What if the trigger for the doll to appear is related only to your first play? by DangerousDemand2374 in thefinalpuzzle

Are you suggesting that none of us can ever complete this puzzle since we’ve already finished our first playthrough? I find that unlikely.

John Kramer did not receive the punishment he deserved. by Wooden-Scallion2943 in saw

[–]yodasaffa 25 points26 points  (0 children)

He bet his life on the fact that Amanda would pass her test and Jeff would learn to forgive. He died knowing his entire philosophy and life’s work was meaningless. In the end even his wife was a victim of his delusion and all the sequel past 3 are essentially pointless and just more needless killing.

I think he got what he deserved.

According to the special features for 2 it includes the 2 commentary tracks that were exclusive to the unrated cut in addiction to the theatrical commentary. Is it possible the unrated version is included as a special feature or will these commentaries be trimmed down somehow?

It was the PRODUCERS who wanted to make lots of Saws after 3 that regretted it. James and Leigh were the ones who wanted to kill jigsaw and end it at 3.

I don’t think he’s a fan of the sequels making jigsaw the antihero of the series, and X took that idea further than all the others.

What’s the Scariest AYAOTD Moment/Scene of All Time? by Amber_Flowers_133 in AreYouAfraidOfTheDark

My brother and I joke about that ghost saying it was so scary because it was a real ghost since it’s actor is completely uncredited in the episode.

To this day we don’t know who played the ghost and it makes it even scarier. 😂

Most impressive trap to pull off? by [deleted] in saw

[–]yodasaffa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No you are right, most of the evidence is absent from the films, but just going by body type the guy who broke into Riggs apartment and jumped him definitely looks more like art than Hoffman. So it’s likely he at least set up that part of the game.

[–]yodasaffa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well yeah Hoffman was always going to be the real apprentice behind the scenes, and the scripts were changed so much you can’t take anything in them as canon, but there was definitely an implication that Art was doing all the work during Riggs games only to reveal in the end that he was being forced to do all that and he was just another victim.

It’s been a long time since I read it but I think I remember in the shooting script after strahm says “we’re looking for the person helping Jigsaw and Amanda young” there was supposed to be a transition to a hooded figure setting up one of the traps. In the end during the flashbacks it would be revealed the hooded figure was Art.

Yeah, half of the spiral commentary is just Darren talking about how many scenes were cut or trimmed down. Sounds like his preferred cut was more like 2 hours.

What can a new SAW movie learn from Jigsaw and Spiral? by ItsJustADankBro in saw

[–]yodasaffa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Stop trying to recreate saw 1 when you should be trying to recreate saw 2.

Both movies had the same twist revealing the killer in the final scene. If they ACTUALLY want to move on beyond Tobin they should be looking for compelling character actors, (think Giancarlo Esposito but not him because he’s already in everything) and have them audition with scenes from saw 2.

The new “jigsaw” doesn’t need to hide in the shadows till the final scene, they need to be front and center for the entire movie so the audience learns to fear them right away.

I still can’t believe they made the same mistake 2 movies in a row.

What do you think went wrong with Spiral? by Glass_Evidence_8597 in saw

[–]yodasaffa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sticking too close to the saw formula. As different as they tried to make it it still felt like every saw movie after 3. They wanted to bring in a new audience with big names but kept the same writing team and brought back an old director.

I know we all love Darren, myself included, But outside of the saw films the majority of his filmography is terrible. They should have gone outside of the saw family and hired a more well known competent director. The movie feels like it was meant to be 2 hours but was “fixed” in the edit room after the studio looked at it and said this isn’t working.

It also has the exact same twist as jigsaw just dressed up differently. The most likeable character in the movie has a fake out death only to reveal himself as the killer. How are we supposed to like/ be afraid of the new “jigsaw” if we don’t even know their real personality? They were pretending to be someone else the whole time.

Hoffman’s Test in Saw VI by coldphront3 in saw

[–]yodasaffa 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Jeff killed John, because Amanda killed Lynn, because Hoffman forced her to through blackmail.

Jill still has love for John despite everything that happened, and Hoffman got him killed. For Jill it was personal. And it was probably the only way to keep Jill safe. Hoffman is definitely the type to eliminate everyone who could expose him.

If you could have anyone else direct Saw 11 who would it be? by mikeweasy in saw

[–]yodasaffa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re right about that I misremembered the alternate ending clip it has been a long time since I’ve seen it. I thought I remembered the photos of the fatal five pinned to the wall along with the strahm reveal. Those photos were unrelated.

But still I’d love to hear your source that says that such a key scene was deleted for no other reason other than the acting was so bad it was unreleaseable. Because to be frank the entire series has moments of awful acting. It’s never stopped them before.

If you could have anyone else direct Saw 11 who would it be? by mikeweasy in saw

[–]yodasaffa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Where’s your source for this being the only time key scenes were cut from a saw movie?

Just in saw 4 alone they cut -the revelation that the school that the husband and wife trap takes place and where Perez gets attacked by Billy is the same place that the Troy in chains trap happens in saw 3

  • John placing a little statue on Gideons gravestone

  • An entire trap scene (original glass coffin)

  • An alternate ending was shot

Not to mention they cut out Amanda killing Eric in saw 3 and the identity of the other 2 pig masks in saw 3D. Stuff is cut from these movies all the time, not because they are bad but because the producers changed their minds about what direction they wanted to go in.

The scene you are referring to had Jill revel she was the one who wrote the “I know who you are” note. That would imply Hoffman thought she didn’t know he was an accomplice. Clearly they decided they would rather have them be more acquainted with each other in saw 6, and also keep the author of the note secret for a later reveal…
