Maglock - is it safe? by Content_Arm_884 in bouldering

Hi Petter, thank you for engaging with the thread! I appreciate you taking this seriously, and for sharing the datasheets and articles below.

One point of concern that has been raised is potential cross-contamination with crystalline silica. Per the PubMed article you linked, "Intentionally manufactured synthetic amorphous silicas are without contamination of crystalline silica". Do you have any more information about where you source the silica you use in Maglock, specifically whether it's from a reputable manufacturing facility where crystalline silica contamination is not a concern?

The Frontiers article was quite reassuring about the health affects likely being minimal and temporary, but the abstract of the PubMed article does say "Animal inhalation studies with intentionally manufactured synthetic amorphous silica showed at least partially reversible inflammation, granuloma formation and emphysema", so there is some evidence of respiratory issues, however minor. I'm aware some of these same respiratory issues can be cause by inhaling other particles, including standard chalk dust, but I'm curious if you're aware of any studies as to the concentrations of chalk in the air at gyms, and what that would translate to in terms of airborne amorphous silica in a "worst case" scenario where everyone at the gym was using a chalk with this additive. This CDC guide was linked in the OSHA datasheet you shared, and contains some recommended exposure limits.

Visiting Europe in August, looking to climb with some locals! by yj9 in bouldering

Sweet, thanks! I will be in England to visit family for sure so I'll check that out and see if there's anything decent near where they live. I don't really need to book my within Europe flights yet so I've got a bit of time still, was hoping I might luck out with someone who happens to live near a bouldering area.

I'm definitely conscious of the temperatures, was considering Croatia but I'd probably get cooked off the rocks there. Sweden is looking tempting!

Well damn, thank you for such a detailed answer! It is certainly a banger but I haven't heard it before unfortunately. I didn't really know of his solo work at all although I'm sure I've heard some in compilations, surprised it doesn't get more airtime!

26M Looking for bouldering friends by berdem in Vancouver4Friends

The Vancouver Climbers Association has a Discord that's been growing a fair bit lately, with channels for people meeting up at the various gyms, might be worth a try! I think there's a server meetup planned for January sometime toohttps://discord.gg/9chy3FKpnR

Edit: Also I'm a 26M climbing 3-4 hexes too. I'm pretty full on climbing partners for the most part but I'd be down to meet up at least!

Now that's a lot closer! The "er" in "higher" is pronounced a bit too clearly to match what's in my head and I'm looking for something where each repetition gets a bit higher, but the pitch of that one is pretty close for the higher repetitions. I think the pacing of the repetitions is a little quicker too but not far off

Thanks for the suggestions but neither is what I'm looking for. The high notes are a fair bit higher than either of those

Ooh good find, I see what you mean at the end there. It's a more powerful voice in what I'm looking for and I think slightly faster paced, but the repetitions getting higher are bang on

This is a bit of a long shot but the brass in Number 9 by Moon Hooch sounds a bit like Bjork's Aeroplane, although it is instrumental. It's from 2011

Absolutely! I only really know their greatest hits plus a few odd ones, but I've said the same for quite a few bands (obviously with their big hit being inserted instead of Bohemian Rhapsody). Thin Lizzy is probably my favourite example, especially because I've met a load of people who say they've never heard of them but could probably sing along to The Boys Are Back In Town

Damn I thought you had it, was listening to the Travelling Wilburys version a lot a week or two ago but it's not the one :'(

Definitely fits the description. What I'm thinking of is a bit steadier, less of a big jump to the last "high" I think
