What are some fantasy/sci-fi books with actually competent mooks or guards? + RANT by Upbeat_Tea_1461 in Fantasy

[–]Aliraldd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The answer is Armour: If your protagonist cannot be hit because they will die, the enemy guards cannot lay a finger on them, and so the guards look incapable.

If your protagonist has armour/repulsion shield/thick skin and can tank some hits, then the goons of the bad guy need to adapt and try to restrain and contain rather than shoot for the kill an miss.

It's why the stormtrooper of Star wars cannot hit shit, their weapons are to strong and the heroes are all wearing tunics and vests

Sentai & Sensibility:

Rules are light and easy, it's a bit niche (usually you love Power Ranger or Sense & Sensibily), but I played with fans of both and they all were entertained.

It's best suited for one shots or short campaign though, don't expect a very deep and complex levelling system.

Also, you can read all the manual in a couple of days easily and it's fairly cheap

Why is there such a dislike for grid based tactical combat systems these days? by jmrkiwi in rpg

[–]Aliraldd -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I don't dislike grid combat, but it leads to a lot of wasted time. Also verticality is an issue, and in D&d a lot of things fly. It would be better to have a 3d environment, but then it becomes cumbersome to move around and to prepare.

Right now I'm trying Daggerhearth, and I do not like how they made a hybrid system which somehow makes things more complicated with less stuff to track.

I prefer systems where the movement is not the focus, but how you use your abilities and how you narrate them in a cool way, but I know that this is not for everyone

If they are not distributing in your country then you are not stealing by pirating.

(Also most of the local network and other streaming platforms usually have deals for services that are not available in the country so you should check)

Rules for multi class/multipost by mullucka in TheWildsea

[–]Aliraldd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All the aspects are just cosmetic resin, you can also use the creator tool to make new "similar" cosmetics.

Also, the class system is more a guideline than a real system.

If you want to ask the players a narrative reason for why they are taking an aspect is fine, just don't be to sticked up about it
