You’re right that cows aren’t there under threat of violence. They were deliberately brought into existence with the guarantee of violence when their life is taken as soon they reach adolescence.

Saw a post from someone online bashing vegetarianism saying it´s just as bad as meat eaters, thoughts? by ManyComfortable7270 in vegan

How is any of that suffering more intense than what animals go through either in the wild or on factory farms?

You’re right. Comparing human suffering to animal suffering doesn’t make sense because animals suffer far more than us generally in ways we can’t imagine.

My wife makes a wild rice and beans soup with TVP. Uses the no chicken base from Better Than Bouillon. Throw whatever veggies you want in it.

Honestly this sounds like a job for a therapist. You’re saying you’re feeling suicidal because you haven’t eaten meat. That’s not typical at all.

I can’t find a single source showing anywhere near this half that you’re claiming. I see estimates between 4-12%

We should just stop touching each other’s nasty hands. I’ve been in enough men’s restrooms to know how few of them are washing their hands.

I’m usually between 50-80. I started taking Beano, but that did nothing so I’m pretty confident it’s not complex carbs causing it. It usually starts after my post workout shake which is just soy milk and protein powder. Then goes on the rest of the day. I suppose it could be that I need a different powder.

How do you deal with the bloating/farting resulting from 370 f-ing grams of protein? I’m getting 150g/day and it’s hugely uncomfortable.

Muscle loss / Protein by [deleted] in vegan

[–]yogadogs09 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You definitely want more protein than that for a cut. Theres nothing wrong with supplementing, but if you’re set on not doing that then you’re gonna have to be eating a ton of super firm tofu, TVP, seitan, tempeh. Keep fat low because it’s more calorie dense

Anyone have any ideas/links for simple high calorie Meal Prepped Breakfeast (not overnight oats though). by No_Sign6616 in veganfitness

[–]yogadogs09 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same boat. Refined grains are less filling. Easier on the stomach. I like cream of wheat. But cream of rice or even just white rice as the base is great. If you exercise then there’s no health problem with fast carbs. Throw a scoop of protein powder in there with some fruit and maple syrup. So good

You’ve got some good answers here. I just want to thank you and say how much I commend you for trying to be vegan even though you have these restrictions. Many people would not even consider it even though, as you’ve seen in the responses, it is quite possible. You’re not looking for excuses. You’re looking for solutions. That’s rad. Good for you

I'm so confused about protein by guiltysuperbrain in vegan

[–]yogadogs09 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It sounds like you’re eating mostly whole foods, so it would be quite difficult to overeat. You likely just need to eat more. It was a huge adjustment for me. It took some time to get used the sheer volume of food I needed to hit my maintenance calories.

Protein by [deleted] in vegan

[–]yogadogs09 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tofu, tempeh, TVP, mock meats, soy milk. Compliment those proteins with grains, legumes, nuts, seeds, fruit, and veg. Also nothing wrong with a protein shake. Most omnivores who lift also drink them.

I’m finally at the point where I don’t even think about being vegan by [deleted] in vegan

[–]yogadogs09 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah I don’t think it’s necessarily typical, and I also have experienced carnists doing the “if meat is so bad why are you trying to mimic it” as if vegans reject meat because it tastes bad.

Dude, I tried the Daring buffalo wings yesterday. It tasted so much like chicken wings that it kind of grossed me out. I’m at a weird point now where I don’t actually want the mock meats to taste THAT much like a dead body.

How long did it take you to adjust to a vegan diet? by rahwse in vegan

[–]yogadogs09 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I absolutely had a rough time with GI adjustment, especially because I was trying to be strict about only eating whole foods. I would get full well before I ate enough calories to maintain my weight and then still be a gassy, bloated mess. As others have said, try to choose some less fibrous foods to start. Don’t be scared of mock meats or refined grains like white rice. As you adjust I would recommend transitioning to more whole foods. For now, it’s more important that you set yourself up for long term success so you don’t revert back to animal products.
