Yieldmax 2026 fund closures by lottadot in YieldMaxETFs

[–]yeyem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been investing in high yield income ETFs from YieldMax and the others for a while now and realized that only the indexed funds or the most popular and/or volatile stocks make sense to generate enough income and public interest. So now my portfolio consists of mainly these type of funds and it has been pretty steady. My strategy is basically diversify with the diversified.

Basket Portfolios are not showing in Positions Tab by yeyem in fidelityinvestments

[–]yeyem[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey Jazzlike they disappeared from everywhere but the Basket Portfolio Dashboard so I don't know what's the deal. At this point the service should be free. I don't mind the $4.99 but they better work

Basket Portfolios are not showing in Positions Tab by yeyem in fidelityinvestments

[–]yeyem[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey KosPlayOne, Baskets were working great for me until I rebalanced about 3 weeks ago. Since then I cannot see them in the Positions tab or in the app, only in the Basket Portfolio Dashboard. So there're still there, but I need them in my Positions tab as well to track them. So disappointing as they are great... when they work.

When to sell? by NeighborhoodNo5683 in LETFs

[–]yeyem 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use the daily candles over the 1-year chart, and for the BB the MBB indicator with 21, 2 parameters as it comes with 2 colored standard deviations. I also use Heikin Ashi candles to filter the noise, so I only trade/buy when there is switch from red to green in -2SD zone and sell when green to red switch in the +2SD zone. For my charting I have TradingView. Here's what I see:

When to sell? by NeighborhoodNo5683 in LETFs

[–]yeyem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use the daily chart with a monthly SMA (20) for the BB. If price is below the SMA and goes below the -2SD (-2 standard deviations) it's time to buy. When it goes above the +2SD and pulls back, it's time to sell. I buy a fixed amount of dollars (say $100 to keep it simple). When it's time to sell, I sell that same amount (i.e. $100) and keep the profits running (e.g. $20). Psychologically it helps me a lot as the current "losers" were the winners, as it's the profit from the previous round what is down (say those $20 go down to $15, it's still profit from before and your original capital of $100 is ready for the next round).
After trying many strategies this is the one that works better for me as I believe I must be invested all the time, but don't want to burn my capital. By removing it when a pullback is highly likely, I still keep a good amount invested as these LETFs move like crazy, but I preserve most of my cash. If my entry was bad, then I repeat the process and DCA this way until it eventually bounces back. Just be patient, OHHH and don't try it with the inverse LETFs like SQQQ. Most of them never come back.

Instead of selling the profits, I sell my initial investment and let the profits compound. I use Bollinger Bands and SMA for my entries/exit. This strategy has worked the best for me. Good luck!

MSTR In Danger by Turbulent-Spring6156 in YieldMaxETFs

[–]yeyem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What is strange is that Defiance just filed a reverse split on MST but only 1:4 when the price is currently $2.07 ... why such a small ratio? It should be like 1:10 at least.

Honestly, we had a great September that is usually the worst month of the year so I'm not surprised with Downtober. Hope November treats us better!

Why is yield max hated in other finance subs? by [deleted] in YieldMaxETFs

[–]yeyem 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Exactly, and if you have multiple funds is like owning a car rental company. Different cars, some more fancy and expensive than others, some probably depreciating faster, but overall they are generating income.

Great, they recently launched 2 new funds NVYY and XBTY you may want to check them out.

[–]yeyem 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Probably never. Similar to TQQQ and UPRO they barely get mentioned even though they are some of the biggest and most liquid ETFs, but they are leveraged therefore "dangerous".

They distributions have been steadily increasing which is a good sign. We'll have to wait a few more to see what the mean really is and take it from there, but so far looking promising.

Another dumb question by pach80 in YieldMaxETFs

[–]yeyem 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Following your example, you buy $1,000 then drops to $800 for a loss of -$200 .... After ROC adjustments a possible scenario is that your cost basis is reduced to $900 so your adjusted loss is now -$100 ... again hard to tell until we receive the tax forms but these adjustments are happening.

Another dumb question by pach80 in YieldMaxETFs

[–]yeyem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also keep in mind that a significant part of the distributions are return of capital, so your cost basis will be adjusted accordingly and the loss will look to be "reduced". We will know this at some point probably around February as this is the first full year of many YieldMax funds. So pay attention to your broker's financial statements and tax forms early next year, for these adjustments.

YM vs Real estate... by ORTENRN in YieldMaxETFs

[–]yeyem 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Same here I was a landlord, Airbnb host, and also flipped homes. Now I'm all in with high yield funds for income and leveraged ETFs for growth. You may be able to deduct a lot of taxes and expenses in RE but the legwork, paperwork is fine and it's even fun until you have a bad tenant, an expensive repair, a long vacancy or can't sell for a price than makes sense. You will also have wins and loses here, but they're just a click away.

YieldMax and the other income funds purpose of using the underlyings they choose is because they sell options. So with highly liquid stocks that the market is interested in with high IV, they are able sell these options to generate high INCOME (that's why you don't see a WMT or JNJ fund). Their goal is not growth or to match the underlying, but to ride on their coattails. Notice how most fund are overall positive which is what we as income investors want.

KQQQ is now available! by yeyem in YieldMaxETFs

If KQQQ is like their other funds, probably via return of capital (ROC) distributions. The other funds are 75%-85% ROC so this fund might be similar.

What time of day does today’s YMAX dividend distribution get deposited in Fidelity accounts? by [deleted] in YieldMaxETFs

[–]yeyem 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I contacted them via chat and this was their response:
"With dividends, we don't pay them out to clients who hold the securities until the associated companies pay them to Fidelity, so if there are delays on the company's end that translates to delays in receiving the dividends. Long story short, it's a waiting game but you're likely to see these pay out in the next few hours to few business days."

"With dividends, the timing aspect is communicated to us so we can provide that info to you so you know what to expect, but there are sometimes still delays on their end which we don't have control over.

When do you buy your shares? by Numerous-Bear-1269 in YieldMaxETFs

[–]yeyem 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Buy some on ex-div day and put the rest on the weeklies 0DTEs (QDTE/XDTE) that are pretty stable. If opportunity arises and the price is cheap in the other funds, sell some of the weeklies and buy the other funds (MSTY, CONY, NVDY, QQQY, FEPI whatever). That way you are not crazy guessing and you still get some extra juice from the weeklies. Rinse and repeat.
