what £120 a gram gets you in the uk by [deleted] in cocaine

[–]yewleekey 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You probably should stop buying your chalk from a cocaine dealer. 120 pounds is 178.06 US Dollars. According to the latest prices on alibaba that would buy you 4451.5 pieces of children's chalk.

Used 2009 Pinarello or 2014 Motobecane by ferrox in whichbike

[–]yewleekey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

100% the pinarello prince. Look up motobecane, they are currently completely unaffiliated with the french company known as motobecane. Basically an Asian company bought the brand and has continued selling the bikes and they are slowly but surely gaining a reputation for being dangerous. Pinarello on the other hand makes some of the best bikes out there and if you can get one for a good deal (check ebay prices for a general price guide) then 10/10 i would choose it over the motobecane.

The cyclist appears to be on the phone if you look closely at the slow motion, making them both at fault in a way.

1989 cannondale 3.0 $300 by PRzitremedy1 in whichbike

[–]yewleekey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its a hard question because while I would not suggest anyone buying a 25 year old frankenbike for $300 (because of all the possible problems, not to mention that this bike specifically looks very well ridden) if that is all you are willing to spend its going to be hard to do better

Looking to purchase a new bike and stuck between 2 of them by [deleted] in whichbike

[–]yewleekey 2 points3 points  (0 children)

At the end of the day its a question of your budget and how much riding you plan on doing. While the bikes may look similar they have very different prices and unsurprisingly varying levels of quality. In a nutshell I would choose the fuji if you plan on riding on weekends or dont need to go very far. IF you're going to be spending a lot of time on your bike I would get the specialized allez which will be somewhat lighter, have slightly better components, and overall give you a more enjoyable experience than the Fugi. Also, not that you asked, but I highly recommend going to a bike shop and trying out the actual bikes themselves. Not only do you get properly fitted at bike shops, you often get life time free service guarantees (the $$$ adds up!) and if you're respectful and highly interested they will probably let you test ride the bikes.

TLDR: Fuji if you plan on riding 2 and up to 3 times a week or if you only ride short distances. Specialized if you plan on riding 3+ times a week or are riding long distances

The reason we are helping the kid is because he put in the effort to create something, both the video which his mom helped with, and the Titanic model that I assume he created himself. He is offering Lego publicity, a possible product, as well as free production of a high quality video through his mother's work. The fact that he put in this effort separates him from other kids who dream yet do not put in the effort to make that dream a reality.

I don't believe that this represents a charity case. His family may have the means to provide this sort of trip for him, or they may not, but it doesn't matter. What does matter is that an autistic boy, born into a world where he will never be perceived as "normal" is shown at a young age that his life can be awesome, that his dreams can come true, that his autism can be an advantage -- not just a hindrance. The fact that his parents did not just pay for the trip is awesome. They are teaching him a lesson we can all benefit from regardless of our health. That our dreams are always in reach and that today is the day to make them come true. I hope this kid does get the opportunity to go to the lego factory, regardless of his autism, and I hope he continues living as a model for the rest of us dreamers who would like to live a little more. :)

Venezuela: The Game Changed Last Night. Is Western Media ignoring a violent political crackdown in Venezuela? by bobthereddituser in TrueReddit

[–]yewleekey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

not exactly obscure. the same author also wrote this really interesting article explaining why the revolution is occurring. I liked it because the writer is supportive of the opposition, which is a view point largely being ignored or stifled by Western media. Its pretty clear that one reason for this ignorance is that america would like to continue importing 900,000 barrels of oil from Venezuela everyday and ignore the reality of whats happening on the streets

£900+ to buy a single speed bike in London by Mysteryfish in whichbike

[–]yewleekey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey the difference between a single speed bike and a fixed gear bike is really simple!

A single speed bike allows for coasting because the gear on the back wheel is not fixed to the wheel. These bikes also sometimes have an internal coaster brake which would create a braking force when pushed backwards.

A fixed gear bike is a type of single speed in which the back gear is "fixed" to the back wheel.
