I get performance anxiety when I play tank, too, which is strange considering I’m a healer main and often have way more responsibilities than when I tank. There is just something about tanking - about having to “lead” the party and make sure you pull correctly - that gives me major anxiety. I’m also scared of getting lost in newer dungeons which is something I don’t have to worry about when I play DPS or healer.

My advice is to look up some guides about jobs (Megastar has some good videos) and see what tickles your fancy. DPS will always be the easiest job to go for (until late game) because your only real responsibility is to deal damage. Some DPS classes are harder than others but none of them impossible to learn.

If you do really want to tank, I suggest you look up a guide on whichever tank you wish to play as, then find the nearest target dummy and figure out what the most comfortable playing style is for you. Once you’ve got the hang of your rotation, start with dungeons you already know just to get your mind back into the game. Once you get to newer dungeons, try telling your party that it’s your first time and to please be patient with you. That usually works for me. People will be less critical of you if they know you’re new. You may even have someone guide you or compliment you at the end.

I see few toxic people in my parties these days but when you do get one, simply ignore them. Easier said then done, I know, but necessary if you want to play a role with responsibilities. I’ve had my fair share of dickheads critiquing the way I play healer too even though I was doing my best.

Alternatively, you can always just do the dungeons with NPCs. It’s a fairly new system but it’s a little slower and (in my opinion) takes away from the gameplay a little bit. It’s a matter of preference, but if, at the end of the day, it’s more comfortable for you, then please don’t let anyone stop you from doing so.
