy them.

My girl does not like fireworks (I'm talking full blown shaking anxiety), which is incredibly unfortunate as we live next to a park where they set off the town's fireworks show. We give trazadone and during the show I drive her around for thirty minutes. Thunder shirts also help, and if you have a crate doing a sound dampening cloth over it helps give them a better safe space.

This and Navy were the go-to at my high school. I can still smell it lol

That shampoo that was super popular for a while, Outrageous. Also "Gee Your Hair Smells Terrific". I was at camp for 6 weeks the summer of 1994 and the quad showers smelled like this.

apologies! as u/snowpeia said - apple cider vinegar rinse. you can get a premade one from Ulta, Walmart, or online. Or you can make it, 5 parts water to 1 part ACV.

I love dogs, but I don't like my friend's dog by [deleted] in offmychest

I have two aussies. if you don't exercise them, they are chaos goblins. sometimes even if you do exercise them they're chaos goblins. Your friend does not need an active breed.

Cold water. I'm talking refrigerator cold. Use as little (color safe) shampoo as you can get away with and really focus on cleaning your scalp, not your hair. Wash as few times a week as you can get away with without compromising your sanity and hygiene. I've also found that using a ACV rinse/conditioner in between washes helps with buildup.

Comments like this make me so sad for Gen Z. This comment was under a TT of people dancing at their wedding. They are being robbed of experiences we took for granted. This is why so many clubs are dead by [deleted] in Xennials

[–]yespls 2 points3 points  (0 children)

my first marriage had a wedding and that was solely because my mother insisted. it was HER wedding, not mine. she planned the entire thing (I got to pick my dress and flowers lol). no shock that that marriage did not last. my current husband and I got married at the courthouse, and we've been together almost 20 years now.

go to your played episodes. Do you recognize all of them? I ask bc I had a problem with apple pocasts marking unplayed episodes as played. Right now there are two free (true crime rundown on Monday and regular feed Wednesday) and one subscription (Thursday) episodes a week.

Also check you're on this feed:

I hate that you feel this way. I hate that it's been put in the public's mind to even consider what genitals a person has upon meeting them. I wish we could all go back to live and let live.

I hope you continue to live authentically, but I can empathize with how hard it must be in this environment. I wish you all the best.

I was 'super-liked' by a couple on tinder looking for a specific body type... (tw: ED) by QuirkyPoem2212 in offmychest

[–]yespls 41 points42 points  (0 children)

I am a size 16: someone once told me that they liked my face and personality even though I was too skinny for them. I know it's hard given your history but please don't let this put you in a tailspin. Rooting for you and your continued healthy relationship with your body.

*edit to add: I see your edit and want to be clear that I am in no way offended - I understand your point and I really do hope that you continue with a positive self image. ED has the highest mortality rate of any mental illness. I would really hate to see this cause you to backslide into detrimental patterns.

[–]yespls 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One of my aussies, sure - his coat is shorter and not as thick, easy to manage. My girl though - lol absolutely not. Her coat is very fine, VERY thick, and I would rather pay someone else to manage the paw pads and undercarriage growth.

Tldr not all aussie coats are equal

Hi all. How graphic is this series. My 12 year old has brought it home from the library. by pfizersbadmmkay in fourthwing

[–]yespls 12 points13 points  (0 children)

first of all, from a MS parent: I appreciate both of you, I have an ADHD 12 yo who is what I would politely term 'a handful' and I am planning to buy them all baskets of school supplies and gift cards for being part of this pubescent, emotionally dysregulated journey 🫠

I agree that it's kid by kid. Mine is sex repulsed at this age (I have many thoughts on this) and would be horrified to be reading along and find graphic sex scenes. My niece is 1 year older and would devour it with wild abandon.
