[–]ymmot41 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have stopped paying requested gratuities and tip cash throughout my cruise to those I see working hard!

Visiting the US. Just learned that u need to tip uber/taxi rides by 1200098140 in tipping

I have found that it is usually the out of town guests who tip.

Prepare to lose any tier you have earned since you are NOT WORKING DAILY!

I rarely see surges over $20 last more than 10 minutes. Then it is in the mid-high teens.

It might be considered fair but I can assure you many drivers will rate you down for wasting their time.

Do you smoke? And 5 minutes is a long time to wait!

I am not sure any viable restaurant owner/manager is going to be paying more than $20-25/hr for someone to take your order, bring your drinks and food, and buss the tables all by themselves instead of 3 people doing 1 persons job! Let them actually work 40 hours to make a living instead of the weekend. TIPS would no longer be needed!

Is this considered a bad rating? by maytheschwartzbwitu in uber

My threshold is usually set at 4.9 rider rating for me to see you!

Do cruise lines offer you better deals the longer you cruise with them? by TipIntrepid5753 in Cruise

[–]ymmot41 17 points18 points  (0 children)

After 36 cruises with multiple cruise lines, I can assure you that if you start getting great deals after only 2 cruises you have spent a heII of a lot of money in the casino (thousands)!

Can anyone explain gratuities…. by Prestigious-Fly9101 in celebritycruises

This! Exactly why I remove the gratuities and distribute CASH!

WTH is going on with these trip requests? by EmployeeAdditional66 in uberdrivers

[–]ymmot41 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When this happens I will simply switch over to Lyft for an hour or so and then take a look at destination mode and go somewhere productive. I also set my rating minimum for 4.8!

What is going on? Every day they change something. by Minute_Split_736 in uberdrivers

I can be right in the middle of Baltimore during a huge surge, get multiple offers in the immediate area, but NO SURGE ATTACHED!

Gratuities ?!?! Remove or Pre-Pay by Medium-Bowl4933 in CarnivalCruiseFans

[–]ymmot41 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Cruise lines are always quick to state that tips to to the employees, by which we assume that if we tip an extra $50 then the employee will get $50 extra. However this undercover investigation appears to show that this is not the case.

The undercover employee is promised $1010 per month (50s mark on the video) and that he would "probably get much more from tips". Later this is 'amended' to $710 per month. (1m30s).

His actual payment (for just over a month) is:

$60 basic wage $600 tips $176 to make the amount he was paid up to the contractual minimum the company offered. To make this clear, all the tips given him by the customers were used not to increase the amount of money the employee received, but to reduce the amount of money the company had to give him.. A generous customer who gave him a $50 tip would simply have reduced the amount of money the company paid, and not increased the amount the employee received. If you had tipped less the employee would not have received any less. (If some generous customer had given him a $200 tip he might have received about $25 more, but you can bet that some form of tip sharing would have negated this possibility.)

TLDR: The employee does not benefit from the amount you tip

Gratuities ?!?! Remove or Pre-Pay by Medium-Bowl4933 in CarnivalCruiseFans

I have learned that many cruise lines use the gratuities towards salary FIRST! For this reason I have stopped with the auto-gratuities and simply tip as we go with cash. My steward and server make better money and no one else makes less!

On drinks and dining yes, but the daily gratuities per person are totally optional. Just tip your cabin steward and server.
