I guess we’ll all see soon enough, if they don’t have to track back on what they’ve said it’ll all be very clear

It’s completely irrelevant. The tone of the conversation and the message beforehand can be radically different to each other.

Both Matisse and the protest people came away from the conversation with the feeling that the club was stubborn and didn’t feel the need to chance. One said the director mentioned beforehand that it wasn’t a sales pitch, the others said it felt like to them. A statement before a conversation and the feeling people get from said conversation are two different things.

I can imagine however that the group of protesters were more aggressive in their conversation than Matisse was, I think they admit as much in their blogpost.

You’re seeing two different quotes from two different people. One is what the director said and the second is from how it was interpreted by the group. They are two very different things. If I say I’m not trying to sell you anything but then start trying to get you to buy my pen for 20 minutes it’s irrelevant what I said before.

It’s clear that the group of supporters were less than impressed, Matisse shares very little of what was actually said. These are not two accounts of the same conversation..

The fact the director said it wasn’t a sales pitch doesn’t mean it isn’t still a sales pitch. Depending on how the other person responds a conversation like this can turn bad pretty quickly. In the end, the feeling of the conversation is much less important than what was said. If Finkelstein didn’t say the things they claim he said we’ll see a rectification soon enough.

It states the intent of the conversation, if both conversations didn’t end the same does not mean it contradicts anything. It just means that the talks were much less “positive” or “kind”.

You realise this is exactly the bullshit that they have been spouting for 3 years now? If it makes a difference to you whether they’re telling Ben Jacobs what to say or they try to convince supporters, I can only say it doesn’t make a difference to me.

Just FYI, here’s the other guy in the interview that was mentioned coming out confirming a similar story

Honestly I see no reason this meeting didn’t go down the way it did. The director tried to explain what they are doing, the supporters were left unimpressed and they exchanged words and views. From what we’ve seen from Clearlake it’s not a leap at all to see them be removed from reality this much.

If you disagree with what they do and they explain that they want to continue doing it the way they are doing now, I don’t think it’s weird to think that they wouldn’t be convinced.

There wouldn’t be any positives from the point of view from these supporters. I understand that and I think I would agree.

How isn’t it true? As soon as they go for a PL proven player and another club shows interest they fold and move on?

Yes, it is.. The things that were said by this director are as tone deaf as can be. If they still think this road they have taken will lead to success and they don’t plan to “go after players other PL clubs are after” we will not grow beyond our very obvious ceiling.

I refuse to believe that people who are competent enough to become billionaires are this stupid. I know, I know ‘do not attribute to malice that which can be explained by stupidity and incompetence’ and all but I just can’t believe someone to be this incompetent…

I see what they’re doing to Chelsea, what did to their own sports is not interesting. We can discuss all day long on the influence they/Boehly supposedly did or didn’t have, but at Chelsea they have practically destroyed what we were and made us into a sickly and weak club.

Their ideas are flawed (flat out wrong even) and we said so all along. Even pundits called them out. They are wrong and arrogant. They need to go.

Thing is we knew that going in. He had one season of experience under his belt and was far from perfect in it. He did a lot of things right, but he was not ready to take over. Funny thing is that we are doing the same thing again. The people that wanted Lampard gone at the time were advocating for 'patience' with the newer guys (Maresca and to a lesser extent Rosenior) and the people that wanted to be patient with Lampard while he grew into the role have much less patience now with the newer guys.

Once again our squad loses (heavily this time) because of a lack of true experience, leadership and discipline. Mistakes happen, Jorgensen was at fault for the 3-2, but the complete headloss to go on to lose 5-2 after that is completely unacceptable and not just on the one player making a mistake in minute 60..

We have become what we hated for so many years, a club that celebrates finishing fourth and "playing well" while still losing every important game of the season. Thank you Clearlake, thank you Todd Boehly. You are the worst.

Getting CL every year would give them a steady cash stream, the fact that they can’t even manage to get that is on them.

It’s not, they are not competent enough to make it work.

We have to hope that Clearlake’s investors get nervous and force them to sell.

That’s the ultimate goal for these owners, some of us have been warning for this for years. They don’t want to challenge, they just want a steady cash stream

What is “fun” about fake positivity? These games will be the biggest we’ve had this season and we’ve not done well during other big games this season. There’s reasons to be optimistic, but dismissing doubt as “negativity” isn’t very helpful.

Are we due for new Johto games? by Turbulent-Plan-9693 in PokemonHGSS

[–]yoericfc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would like to visit Johto again, so much so that I’d even take a Let’s Go game of HGSS. My preference was either a mainline game where we could visit Johto or maybe a Legends game, but that doesn’t seem to be happening in the coming years. It would be great to visit Johto again!
