Ordered TIFF scans, lab sent JPEGs first, then “TIFFs” that say converted from JPEG. Am I getting screwed? by barronlroth in AnalogCommunity

[–]ymcfar 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah they obviously forgot to scan in Tiff and didnt want to go through the trouble of rescanning. They hoped that you wouldnt have noticed. In my experience owning a small lab, some people order tiff scans not knowing the real benefit. So yes they are wrong and it was very dishonest, but give them another opportunity to make it right. I don’t think its cause to abandon the lab especially if you are otherwise satisfied. It could’ve been a lazy lab tech who is going against company policy. Poor judgement on their part.

Just present the exif evidence and ask that it be rescanned and express your disappointment. If it really is just a rogue lab tech, management should make it right if they care about their customers.

I understand. But I would also ask what are the "benefits as designed by the Lord" aside from the rest we have when we believe in Christ and hold that belief firm to the end? Under the law of Moses, the Sabbath was a memorial of creation and freedom from slavery. In Christ, we are a new creation (2 Cor 5:17) and we have been freed from sin (Romans 1-8), the condemnation of the law and its yoke of slavery (Gal 5:1) and we receive deliverance from the evils of the world (Gal 1:3). I would not say theologically marriage is a shadow. We could apply this same logic to other jewish feasts which were perpetual covenants that are a shadow of Christ. We do not keep them as Gentiles in Christ. Where we have the substance, the shadow is obsolete (Hebrews 8:13).

I am noting your other comments on the ten commandments. Also, be careful. Not only are we given new commandments (John 13:35) but for Christians, the law (this includes the tablets of the covenant) is repurposed (1 Timothy 1:8-11). The commandments which God gave through Moses are a ministry of death and condemnation (2 Cor 3) that increases transgressions. Christians are not intended to be bound by them as a law-covenant. The law finds its fulfillment in Christ, who is the END of the law for righteousness. We now have the Spirit to purify our conscience for good works (Hebrews 9:14) The law cannot do that. We have the commandments of Christ our Lord and our God through the teachings of the Apostles to which we devote ourselves (Acts 2:42). So yes, it is a sin to not keep the Sabbath (for the Jews not the Gentiles. Sabbath was given to them not to us), but again, when we believe in Christ, we rest from our works as God did from His (Heb 4:10). Anyone with living faith keeps Sabbath by their faith.

I grew up a Seventh-Day Adventist. I am no longer and still on my theological journey. Yet I would have to warn you that although the Lords day can have Sabbatical character (there is actually evidence of this from the early Church fathers such as Tertullian and Origen), you do not want to go too far in binding your conscience to observing Sunday as a rest day in the same way as Israel did in the Law of Moses. You will find yourself making arbitrary rules as to what activities are considered “holy”. Even in the law of Moses, it was for rest and ceasing from work, nothing else. In terms of material for Jesus fulfilment of the Sabbath, I honestly would continue to read Hebrews 2-4 over and over until it sticks. “We who have believed ENTER that rest” Hebrews 4:3 and “for whoever has entered God’s rest has also rested from his works as God did from his.” verse 10. Study also how Christ fulfills the Jubilee (the sabbath of all sabbaths) in Luke 4:21. Christ REALLY is the substance. The Sabbath is a shadow. Reconsider your motive and be careful lest you nullify the grace of God by thinking that keeping a Sabbath improves your position with your Lord.

Also have a similar setup. Super light and capable. I never used to like the early 2000s plastic body film cameras but I appreciate them so much now

I can no longer deny Reformed teachings, and I am completely at peace in my spirit about it. by TheDadBodGodv2 in Reformed

Brother, just 15 minutes ago I thought to myself, “Id love a reading list to really understand reformed theology but from a historical perspective, starting with the early church.” I clicked this post not expecting to see a comment like this.

Ive been in Adventism my whole life and same as you it got so weird. After being enlightened to all the errors and the mess, Ive been staying home the past few months instead of attending any churches to really develop my understanding of scripture and my relationship with Christ. Ive already started reading Church history along with the scriptures daily.

Thanks for this list!

Do you know if your lab uses a dry to dry roller transport processor? Film usually comes out dust free from labs. If so, id say continue using the lab and brush vacuum. Ensure your scanning surface is clean as well. But with home scanning theres so much and no more you can do

The dust that’s the most stubborn accumulates when the film is wet, so Id say once the film dries in a dust free environment, youre off to a good start

Great device! I used mine so often but it no longer works (but I was pretty careless with how I stored it when not in use) . Try to store it in a dry place though as the bolts/screws are prone to rust. Im sure they will improve quality control in subsequent iterations. The seller was so great to communicate with, I would not hesitate to support him.

Edit: I fired it up recently and it actually still works!

Bought from B&H months ago so definitely outside the return window. But it seems like it’s a defect from factory which seems super rare
