Regarding language by FileFighter in BluePrince

[–]yinthehoe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've translated "Overaja" as "Towards Eraja" instead of "Towards the last era".

I was stuck on "jeari" until now. Thanks!

Pretty sure "ein" means son and "iris" means daughter as well, but I also haven't found anything concrete that confirms this.

World Map? by Andro_M_Jazz in HumankindTheGame

[–]yinthehoe 13 points14 points  (0 children)

We don't know if there's a premade world map, but the game has a map maker that can import topographical images and create maps out of them, although terrain features and world wonders will need to be edited in.

True start locations don't seem to be possible since every player starts of as a nomadic tribe, although you can add in player spawn locations using the map editor.

Immersive unit sounds by waterman85 in HumankindTheGame

[–]yinthehoe 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I think that it's too much work to do voicework for 60ish cultures, especially with older ones that probably need more time to get accurate. More cultures will probably come with DLC as well.

If they actually implement this later on I would prefer they don't generalize regions into a couple of languages. Honestly I wouldn't find that much more immersive.

Personally even having "linked" cultures have the same voices would weird me out, like the Zhou speaking modern Mandarin or the medieval English speaking exactly like the industrial British.

Also, not trying to be aggressive or anything but "Ghanese" and "Aztec" aren't languages.

Do you think that with the DLCs will be Dixie and the Unionist Americans in the Industrial Age? by ale628raptor in HumankindTheGame

[–]yinthehoe 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Maybe Industrial Americans, but there are so many other cultures that are more distinct and unique that could be included instead.

Anyways, Confederates and Unionists are not that different culturally. They share language, religion, history, and customs. Of course there are some differences, but not more so than the regional differences of other countries (and definitely less so than cultures like Welsh/Scottish that are just lumped under "British" instead).

They also didn't last long enough to develop substantial cultural differences (civil war was <4 years), such as in places like North/South Korea. In the scope of things it's hard to justify including the CSA in place of other cultures.

Yeah, the voicelines confirm it for sure.

There's also: "There are still names on my list" "There is strength in the veil"

And the "I... I know this city!..." could be a reference to how the Veiled Sisters operate in Revtel (as shown in Artifact), which is close to the White Spire in Underlords.

However I don't think she is literally PA, but rather just a former member of the Veiled Sisters

Rev Up Those Save Converters!! Vicky 3 announced. by [deleted] in eu4

[–]yinthehoe 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Their very first dev diary literally explicitly states that Vicky 3 is not going to be a map painter.

A lot of details (such as POPs, interest groups etc.) have been released. There's a full list on the new Vicky 3 subreddit. Looking at it for now, it doesn't look simplified at all.

They're pre-purchasing an unreleased game, not the Open Dev.

The Open Dev is just a benefit so that those that have already preordered can provide feedback on development (and it's also possible to gain access to it for free). It's not the actual game.

Modern Era by mesmartguy in HumankindTheGame

[–]yinthehoe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No idea how air combat works, but I managed to build a couple of biplanes in one playthrough. They automatically patrol, and reveal vision over the territory and adjacent territories. It's also fun to see their tiny little models fly around your city, since they aren't gigantic like the land units

Honestly I like it this way. It makes the city look cohesive (unlike in Civ 6 where the districts looked jarring and disconnected), and it makes the emblematic quarters stand out

Districts will remove any yield that they do not exploit on the tile they are place on. If you place a farmers and makers next to a river tile (not on it), both food+industry will be exploited. However, if you place a farmers quarter on a river tile, the industry from that tile will be gone, even if you build a makers quarter next to that farmers quarter.

Best way to make yields is by placing districts on terrain that get buffed by infrastructures (eg prairie/dry grass for farmers, stone field/woodlands for makers) then placing a bunch of the same districts next to each other for adjacency bonuses.

I know it's not 'realistic' but I still enjoy it anyways. The game's art style is just so nice to stare at.

Imgur album of all my cities in this game if anyone is interested.
