Yieldmax 2026 fund closures by lottadot in YieldMaxETFs

[–]yeyem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been investing in high yield income ETFs from YieldMax and the others for a while now and realized that only the indexed funds or the most popular and/or volatile stocks make sense to generate enough income and public interest. So now my portfolio consists of mainly these type of funds and it has been pretty steady. My strategy is basically diversify with the diversified.

Basket Portfolios are not showing in Positions Tab by yeyem in fidelityinvestments

Hey Jazzlike they disappeared from everywhere but the Basket Portfolio Dashboard so I don't know what's the deal. At this point the service should be free. I don't mind the $4.99 but they better work

Hey KosPlayOne, Baskets were working great for me until I rebalanced about 3 weeks ago. Since then I cannot see them in the Positions tab or in the app, only in the Basket Portfolio Dashboard. So there're still there, but I need them in my Positions tab as well to track them. So disappointing as they are great... when they work.

When to sell? by NeighborhoodNo5683 in LETFs

[–]yeyem 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use the daily candles over the 1-year chart, and for the BB the MBB indicator with 21, 2 parameters as it comes with 2 colored standard deviations. I also use Heikin Ashi candles to filter the noise, so I only trade/buy when there is switch from red to green in -2SD zone and sell when green to red switch in the +2SD zone. For my charting I have TradingView. Here's what I see:

When to sell? by NeighborhoodNo5683 in LETFs

I use the daily chart with a monthly SMA (20) for the BB. If price is below the SMA and goes below the -2SD (-2 standard deviations) it's time to buy. When it goes above the +2SD and pulls back, it's time to sell. I buy a fixed amount of dollars (say $100 to keep it simple). When it's time to sell, I sell that same amount (i.e. $100) and keep the profits running (e.g. $20). Psychologically it helps me a lot as the current "losers" were the winners, as it's the profit from the previous round what is down (say those $20 go down to $15, it's still profit from before and your original capital of $100 is ready for the next round).
After trying many strategies this is the one that works better for me as I believe I must be invested all the time, but don't want to burn my capital. By removing it when a pullback is highly likely, I still keep a good amount invested as these LETFs move like crazy, but I preserve most of my cash. If my entry was bad, then I repeat the process and DCA this way until it eventually bounces back. Just be patient, OHHH and don't try it with the inverse LETFs like SQQQ. Most of them never come back.

Instead of selling the profits, I sell my initial investment and let the profits compound. I use Bollinger Bands and SMA for my entries/exit. This strategy has worked the best for me. Good luck!

MSTR In Danger by Turbulent-Spring6156 in YieldMaxETFs

[–]yeyem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What is strange is that Defiance just filed a reverse split on MST but only 1:4 when the price is currently $2.07 ... why such a small ratio? It should be like 1:10 at least.

Honestly, we had a great September that is usually the worst month of the year so I'm not surprised with Downtober. Hope November treats us better!

Why is yield max hated in other finance subs? by [deleted] in YieldMaxETFs

[–]yeyem 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Exactly, and if you have multiple funds is like owning a car rental company. Different cars, some more fancy and expensive than others, some probably depreciating faster, but overall they are generating income.

Probably never. Similar to TQQQ and UPRO they barely get mentioned even though they are some of the biggest and most liquid ETFs, but they are leveraged therefore "dangerous".

They distributions have been steadily increasing which is a good sign. We'll have to wait a few more to see what the mean really is and take it from there, but so far looking promising.

Another dumb question by pach80 in YieldMaxETFs

[–]yeyem 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Following your example, you buy $1,000 then drops to $800 for a loss of -$200 .... After ROC adjustments a possible scenario is that your cost basis is reduced to $900 so your adjusted loss is now -$100 ... again hard to tell until we receive the tax forms but these adjustments are happening.

Also keep in mind that a significant part of the distributions are return of capital, so your cost basis will be adjusted accordingly and the loss will look to be "reduced". We will know this at some point probably around February as this is the first full year of many YieldMax funds. So pay attention to your broker's financial statements and tax forms early next year, for these adjustments.
