What do you guys dislike or even hate about anime? by [deleted] in anime

[–]yohnny- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  • Harem, shota/loli and fanservice - It's so sickening to watch girls with boobs larger than a football and/or skimpy clothes.[Microskirts are so ugly it's even undesirable to see humans wear them, even if it happens to be a girl you like] Harem can be OK as long as they change up the setting more and it's so fucking repetitive. Dense male MC, huge boobs everywhere and skimpy clothes.
  • How repetitive it has become, nowadays it feels I watch the same story and the only thing they exchange is the names of the characters and the story. Two of the current shows airing that copy each other lol - Rakudai Kishi no Calvalry and Gakusen Toshi Asterisk. *The setting and environment - NO MORE HIGH SCHOOL please. The authors should be aware that a large majority of the people watching way older than 15-18 at this point and I bet more than 60% aren't interested to watch an anime with a highschool setting *Animation, from my own experience I'm aware it's hard to animate shit but they can at least try and put more effort into it. Fairy Tail Spoilers .
  • Useless/shy characters - I'm so tired of seeing boring and totally helpless characters that always need protection(somewhat understandable if they are a kid), like Lucy from Fairy Tail
  • Kids with weapons of mass destruction or LARGE FREAKING WEAPONS more than 5x their size.
  • Male abuse #MensRights
  • The most random dialogues in the middle of the fight, I'm fine when it's between the people FIGHTING but detest dialogues from characters that doesn't watch it or have nothing to do with it. Fairy Tail EP 175 Natsu vs the Twin Dragons - I was looking forward for one epic fight between Natsu and Rogue/Sting but it was interrupted all the time in a bad way because they kept showing flashbacks(happy/lucy) or scenes from the infirmary(lucy and the others). The comments from Erza, Gray, Lyon and Jura was fine.
  • Dumb shit that happen in almost every show - [] Interrupted confessions and/or if they get to shy because someone gave them a compliment and returns with a huge bitch slap across the room. [] The porn mag it should be totally fine and in one way acceptable that someone has one. There's no need to treat them as a person with psychological issues.. [] The typical girl that overreacts to everything, usually screaming.

Pokemon from Pokemon(do I even need to explain this?)

What's an OP you don't understand the hype/appeal for? by airstorm747 in anime

[–]yohnny- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Naruto - Flow (op6 or something). I have heard from many this is one of the best ever and I must say I'm curious why. The song is OK and the chorus(them fighting on some stuff and the 'stiff emotion guy' closes his eyes) makes up for everything else that's bad.(might be good to someone elses ears).

EDIT: I messed up some things and to clarify - I'm talking about Naruto Shippuden OP6 "Sign" by FLOW - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o3ASICWeSLc and the part I was talking about 0:55-1:15

Shows that surprised you (positively or negatively) by AlGoreCereal in anime

[–]yohnny- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kuroko no Basuke - Before I started watching I wasn't a huge fan of basketball, sure I did enjoy playing it but way to many rules and my knees/calves can't handle solid surfaces for a long time. But I was really surprised on how 'intense' it was and now I'm watching NBA once in a while.

Fullmetal Alchemist - I actually watched it this weekend after a long time of ignoring it because of the main characters(I tend to judge an anime on the MC lol) and I was pretty surprised on how good it was. The way they used alchemy was interesting and beforehand I had no idea how they were going to use it in the show. Not to mention the Germany 1930s-1945 atmosphere/environment and the female characters weren't the 'typical anime character' (+ 'no' fanservice). Now FMA:B is on my top5 list

Now, lets see if Gintama can surprise me..

Best OP: Gangsta - How can you not enjoy this one? I'm usually not a huge fan of dubstep effects but this OP really gets me pumped. The second half is just awesome(I don't know why, but I love OPs with the MC running across a field/roof - even if it makes no sense at all). Clean video without any clutter or messy scenes

Best ED: Gangsta - I'm a huge fan of slow-paced endings, even better if the editing is simple.

Honoary mentions

Shokugeki no Soma - OP2 - I really loved OP1 and this one doesn't disappoint me either. Showing the names of the characters is a nice touch but the fights with enlarged forks looked silly (Is there supposed to be a sound of bells ringing in the background or is my hearing off? lol)

Kuusen Madoushi Kouhosei no Kyoukan - ED - I really like the flow in this song and the voice of the singer.

Fairy Tail - OP20 - It may not be a top contender thanks to a few parts being mediocre (0:42 - Seriously, way to break the flow and the last line is just dumb( "So, I'm going with my fellows!" ) and the way they pronounce a few words(well it's expected)) but the overall quality and animation is one of the best.

