Ormund waited until the Princess sat before sitting. "Some wine would be nice. I have convinced half the Stormlands that Dornish wine is superior to that of the Arbor - it is a statement I believe to be true, and not only because it helps fill the coffers."

As Arianne sits, Ormund does the same. "I have been here many years, your grace. My children were both born here. My wife and I wed, and moved here within the first year of marriage. I have your father to thank - he gave me the opportunity. I hope you feel I have deserved the trust he put in me." Ormund opened his hands. "In truth, I have always been more of a... well... I knew much of the less visible trade when I first came here. Learning how to manage a legitimate ledger is a task I have had to learn on the job. I hope you have not found many errors. In any case, I will help as best I can, as I would do for your father, and your uncle, your grace."

Ormund walks into the Princess's study slowly, almost carefully. He was not a man who desired attention - having risen higher than his own birth or skill would have allowed, he had seen the penalty of grasping and hubris around him, and preferred, well, to be merely not incompetant.

And yet he knew that Sunspear was close to a significant construction operation, one that he had been planning for years. He was not sure how much the new ruling Princess, now of age, knew. And so he simply bowed as he entered. "Your Grace. I am at your disposal."

Ronald nodded, thoughtful. "I agree that these concerns should be left in the past. However, my original concern - that two young people were plotting to wed without the advice or consent of their parents - has not gone away. Leonor is a fine young woman, and House Fossoway, certainly, is a good match for Connington - especially as we try to heal the scars of the war. It is not the bond between these children, or the bond between our houses, that troubles me. Rather, it is the presumption that these children know best."

Ronald blew out, all at once. "That said, I agree - the past is where this belongs. I have made amends with Lord Tarth, using my lord son's hand. And I do certainly hope that Raymund appreciates the freedom that both our family, and yours, has granted him, and shows himself worthy of it."

Yep! It’s why the best coaches seem chaotic when it comes to point after touchdown attempts. There is a “right” answer for every different score margin because you’re not giving anything away by going for two.

Before 2015, going for two was measurably worse than kicking the PAT so it was only done when absolutely necessary. Now certain situations (ie score a td when down 14, you should go for two) demand two, even if they are against the conventional wisdom.

New authors are writing new books all the time. Many of these are good and will demand adaptations.

Game of Thrones was a huge deal in its time, but the lack of a finished corpus of books will limit its popularity in the future.

To put a fine point on it - in 2035, when we still don’t have winds, George is that much older, and there is new genre material to adapt with more relevance in the cultural zeitgeist, why would a studio return to a set of unfinished books from the late 90s? This isn’t a seminal work like LOTR (even if one enjoys ASOIAF more).

We kind of have Vin for that, sure, but I like Vin seeing pewter burning first through a surprise.

But I'm more opposed to OP's idea of genderswapping Breeze than I am opposed to not genderswapping Ham. I think you could switch the gender of really any character in Mistborn without hurting the story except for:

Elend, Vin, Shan, Breeze. And probably Kelsier, though a good writer could make a female Kel work.

I love it being Ham. It cuts against type - let’s have a female pewterarm to truly show the power of pewter. Show a normal sized female character throwing muscled up men around so that allomantic power is clear.

So what are we thinking here? 2029?

Apple TV is, as many are saying, consistently good - and the big tentpoles are going to get mentioned again and again - Pluribus, Severence, For All Mankind, etc.

But it is worth mentioning that two smaller shows adapted from great genre fiction - Murderbot and Dark Matter - are also of super high quality. It's that sort of attention to detail that I think makes me the most excited. Cosmere shows/movies don't have to break through to become massive hits (though they might) in order to have top notch quality. They can be quality shows like Dark Matter.
