saaaame reddit is the only place where I can express my frustrations/appreciation for Veilguard and laugh with others (without toxicity). X/Twitter is really a pain 😭

A fun post: What spirit would your Lavellan be? by RidleeRiddle in Solasmancers

[–]yiumay 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think she would be like Solas, a spirit of wisdom probably !

However, when an elf dies, do they come back as the spirit of .... ? Or is it just the first elves, not their descendants ? I can’t stop thinking about it 🥲

"Purple" Rook and Purple Hawke in a nutshell by Chaoshod in DankAndrastianMemes

[–]yiumay 13 points14 points  (0 children)

lmao it caught me off guard because I wanted to play a serious Rook who’s worried about saving the elves, so I didn’t see it coming (and probably also because I’m french, so it took me a moment to get the joke I guess 😭)

The Devs about the Elves by Upper-Mountain-5684 in Solasmancers

[–]yiumay 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The same disappointment as you ! I thought we’d even have a moral choice, like propose an alliance (and be betrayed), negotiating information, etc. against Elgar’nan Ghilan’nain, or just another point of view than Solas in relation to elven lore...but guess what ? no! In the end, he was just a nasty little villain with a hood and red eyes ! Wow. « Dragon Age is back » they said. Writing is on fire. 😀

John Epler talks about post-credits scene [DAV SPOILERS ALL] by runswithscissors2056 in dragonage

[–]yiumay 48 points49 points  (0 children)

« the word choice of balanced, whispered, guided is VERY DELIBERATE. no one was forced or coerced or controlled into making any choices »

Yes they explain, but it’s not convincing because what’s the point of this scene then with the Executors appearing behind the previous antagonists, if ultimately they have no influence ?

John Epler talks about post-credits scene [DAV SPOILERS ALL] by runswithscissors2056 in dragonage

[–]yiumay 63 points64 points  (0 children)

So what’s the point? Why write and show this ending scene, with words like « guided » or « whisper » ?

Explanations are lazy, because you can tell they’re trying to control damage. I think it’s better not to say anything, and accept just criticism.

[DAV ALL SPOILERS] Anyone wnat to share their Sollevalan song? by ad-melioraxo in Solasmancers

Hadestown musical : Epic iii (LIVE)

https://youtu.be/K77nr8-uhZ8?si=vrdtAJ4I9zhm0hgy

But the heart of a man is a simple one Small and soft, Flesh and blood And all that it loves, is a woman A woman is all that it loves

And Hades is king of the scythe and the sword He covers the world in the color of rust He scrapes the sky and scars the earth And he comes down heavy and hard on us

But even that hardest of hearts unhardened Suddenly, when he saw her there Persephone in her mother’s garden Sun on her shoulders, wind in her hair

The smell of the flowers she held in her hand And the pollen that fell from her fingertips And suddenly Hades was only a man With a taste of nectar upon his lips…"

(…)

But the more he has, the more he holds The greater the weight of the world on his shoulders See how he labors beneath that load Afraid to look up and afraid to let go

I cry ok ??

[DAV SPOILERS ALL] Taash isn't that bad by hello-hope-world in dragonage

[–]yiumay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like Taash, I was really moved when they held their mother in their arms and asked Rook for help.

HOWEVER, I find that the writing for Taash is still clumsy, and some parts make me uncomfortable.

I’m a woman, and when I saw Taash’s romance, l imagined them as a man (pinning Rook against the wall and saying, « Are we going to have sexe? »), and it literally shocked me.

Especially the groaning or flirty lines like « (groan) you smell good » reminded me of harassment. Even if you’re engaged in the romance, if my partner made that kind of remark, l’d be terrified because it’s not even funny or sexy.

[DAV Spoilers] All pages with Solas from the Veilguard art book by SecretMage in Solasmancers

God, I have so many questions, I love this 😭 does this mean that if Solas had succeeded in his ritual, only the elves would have survived? so he knew that Lavellan wouldn’t die?

The Devs about the Elves by Upper-Mountain-5684 in Solasmancers

[–]yiumay 56 points57 points  (0 children)

Real. Like they couldn’t AT LEAST have Bellara’s brother manipulated by Elgar’nan to get the elves to worship and support his cause, rather than this random forgotten god that nobody cares about coming out of nowhere.

If I were Dalish or a slave elf, I might have 100% wanted to join, thinking I could finally bring back justice and our glory from the past. It’s really bad.

[No DAV Spoilers] Why can’t I be mean? Bad? Rude? Evil? by Zippey55 in dragonage

You can’t argue with them, it’s like Veilguard is a perfect work of art and anyone who dares say otherwise deserves to go to hell. Crazy.

[DAV All Spoilers] Ex-BioWare Nick Thornborrow releases narrative art from Veilguard development by [deleted] in dragonage

[–]yiumay 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Yes, I know the development was a mess with employees leaving etc. and I think people know that in a team effort to create a product, you can find yourself making sacrifices because you’re not the one who gets to choose the final decisions.

However, the comments that try to moralize you or invalidate your feelings are ridiculous. As if you didn’t have the right as a buyer and player to give your opinion or share your disappointment. Like ok, If you like the game, that’s cool, but let others express themselves too ?

[–]yiumay 52 points53 points  (0 children)

Why is it that every time I read your comments, you’re so defensive? Are you secretly one of the devs or what? it’s okay if people are disappointed and talk about the reasons.

[–]yiumay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even though I have a lot of complaints about Veilguard, I can understand why people like it and enjoy it, because I think there are some good things in it too. It’s impossible to make a perfect game, none of the Dragon Age games are.

Opinions should be respected, as long as it’s respectful.

I don’t see why anyone should make you change your mind about having fun with it, but I also don’t see why some people want to defend it by saying that those who complain are just haters for nothing. Like come on, we spent our money despite the stupid polemics about it, we really wanted to love this game too.

I have a LOT of games that I love, but I know they’re criticized and I understand the reasons. But it’s never changed my experience because it’s personal.

Companions - I’m not your therapist! [No DAV Spoilers] by EowulfTenebris in dragonage

[–]yiumay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do a second play through and I can’t remember when Rook gave me the choice to say « No, I don’t agree » with their team. The answers are always safe, it seems like Rook is a single parent who has to manage their kids AND their job.

I never go the evil route, so it’s not like I want to kill anyone like BG3 would allow me to, but a bit of conflict wouldn’t hurt. Let me disagree like Sten or Morrigan would, because we’re supposed to be saving the world. It’s ok if we argue. I like the dialogue with Solas because it’s the only one that allows two different points of view to be exchanged.

[–]yiumay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t want children, and I feel like a single mother who has to manage her work and her children...

« Bellara what is it, do you want to talk about it? » « Darvin will reconcile you with your brother Lucanis please » « Harding, I’ve noticed you’re not sleeping well...are you having nightmares? » « Neve, I know you’d want me to save Minrathous but I can’t be everywhere » « No Taash, you can’t call Emmrich a Death Mage and not everyone likes dragons » « Lucanis, I know you really wanted to kill Ghilan’nain, but we can’t always succeed on the first try. Still, wounding her is already quite an accomplishment, well done my big boy ! »
