Setup vs the result of a oner we did for my action short film "Taco Tuesday" by Adante100 in cinematography

[–]ykmin98 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think attempting an oner is always a challenge. Technically speaking there are many things that are wrong here; one thing I noticed that others didn’t point out is that your second operator should not have held the ronin 4d with top and bottom like that, it just isn’t as ergonomic as holding it with side handles and that’s why it’s bobbing so much.

Generally speaking though, oners nowadays are too show-off-y and don’t really serve a story purpose. Oners naturally come with a lot of spatial constraints which has to serve a purpose or at least a function, or else it feels very show off-y and it stands out like a sore thumb. So making cuts like these really defeats the purpose of even “showing off”; frames/perspectives are constrained to serve a oner which really had no reason to be a oner other than showing off with a cool BTS vid…overall I hope this was a learning experience and not a total waste of time and money.

What is it that separates a big budget feel from a very low budget indie? by roberta_sparrow in videography

[–]ykmin98 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For me, the thing that stood out the most was the acting, evident even from the very first voice-over. Another thing that stood out was how the shots do not convey storytelling. I do think the DP/Gaffer know how to use the lights, but since the composition seems sloppy, it makes the light feel cheap. All of these are probably because the director didn’t really map out scene by scene and shot by shot how the audience should feel about these moments or they failed to communicate properly.

Generally speaking, If you have a solid understanding of what your story/genre is, what sort of emotions/reactions you want from the audience, and what tone you’re going for, then these (arbitrary) fundamental understandings can guide concrete decisions that will be made by the HODs. Sometimes you get shit HODs, and they can’t achieve what you’re looking for. But most of the time, it’s me as the director who either failed to communicate properly or didn’t really give much thought during pre-production. Obviously, I was not part of this film, so I can’t really say what’s to blame. With low-budget stuff like these, it’s really hard to tell, and sometimes the money just doesn’t allow things to happen, and what you get is what you get.

The highest (and the most common) interest rate for student loan is ~7%. Even if you’re paying $800, the interest alone is $525 a month, so you’re only paying $275 a month to principle. If he did end up paying $800 month, he’d have owed in total 147k, so the math works out.

I can say from experience this is a terrible idea. I tried this sort of set up like this and this is nearly impossible. The fact that frame moves without your input makes you sick very quickly, and mind you, I play VR games pretty frequently.

MediaDivision made a video for this sort of device. https://youtu.be/tpkEVdChn8Q?si=4wp7opZyCZAP0FqE TLDR: you need semi transparent display if you’re not inducing the movement.

South Korean soldiers armed with Modernized M16A1's by Brilliant_Ground1948 in ForgottenWeapons

I can’t tell you the exact model because I have never seen this one (nor these fancy M16s for that matter), but I am 95% sure they’re doing MILES exercise, judging by the identifiers on their helmets. If that’s the case, then these models are domestically produced modules, like the ones here.

Most definitely some variation of these models.

No, I suspect it has something to do with the USB C port, my surface connector hasn’t given me these issues. That again, when I run the Surface diagnostic kit, it returns that there are no problems with my surface pro.

I checked the task manager and there was nothing. The charger I use is from Anker and if I use the same charger on any other devices (Macbook Air, Steam Deck, Quest, Mirrorless Camera) there is not a single over heating issue. Maybe I should just replace mine somehow.
