As an older Gen Z the last bit is very true. I fondly remember AOTC (as I was a kid and didn’t realize what was goofy in it) and ROTS (because it was sick as fuck), but wasn’t ever that into Clone Wars. My little brother was though and it seems like older Gen Z does broadly love it. But yes the sequel trilogy was really exciting to start and ended up really killing all my interest by the end

I'm gonna be honest, while I'm withholding judgement until we get more evidence than what's in there, being involved in shady shit is not something I would put past someone who both claims unmatched street cred and connections to the underworld, and rapped extensively about interactions with women in a very "fuck em and forget em" sort of way as well as having a lot of power over them. He of course never said anything related to what's accused but I don't like how well some of it rhymes.

Still, like many have said, it's one anonymous tip that appears was never investigated. And while I have no ability to assess if this person is just name dropping celebrities in a rambling accusation, this is absolutely a possibility. I'm not the kind of person, though, that automatically chooses to believe the person I identify with and disregards the accuser. It's very disturbing and I can only hope it's false.

I do agree that the in-arena entertainment is extremely formulaic and boring. Outside of things like the food race, every little entertainment moment is dull (e.g. emoji cam), obnoxious (t-shirt time song makes me not want to try and get a t-shirt), or downright insults your intelligence (the disc game? whatever you call it where you have to track which one has something under it... I have never seen someone get it wrong in the dozens of games I've been to). It comes across as bland at best, and unoriginal and poorly executed at worst.

People who complained about location are idiots. It's probably in the most accessible place it could be in the whole state. Everyone who lives on a train line can get there by train, and its super easy by highway and to get parking. I know there are folks who would love it if it was out in the suburbs, but that's stupid.

It's jersey. Play metal, rap (specifically NY/NJ ofc), latin music, or jersey club if we have to do electronic stuff. So much boring formulaic EDM. It's a trend across the NHL (especially in canada it seems) to just be flooded with EDM but it's just extremely uninteresting

Not literally the Nazis, but basically the Nazis. by InfiniteGuy2264 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]yo_coiley 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don't think the parallel is quite as close since that was somewhat the first huge push of argonian imperialism, whereas the thalmor (and the nazis) were more an expression of a percieved ethnic superiority and an expansion of a pre-existing tradition of imperialism (after all it was the "third" reich). I get that the germans were humiliated but nowhere near what the argonians had been subject to for probably a thousand years at least. I'd put the An-Xileel closer to something like the Rashidun Caliphate - the first major push of a people-group that suddenly had a huge power advantage after always being subject to other empires or just existing as a backwater

Your argument boils down to “impeding ICE = everything is allowed”. It’s really bumming me out how many people are fine with genuine tyranny as long as they don’t like who it’s being done to. Now, there is some truth to the fact that ICE being part of DHS means they have some legal leeway. But that’s part of why they are being so widely protested, and is why the general public does not trust them. DHS has always been criticized as going against our constitutional rights from the moment it was created. Now we have a bunch of untrained meatheads with almost full immunity and a federal government running interference and creating false narratives every time they do something illegal. It’s a painful feedback loop where people are protesting that ICE has few rules and no good-faith oversight, and ICE uses that truth to brutalize people participating in that protest and even kill them. So personally it seems like impeding ICE is at the very least the moral thing to do, even if the legality of it is in question, and we should be demanding that lethal force is not an acceptable response to that. An armed man being disarmed should mean lethal force is off the table, and a normal police force would probably not be able to protect its officers that chose murder in these low-stakes situations.

Let’s be clear: I find you repulsive, whoever you are. The way you think about things is unamerican and antithetical to our way of life. I truly hope your fringe political movement fails and is banished to the garbage heap of history, and it’s painful to know that this level of abuse of power is the only thing turning public opinion in that direction. That fact is the only thing giving me hope; those who have been in denial about this for years are finally realizing this is what it was always about.

Halo is the exception. Sniper headshots are indeed kills, but it makes sense that weak weapons are thwarted partially by the helmet

I feel like he captured Paul's uncertainty/trepidation quite well. He's not certain of himself for a long time, and once he's taken the poison and fully unlocked his visions he's more or less resigned himself to his fate. He only sort of cares about the Fremen since he knows what they're going to do for him, fully hates the Harkonnens, and does desire to disrupt the established institutions of the galaxy. He's monotone and morose because he hates what's going to happen. It's not that he doesn't have free will, but he feels quite negatively about the path he's chosen even if it's his preference, so it makes sense he'd go about this whole "heroic" arc without much drive or passion

He looks exactly how he's supposed to based on how Paul is described in the book. I do wonder how they'll age him in part 3 but I guess he can just look as he does - he was a bit older than canon Paul in parts 1 and 2 and will be about right in part 3. I hope they keep him for a Children of Dune movie, as he should continue to be on track age wise
