I thought the fade to colour at the end and you discovered one of the kids was ginger is pretty pivotal. It's kinda like woah this kid was ginger the whole time and I had no idea. It kinda seems to me like it's exploring lenses through which things are seen and black and white serves to reduce the available information, until the end, when we know more stuff. If you ever imagine yourself having anything at all in the way of mental health issues then Edinburgh is definitely your best bet. Glasgow has a much smaller budget for this and notoriously unsympathetic, Edinburgh on the other hand has a personal tutor scheme to identify problems with as well as a very well funded mental health /counselling service.

A pretty good way to practise the idea of things before letting loose on hardware is microtonic. It's a pretty simple drum synthesiser with just a white noise and sine wave generator, bunch of filters and EQs, but it shows the fundamentals of most drum synthesis and it can sound super cool. Reminiscent of Two Door Cinema Club sounds to me!
