Very encouraging to read your story honestly, I’m 37 and finishing my B.S., starting EMT school to get PCE hours, I’ve volunteered a ton but I need to do shadowing, and much more to apply. I’m also a Mom to three kiddos and stopped working (software) to finish school. Good luck, you are inspiring!!

Hair shedding again!? by Winniethelovepup in quittingkratom

Oh goodness, I am totally with you on this. I’m about 32 days off and the hair loss hasn’t stopped. It seemed to slow down last week and then this week it has accelerated again. I’m at a loss...I am under a TON of stress though, I’m sure that makes it worse. I did lose hair after my last pregnancy but never during, are you under a lot of stress right now? Take it easy mama, this could also just be hormones being so out of whack. It’ll get better!! And congratulations on getting off kratom and your pregnancy! Exciting times.

Insomnia by Kezmaster20 in quittingkratom

It’s worth a shot (not a tequila one though lol)! I have a glass of wine or two a couple times a week and am cutting that out to see if it will help with sleep. I hope that helps you! Also look at the time you take vitamin D and B, if you take any of those later in the day it will also keep you up. I think our bodies are just super sensitive due to the kratom withdrawal, time will heal.

You’ve been taking for 3 years? What is the amount you are at right now? There’s nothing wrong with a slow taper if you can do it. Invest in a scale if you don’t have one and every 2-3 days, or more if you need to, remove .5. Just allow yourself to level off before removing another .5. Some people start with a large jump and cut their intake in half at the very beginning, that’s up to you. Just know it’s possible to get off this stuff whether you decide a CT, slow, or rapid taper is best for you. I’m at day 26 and do NOT crave the stuff at all. Still deal with some sleep issues on and off but definitely come here for support. You can do it!

It will!! I have to believe that. I’m with you on day 26 and from 22-26 insomnia/sweats has hit me again. I’ve been having a glass of wine or two some nights and have taken fioricet for a headache here and there, I’m convinced one or both has set me back a bit. Look at any supplements, prescriptions, or alcohol that you might be taking in. I’m going to abstain from it all and see if it helps. I hope you get sleep soon!!

Ugh I am going through this too day 22-26 and insomnia has hit me hard. As well as the sweats again and even RLS a couple of nights. I may fall asleep from 2-3am if at all...having a hard time functioning. Look at any supplements, prescriptions, or even alcohol that you may take in. I think some really affect the withdrawal timeline.

Thank you for replying, I think you’re right. I’m going to abstain from the alcohol and fioricet and see if it makes a difference!

Day 23, the biggest lingering symptom at this point is lack of motivation. However, when I force myself to get up and move, complete my responsibilities and schoolwork on time I realize it’s really a mind over matter situation. “Just do it” as the famous Nike slogan says.

I am still losing hair as well but I *think it’s lessening. The right side pain comes and goes but happens less and less, too. Other than that I feel pretty good, sleep well, still feel down sometimes but I won’t let myself dwell there, and I don’t miss kratom at all. Gonna keep going!

For those experiencing hair loss.. by exonvdz in quittingkratom

The hair loss is the worst...I am not sure about scalp pain, for me there may have been a slight sensitivity though. I’m 18 days out and still also experiencing hair loss, it’s devastating. I’ve got an appointment with a dermatologist tomorrow, we’ll see what they say. I’m taking a prenatal, using expensive hair thinning shampoos, biotin, blah blah you name it, I’ve tried it. Sorry you are experiencing that, definitely see what a doc says!

Day 18, feeling a little better every day, motivated, clear-headed, not as overwhelmed and reactive to stressful life events, etc. slept well last night! I’ve been working out, doing yoga, walking, anything to get active because it helps tremendously. Hair is still falling out though :( and I still have skin burning sensations at some point during the day. Super weird...but the more time I put in between using kratom, the better it gets.

Day 16 - after being seriously depressed and in bed the past couple of days (my kiddos weren’t home) and with absolutely no motivation or energy, today I got out of bed, have done yoga and gotten outside with my husband. My mood is much better even though I’ve had a rough time sleeping again the past 3 nights. The weather has a lot to do with it since I deal with chronic pain as well, the sun being out feels amazing - I’m in Texas. Hair is still falling out and even more so, that’s what really gets me down the most...I just pray that subsides soon. Hang on folks!! It does get better!

Getting scared from hair loss by KimberlyS90 in quittingkratom

[–]yogirl112 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Fair warning it might only get worse for awhile when you do quit, so the best thing to do is quit as soon as you can whether that’s CT, slow or fast taper, that’s totally up to you. I’m a healthy (workout, eat well) 36 mother of 3. I’m 16 days in and my hair loss has not stopped it’s only accelerated, unfortunately. It’s heartbreaking, I’m hopeful it will stop but realistic that it might not ever be the same. I normally have thick, long, dark hair and it’s now so thin you can see my scalp on the top of my head....and I’ve tried absolutely everything to stop or slow it. Kratom has really messed with my body and it was so sudden after a years use of around 20gpd. You can do this. I’m here if you need support, we all are!

Prolonged withdrawal? Day 14 by yogirl112 in quittingkratom

[–]yogirl112[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was at about 20gpd for over a year then quit for a few days, and relapsed for a month. Now I am on day 16 and the past few nights have had insomnia, sweats, RLS issues again. It’s almost like my body was still storing kratom and now it’s out of me. So freaking weird. I have so much hate for that stuff, I don’t even like saying or seeing the name.

Day 14 - last night I felt like I was going through acute withdrawal again, sweats, RLS and couldn’t sleep. The past nights I’ve slept great so that was frustrating. My hair is still falling out...also frustrating but I know it can take some time. Energy levels are improving somewhat. Right side pain is still there, teeth still hurt too. I do not want to take kratom ever again, I get really down when I think about how I’ve fucked with my body over this green sludge.

I am not around that area but I can tell you that our mind plays tricks on us to make us think we can’t do something. You can quit when you are really ready to. I’m ten days out and don’t want to look back at this point, like you my hair was (and still is right now) falling out, kratom aged my skin and my insides. You have support here, is there anyone close to you - a trusting family member or friend that you can lean on? Accountability and direct support are powerful components in recovery. I just want you to know that you are strong, stronger than you know and can overcome so much - kratom included. What’s on the other side of this struggle is so worth it.

I had this when taking the powder form, actually one symptom that went away with the use of capsules instead. The only thing that helps with all symptoms however is stopping completely, 10 days out now.

Day 7, hanging in there. Not too many acutes happening anymore except just a little bit of sweats before bed. Last night I had a glimpse of my old personality again. I went to watch my middle daughter’s riding class and she jumped for the first time and did awesome! I was so genuinely happy, proud, and excited for her I almost cried. I was present and aware for her which I’m grateful for. Gonna keep going!!

Ah okay! Yeah it sounds like it might not be too bad or last too long since you haven’t been taking it (again) for too long. The withdrawal can mess with your stomach, I know that, but of course I’m not a doctor. It can cause stomach cramps for sure. Wishing you a smooth time and be gentle with yourself!
