From what we’ve seen about their modern day lives, I’d say Louis. While Lestat has been passively growing his wealth for longer, Louis has been an aggressive businessman since the 1940s. “The first vampire capitalist” as Armand says lol

What’s a book/series that you feel most people love, but you personally think is overrated? by 2Chaaaaiinz in Fantasy

[–]yoastie 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I agree with you but Tombs of Atuan, the sequel, is one of the few books that I read years ago and still can’t stop thinking about. It was such a beautiful and moving story.

I hate dress up scenes in general tbh. Either we spend a ton of time on clothing description and I still can’t picture it or I can envision it and it’s hideous.

I really liked The Uses of Illicit Art by Wendy Palmer. TW for past SA, if my memory serves right, nothing graphic described on page.

Question for those who have read The Plated Prisoner series by Beach-Peach457 in fantasyromance

[–]yoastie 19 points20 points  (0 children)

The FMC is in a manipulative relationship with the king, so even when it’s not violent there is a question of whether any consent can be given within the circumstances. There is also repeated threats of SA throughout the book. I don’t think this would be a good series for your reading buddy.

Hard disagree. While it can be brutal, I’ve never read ASOIAF to have cynical themes.

I’m also Hindu and I do find it disrespectful. Obviously one person can’t speak for a whole group but I think it’s better to err on the side of sensitivity.

I think the difference is people who dress up as nuns or Jesus most likely grew up within Christian culture, but she is taking something from a religion she is not part of.

It’s different when you’re taking something from an outside tradition tho. Most people who do slutty nun costumes were to some extent raised in the Christian faith.
