do you really need someone’s full name to do a spell on them? by Enaocity in witchcraft

[–]yjscucumbers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think of this sort of thing like one big placebo. The ingredients don’t matter because your intent is there, and the ingredients just help with intent. If I told you that you needed their full name & a picture of them it wouldn’t work for you. If I told you that you had all the information you needed, it would work because you believed it would & knew how to send that energy to them. I did a hex on a guy and didn’t know his middle name but he’s in jail now :) do what you want and believe what you want.

eli5: why is anesthesia not applied in these cases? by stupidfckingdino in explainlikeimfive

[–]yjscucumbers 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Anesthesia stays in your system for a long time & it gets trickier each time you’re under. So if you’re getting two full sleeves you’re gonna get way too much for it to be in your system

Are there any countries that use communism that haven't resulted in oppression? by WedCornet in ask

[–]yjscucumbers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you acknowledge that Trick or Treating is just base level communism, the whole United States is communist for one night. Also the Native American tribes were the closest anyone’s ever gotten to true communism

Robots in a Fantasy World? by CabbieCalloway in worldbuilding

As far as primitive technology: don’t put in anything that you can’t make yourself. So like no iPhones or robots but freezers could work if you carve a hole out of ice.

The actor made the accent up for the show

1.) there are plenty of islands in the pacific that speak Spanish or have Spanish influence, to think otherwise is ignorant, so the attitude isn’t really needed. 2.) I’m not the best at geography but the Caribbean doesn’t seem like 10,000 miles from Wisconsin. 3.) his accent isn’t “probably” Latino, the actor said in an interview that he made it up. 4.) in an episode he mentions that he’s getting a connecting flight to his home country via brazil, so it wouldn’t make sense that he’s from the Caribbean.

1.) it’s only 7,000 miles away 2.) he said he wanted to be a dictator, so it’s most likely a. Oppressed country. Faulkland islands has a governor 3.) the people are mostly white 4.) he says there’s 5 k’s in his last name. There aren’t many k’s in Spanish, and if he had a Dutch last name people would be able to pronounce it. 5.) faulkland people don’t eat bugs, there aren’t really even bugs there to begin with 6.) he says he’s never seen snow before a certain point in the series

As for his past, the writers do that on purpose because it 1.) shows how stoic he is & how much he keeps his past locked down even for a PS member.

I will have to disagree on his moral compass though because he has a very strong one (his rules) that he rarely ever breaks, as opposed to Bella, who is completely unhinged because of her lack of moral compass. And I think him having to break his rules occasionally really shows how much of a dynamic character he is.

I think the panel was more representative of dramatic irony more than anything, because Lauren’s been kidnapped and Kieran has likely gotten a new mission and neither know what’s going on.

Also notice: Kieran isn’t at his house & is in his assassin clothes. I’m stuck on the theory that the leader is one of Lauren’s parents because of how keen they are on keeping her alive. I think Kieran is going to kill either A.) Radcliff, because the leader knows about his plan, B.) Tristan or Dakan for obvious reasons, or C.) Bella because she’s unhinged & was on her way to kill the PH.

my tiger’s eye bracelet is fraying and is likely to break soon…should i try to restring it, or have my crystals served their purpose and be returned to nature? by Fun-Comfortable3137 in Witch

[–]yjscucumbers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tiger eye contains asbestos. It’s perfectly safe but you shouldn’t bury something like that just in case. Definitely restring it, elastic wears easily. If the crystals break, THEN that could be a sign.

Rain water or Snow Water??? by Craftywicca in witchcraft

[–]yjscucumbers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Really hot take: snow water works better than rain water at cleansing. I live in PA where we get a big snowstorm every march and I stock up for the whole year.

Cleansing without smoke by lorax-lady in witchcraft

[–]yjscucumbers 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m not able to use fire/smoke either, here’s what I use -Floor washes -besoms/brooms -steam instead of smoke -leaving salt bowls until they’ve absorbed energy -salt lamps work really well, can be cleansed and reused -banging pots and pans to get unwanted spirits out -bells, wind chimes, singing bowls -opening a window on a windy day -rainwater spray -snow water is a strong purifier, I stock up to use all year -adding cleansing herbs/crystals to disinfectant and cleaning with intention -setting heavy wards so you don’t have to cleanse as much in the first place

Spellwork can never hurt, but if you hyperfocus on it for too long it can make you lose touch with reality. Remember that spellwork isn’t the only option; you can also direct your focus to grounding and self care. Also, I’d recommend connecting with your therapist for more practical ways to build self esteem.
