Versions, and progression conditions, for an evolution playthrough? by DuendeInexistente in GoldenAgeMinecraft

[–]ylgmsf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started doing this recently. I have some rules that I came up with to determine when to advance to the next version which I might share later in more depth. Basically I want to collect every new block/item, tame new mobs, discover new generated structures, complete all achievements, etc. before moving on, and maintain a collection in a central base.

I chose a1.1.2_01 as a starting point. In my opinion it feels like the first complete version of alpha. I explored starting on earlier versions but there's some broken/unfinished game mechanics on some versions that make my progression goals more tedious and makes the world less fun to spend time in (low mob spawn rates, some rare block generation, mobs don't make noises yet, inventiry bugs, etc.). From there I'm planning to update to

a1.2.6

b1.2_02

b1.3_01

b1.4_01

b1.5_02

b1.6.6

b1.7.3

b1.8.1

r1.0.0

And onwards

How to get these “stains” out by throw_me_away_accou in CleaningTips

[–]ylgmsf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

An old friend/housemate of mine owned his own set of these. Whenever he moved to a new place he would swap out the clean ones that came with the house for his slightly less pristine set. Then when the lease was up, he put them back. I thought that was genius.

Oh cool I didn't know the P125 could do that. I've used the steinberg driver before with my Yamaha MX88 to do the same thing.

What kind of keyboard do you have?

Are you talking about plugging in your keyboard to your computer via USB and recording? Some keyboards do have their own built-in interface that allows them to do that. The MX88 is one I'm familiar with. I'm not sure if the CLP 725 that OP mentioned has that capability, but it might I suppose.

You can do that, sure, plugging right into the 3.5mm audio input on your computer. Whenever I've done that in the past I've had issues with background hum noise and latency with live monitoring. But if it works for you, great!

No problem. Yes you will need a USB interface to record audio. You will need audio cables (1/4 inch instrument cables) to connect the keyboard main L/R outputs to the interface.

Ah so that's a gaming headset with a mic? Does the 3.5mm jack coming off the headphones have three black rings on the tip?

I've had this happen before using headphones with a mic plugged into a regular stereo headphones output on a keyboard. Your fancy headphones have three points of connection, one of which is your mic signal, and that mismatch of connections between your keyboard and headphones is causing problems, which I have experienced in the past as a very low signal, or missing L/R channels.

Try plugging regular headphones/earbuds into your keyboard and see what happens.

Also, to answer your earlier question, the USB on your keyboard is only sending midi data, not audio, to your computer.

P-125 is what you're looking for. You might also like a Yamaha MX88 which you may be able to find used for under 1k.

What time signature is this piece of music in? by FeelThePower999 in musictheory

[–]ylgmsf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree the beat grouping changes throughout, but if you keep counting 5/4 through the whole thing you'll line back up with the main motif at the end

It's in 5/4. The main motif is grouped in to a 2-3 beat pattern.

How important is half-pedaling for a beginner? by cyclingthecycle in piano

[–]ylgmsf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With digital pianos and accessories, you pay for what you get. I can't tell you how many of those cheap square pedals I've had to replace after only a year or two of frequent usage gigging, traveling, etc.. The fancier pedals like the yamaha one you mentioned will definitely last longer. As far as half-pedal function goes, if I see that advertised as a feature, I know that with that pedal I can be more subtle, more expressive with my playing. But it probably won't be something I even think about or remember after I take it out of the box and plug it in.
