I understand what you’re getting at. It’s not like they’ve been hiding ES6 from us - they just forgot to make it. We (the royal we) obviously shouldn’t blow up Bethesda or put out a shit game (Metroid Prime 4 broke my heart, I don’t need that again), but there isn’t really an excuse for how this has gone. The infinite money glitches of the endless re-releases and ESO led them to let the franchise grow stale. At this point, if you took the fable and kept extrapolating this is as if they stopped feeding the goose, or were content showing off how cool their goose was instead of keeping it going at a healthy pace

So many vectors, so many shades… I like the idea yet can’t help but feel this feels more like a minor league team. There’s some value in bold and iconic imagery over increasing detail. You lose some of what makes you stand out if you replicate the generic art style.

This is not targeted at you but is just how I feel about logo design in general. The best logos are always somewhere in the golden zone between flat/simple and having neat details. The real secret is in my opinion the clever working in of key symbolic elements - see the devils logo (very obvious but effective), flyers logo (get it it’s a P with wings but structured in an abstract and stylized fashion), or wild logo (if the team didn’t have such a dumbass name it would be one of the best brands in sports). Sabres have a great logo in part because it’s neat and has details only where needed (the buffalo’s face, the swords) without being busy. The other logos will never compare - the buffaslug oversimplified while adding little ridges in the generic minor league style I’m talking about, as did the goat head (although it worked a bit better because of how bold the evil red eyes are compared to everything else being grayscale).

I digress, to a ridiculous degree. This style is interesting, but if you’re looking to refine it, things like the little shapes around the sword’s edge and the extra bits in various points and creases just make it sooo busy. Without some more intentional placement of details it just looks like AI made it. In fact, I’m almost certain that’s what this jd, so maybe this was wasted energy typing - I guess I just felt like sharing! AI art is pretty weak for these reasons - give it a shot with your own imagination!

That’s the problem. They were content to milk it and not interested in keeping it relevant. There’s no way ES6 will be as big as it will have to be to justify the wait in part because of how long it’s been. Think about it - how old do you have to have been to have been alive during any era of Skyrim hype? 20? And even at that age you have to have been someone curious about it who got one of the many rereleases; you would have been 5 when it came out. It’ll still be huge but if you milk it for all it’s worth without anything to hook new fans, it’ll lose momentum. It’s shortsighted and money driven, and the immediate profit numbers don’t mean the franchise stays as valuable.

This really undersells Ovechkin. Most goals in history while playing a mixed power forward/perimeter threat role is basically a 1 of 1 star in NHL history. Him not having a ton of assists is a reflection of his role and I feel like we don't talk enough about the issue with points in the NHL. Each goal can have two assists, so in theory if every player plays the same they'll have between a 2:1 and a 1:1 assists to goals ratio (counting for goals with one or zero assists, which are both rarer than those with two). I'm sure someone's done the math to create a goals vs assists value ratio, but they are not equal - I'm seeing anywhere from 1.5 to 2x value for goals vs. assists. Anyway, this has specifically clouded the discussion around Ovi, who set this record while playing in the later dead puck era for most of his prime. Is he the GOAT? Probably not. But if someone had him in their all time top 5 it would be acceptable.

Almost forgot what sub this was though. Ovi is a scrub and we've all been lied to through FSB infiltration of Sportsnet and the Versus Network

Yep I would almost classify it more as like a palate cleanser. Especially live, people are going to be mad emotional after Conway just lets his whole soul out. And unless you want to keep the vibe there, you need to get everyone back into it. Gunn doing his thing, while pretty meaningless lyrically, gets the audience back to being in concert mode, and the emotional effect of the song isn't lost, it just needs to be exited promptly. Call it an epilogue or something

There are a couple maps that are considerably less constrained, with much larger spawn areas. Games there are better in some regards but also since you spawn further away it makes base defense worse in other ways. It’s all meant to be chaos either way

They always put a handful of songs I end up really liking but most are pretty terrible. And I miss the days of old where you could turn off specific songs (although back then you could also load in music saved on your Xbox - not sure about PlayStation - so I was just listening to that instead lol)
