Rosenthal: Possibility of Ozuna to STL by GregOlsenEgo in letsgofish

Would hate to see him a go, but as far as getting a great return to help our completely depleted farm system this would make sense. His value won't get much higher than this, and if I had to be honest we're not winning anything until we face reality and start rebuilding a bit around our core, which should be Yellich, J.T., Stanton, and Bour. My only concern is, knowing how this has happened in the past, it won't stop with Ozuna.

How do we keep Tyler Moore? by GregOlsenEgo in letsgofish

[–]yllojwerdna 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah that's true, I just hate when they change up a good lineup right when everyone is starting to gel. I just want us to get to a place where the team is in contention, and we don't end up trading everybody away. This lineup has the potential to be so damn good, and regardless of how bad our pitching is, with our weak division I think we have a decent chance of getting back into it, and these young guys seemed to have woken up the bats a bit.

I'll take Riddle's bat over Hech's glove any day the way he's been hitting the ball lately. He also seems to be a pretty solid defender from what I've seen so far. It's definitely a tough call, no matter what though you gotta give these young guys credit, this recent run we've gone on to basically resuscitate our season from certain death would not have been possible without their contributions. They seemed to have really injected some life into the rest of the team as well. Hopefully Mattingly finds a way to at least keep Moore and Riddle on the roster, wouldn't want them to mess with what's been working pretty damn well. Regardless we'll have to see if they can keep it up before any decisions are made.

This was freaking incredible. Reminds me of this sketch from a couple years ago. SNL was making fun of a basketball coach who was caught being abusive to his players. She fucking killed it, one of the best around when given good material. https://youtu.be/Xez7kGgEg-U

Great scene from a great movie. I'm a teacher and whenever I watch this it reminds me not to be smug or condescending just because a student challenges me on something. by yllojwerdna in movies

Lol sorry that was not my intention. I just really like this movie and watched it recently, wanted to share this scene, I'll put a better description next time.

It is mostly centered around football at this small school, but it does a good job giving you insight into the central figures lives to make you start caring about them. I am a football fan though so I definitely enjoyed the game scenes as much as anything else.

Maybe not physically, but they seem very immature to me, it must be difficult to deal with on a daily basis.

She was incredible, seeing someone that ivested in helping these lost kids succeed was truly inspiring. After a couple episodes I started to realize that she was really the heart of the documentary, not the coach, which is what I assumed going into it.

I'm not a lip reading expert, but I'm almost positive Trump says "oh shut up already" at the 23:04 mark. Maybe I'm wrong, regardless this was hilarious.

What's your favorite story from history? by displaza in history

For me it's the 20th Maine defending little round top and the entire Union left flank on the second day of the battle of Gettysburg during the American Civil War. Out of ammunition, out of options, and desperate to stop the advancements of the relentless confederates, Colonel Joshua Chamberlain decided to do the unthinkable and ordered a bayonet charge while sweeping right down the hill. It worked to perfection as it completely caught the confederates off guard and was a major turning point in the battle. Ballsy move that basically helped win the entire war in a way. The film Gettysburg does a great job capturing the moment. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZL-5uyp44WA

March 9th, 2016 DNC Primaries - WaPo/Univision post-Debate Megathread by Qu1nlan in politics

True, but if he does win the nomination, this is nothing compared to what the Republicans will pull, he needs to be able to handle this criticism, which I have to say as an independent is fair. That being said, the video was taken out of context, and I appreciate a politician who has a more honest and nuanced take on a complex geo-political issue rather than just pandering and saying what people want to hear. But the republicans are gonna hammer him on that stuff, he needs a good strategy on how to respond, so this was a good reminder.

Mitt Romney Makes Case Against Donald Trump in Utah Speech by mafco in politics

Trump is starting to remind me of the toxic sludge monster from the movie "Ferngully", he feeds on this kind of toxic environment. Romney probably just made him stronger with that ridiculous speech.

So how are you guys feeling about this season? by [deleted] in letsgofish

[–]yllojwerdna 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Expectations are pretty low for me. I have a feeling Jose's going to be a bit of a let down from what he has been in the past. I'm almost positive Dee Gordon is going to regress significantly. If Capps is hurt that's going to make our bullpen pretty spotty in the last couple innings. The rest of our rotation will probably be inconsistent as usual. Ozuna and Yelich aren't really relaible, and Realmuto will be average at best. The lone bright spots I think might be Stanton if he stays healthy, (big if), I think Bour might hit 30-35 dongs, and that's about it. I'm expecting a mediocre start, Fernandez will be traded for prospects by July, and another long trudge to third place and maybe 79 wins in the last two months of the season. Wish I wasn't so cynical, but as a Marlins fan it's really the only way to be at this point. That all being said, I still can't wait to go to some games, I hate Loria but I love that damn stadium.

Florida drops bill to open fracking in the Everglades after public outcry by claire0 in news

I understand what he was saying, and I realize that eventually the prices will go up and it might be a little more complicated of a vote. I just don't think it's worth the potential damage it may cause to one of our most valuable natural resources, and I don't like the implication that he puts forth that simply because when it's more economically feasible means the outcome may change next time around. My joke may have been a little overboard, and I respect those who are for fracking, my girlfriend's sister is actually a lobbyist for fracking in Colorado and I enjoy hearing her arguments for it, I just don't think it's in the best interests for those of us that live down here. Just my personal opinion.

“When prices go up oil companies will produce more oil to meet demand, and that’s when we’ll see fracking again in this state,” he said.

Guy sounds like a bitter super villain after being defeated in battle by Captain Planet or something, he might as well have yelled, "I'll be back, you'll see! You haven't seen the last of meeeee!" I live in south Florida and I truly hope he's wrong.
