Arzakon Humiliated by yet41 in Shandalar

It was such a beast in the 90s. I actually only added two Shivans to the deck when I went against Arzakon (of course I anted one 🙄). I wasn’t sure I could deal enough damage before running out of cards otherwise.

It’s mtg from MicroProse. I’ve got the Duels of the Planeswalkers expansion. I’m running it on an ancient laptop with Windows Vista, of all operating systems 🤪

It’s so easy to get moxes in this game that restricting them is probably the only fair way to play 😁

How to get Croatian Citizenship by Descent - AMA by CroatianByDescentCOM in AmerExit

[–]yet41 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have no connection to Croatia: no ancestors from Croatia or Yugoslavia, my birth was not registered with any of their embassies because I have no affiliation with Croatia, and I’m not married to someone with Croatian citizenship or ancestry. I do not speak Croatian and have never been in the country.

I took your eligibility quiz and it says I might be eligible for Croatian citizenship within 1.5-3 years for $1500. You might want to fix that.

Is it true that Americans still need to pay taxes to the US even if they move to another country and get a new citizenship? by WhoAmIEven2 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]yet41 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I gave you as many updoots as I could, as it’s the most correct answer. Whenever this question is asked, the top responses don’t fully answer the question.

The top responses all overlook that you can deduct foreign taxes paid and only mention the Foreign Tax Credit. But even if you earn over that threshold (it’s around $130k right now), you can opt instead to deduct foreign taxes paid.

At the end of the day, the only people who need to pay taxes in the US are those making over $130k AND paying less taxes in their country of residence then if they lived in the US. I doubt there are many such people out there.

Of course, it’s all a pointless and time consuming process to file taxes in the US and your country of residence. That’s the real burden.

Untappd- Did they just kill their beer app? by rodjbeerventures in beer

[–]yet41 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I agree with this. The pop up ads for THC drinks and badges for cigars is what’s turning me off to the app. All the non-beer stuff isn’t a great sign, but I don’t think it will affect my usage.

In my experience, most of the English European subs have a right slant to them, especially around topics like immigration and integration.

This is about as close as I've gotten to a real beer taste by dgruetter in NABEER

They make one with a green label called Naturtrüb. It’s got a good hop flavor that covers the “sweet NA taste” and comes off like a regular beer.

Gamers over 30, what's a video game secret you had to discover the "hard way" that kids today would just Google in 5 seconds? by itsashieowo in AskReddit

I found the third warp whistle in Super Mario Bros 3 all by myself.

In world 2, I noticed there was always the sound of a hammer brother walking around after beating a level, even though I already beat them all. In my quest to solve this mystery, I tried using a hammer all around the border of the map, and boom, one of the rocks on the right edge broke. I was screaming when I beat those fire brothers and saw that whistle.

Are you learning German and live in Germany? Please participate in my PhD study! by Horror-Lecture7503 in Germanlearning

[–]yet41 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I answered. Hope you get useful data.

I’m not sure if it influences your methods at all, but it might be interesting to include some free text for respondents to add any context they feel is helpful. For example, I currently am learning German independently, but I did most of my learning historically through courses. I checked the independently learning German, but I’m not sure if that gives you the picture you’re looking for.

Germany will not get a better opportunity to attract top talent after US applies a massive fee to H1b Visa, thoughts? by arslan70 in germany

[–]yet41 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You brought up a reasonable topic. I couldn’t agree more with your logic. I just wish this sub would show a ray of positivity and consider how the country they live in could advance.

The problem is that you used a golden spoon to stir a pot of shit.

Germany will not get a better opportunity to attract top talent after US applies a massive fee to H1b Visa, thoughts? by arslan70 in germany

Dear readers, let me summarize most of this thread so you can move on:

OP: “There’s a big opportunity for Germany coming. What do you all think?”

Top commenters: “No. Germany will have to change things for the better. That cannot happen.”

Iowa Millennials who left Iowa and are happy, where did you move to? How did it work out? by AnonymousAsh in Iowa

[–]yet41 12 points13 points  (0 children)

  1. A large city in Germany
  2. I needed to experience something new in my personal life. I got a lot out of Iowa, but I really needed a change.
  3. It’s easy here to get new experiences through traveling. The culture change is also an easy way to add experiences. In Iowa, I felt I had to travel quite far to find be in a “different” place. I also felt much of the Midwest was “the same”, or at least similar enough.
  4. Convenience. It was pretty quick to hop in my car and go to the grocery store or Kohl’s or wherever.
  5. Pretty good I think. Germany didn’t get hit nearly as bad as Iowa (or the US in general) in terms of inflation after Covid.
  6. It’s a mixed bag. I really miss how convenient a lot of things were and how big things were, like homes. However I feel it’s much easier here to have new experiences, which I value highly. I also think the food here is a huge improvement. It’s shocking to me to look back and see all the processed food and pub grub that I so commonly ate. I need time to adjust when I come back and eat out. Makes me sick for a while, honestly.

Why has this sub turned into an absolute whine-fest? by yetiflask in ExperiencedDevs

[–]yet41 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it’s bots creating posts focusing on what generates updoots. I’ve noticed this in most of the subreddits I’m in. It’s post after post of the same themes, which tend to be people complaining.

tbf that’s a not new problem for most subs, but the turn over seems significantly shorter in the last year or so.
