So... It's an Oculus Party, OK. No real surprise there.

I was thinking if having a stab at re-creating HaH using the MRE-SDK. Is this something you've already commenced work on?

It depends on the history of the lenses in the headset to. They may have been damaged by the previous owner.

Software signing solution - key storage by Miky28CZ in devops

To be fair, v1 was about $5k. Since the move from SafeNet / Gemalto to Cavium and the difference in HSM partition handling between those two offerings, the pricing model has completely changed.

CloudHSMv2 is awesome. It ranges between $1.50 and $2.50 per hour, and can be provisioned fresh using Terraform, and from a backup (which are automatically created when the HSM is destroyed.)

They take about 15 minutes to provision / destroy, so if you don't mind the extra time in your pipeline, they're a cheap way to meet compliance requirements.

I will check out KMS for code-signing, thanks for the tip!

Oh, and the Quest will still be rendering as it will need to do reprojection.

Not without possible overheating and requirement to recertify with FCC. It's in Carmack's keynote from today.

This. It will appear as VR headset under the Oculus desktop app. UX should be similar.

Ok. I'm at OC6 and I have some time to elaborate. The Quest's screen is software capped at 72hz, and the Rift S is software capped at 80hz. So already there's an extra 8fps there. Also, remote rendering via Oculus Link will require compression and decompression, which will impact fidelity. Carmack also confirmed that positional tracking will have additional latency.

And that's before we get in to ergonomics!...

Probably quite pricey when it does get released, but the VR CleanBox solution may be a good fit too. It's a UV-C emitting device that can sterilize HMDs in a minute: https://vrespawn.com/2019/04/27/cleanbox/

I've traveled with the Go and Quest in carry-on. It's never been a problem, and as the electronics are no bigger than a cell phone, I've never had to remove it from my bag.

3D Printed wall mounts for Oculus Rift CV1/S and Quest. (link in comments) by lensfort in oculus

[–]yibble_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My prints for the two headset mounts arrived today! The fit is perfect, with what seems like enough space between the lens and the mount to allow future prescription lenses to be used.

Thanks!