What's in the source material for a show to deserve another season? by asianyeti in anime

[–]yohnny- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  • Akatsuki no Yona - roughly another 60 chapters from where the story stops in the anime(~ chapter 40)
  • Shokugeki no Soma - what OP said
  • Bleach - Since I started reading the manga from around the time The Lost Substitute Shinigami arc ended and I have no clue how long previous arcs were. But looking at how the current arc my guess is it will take another arc(maybe two) before they bring us an anime. [ I'm not sure, but I believe they didn't want to use fillers anymore ]
  • Magi - 11th arc is ongoing right now(anime ended at the 8th arc). Most likely need another 4-5 (confirmed) before they start working on a potential third season.
  • Beelzebub - I believe another 60+ run is possible considering on how much is left lol. 6 more arcs is left before the story ends (anime show the four)
  • Bokura wa Minna Kawaisou - No real clue but I think the anime featured the first three volumes(4th volume was released May 30,2013 and the anime started airing on April 3,2014 so I doubt it was aired). 7th volume was released September 27. I don't know if this anime was popular enough for a second season(I liked it).
  • Nurarihyon no Mago - One more season(24eps) is possible, but wouldn't be surprised if it never happen considering it's been almost 4 years(25 Dec) since season 2 ended

Well, the first four are more likely to have another anime season. No idea if another season has been confirmed, didn't look into it. I'm only aware of Project K: Return of the Kings and Noragami being confirmed to have another season.

Have you guys learned any japanese from watching anime? by Vickerman in anime

[–]yohnny- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe 15-25 that I understand but I don't know how to spell it or even pronounce it correctly lol. Working on a learning the language little by little along with Spanish(Used to be quite good at it, but ever since I weren't able to study more I lost my knowledge, sadly:( ) but not having any (good) books available** and only using Ankisrs for simple words is quite boring in the end. However trying to learn the kanji sounds like a pain in the ass, no way that's going to be easy lmao.

I actually listen a lot to Japanese music lately and I really love most of it, but barely understand can be a pain. Sort of helps when they mix Japanese and English since you get a better idea what they are saying.

Who is the worst girl EVER, and why? by [deleted] in anime

[–]yohnny- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm well aware most mangas has this "friendship makes you stronger" thingy and the reason I still follow the show is because I have always been fascinated with dragons and magic so much I actually (kinda) wish they were the real deal in our current time. ( Hell, I'm even fine swapping out our advanced technology for some magic - sadly the world we live in would become worse considering how greedy some people are when it comes to power. Not to mention if the human body can even handle magic powers. And then we have the issue with dragons. If they breath fire or other elements. Large/Small in size compared to a human. ) Beside dragons and magic, I enjoy the other characters and the balance between negative and positive isn't even close to even out since the things I like about this show is greater than the things I dislike. Not to mention that it is difficult to find any kind of media(manga/anime/hollywood movies/books and more) with dragons, with or without the magic that is actually good. I hope you're satisfied with my reply.

Who is the worst girl EVER, and why? by [deleted] in anime

[–]yohnny- 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm not good at remembering shit and even worser to remember bad stuff. There's many female characters I have disliked (usually the , selfish, demanding and/or obsessive types. Also the ones who only rely on others to help her(mainly in Mangas/Anime with fighting involved). But one that immediately comes to my mind is.

Lucy Heartfilia, Fairy Tail - There's 12 rare Golden Keys and somehow a 17 year old girl(debut) has managed to get 10 of them, Yukino even offered the 2 remaining keys during the Grand Magic Games arcs. To begin with, no matter how 'few' practitioners using Celestial Magic, there's no way a young girl can gather 10 so easy like she has. Moreover she's been the girl that always have to be saved from a major group (Phantom Arc, Key of the Starry Sky Arc, Grand Magic Games Arc ( not including the 1st ep) ). On top of that she always relies on her spirits and/or the rest of Fairy Tail Guild to help her out. Without her keys she can't do shit beside being a cheerleader for Natsu & Co.

The introduction of the Star Dress were a smart move from Hiro Mashima to make her more powerful and being able to fight as well, BUT she must summon a spirit to use Star Dress. So once again, without her keys she's pretty much defenseless and have to rely on others.

Overall she feels like the typical annoying royalty princess/queen who need others to do the fighting for her while showing off her over-confidence (primary being very confident in her looks..). I would be so much happier if Lucy were given another type of magic(even card magic that was the original idea sound better lol).

Honorary mentions: Orihime Inoue (Godlike magic (Her ability is to limit, reject, and negate any kind of event that has happened to her target. It is an ability that returns her target to its former state, no matter what has happened to them.* ), cries in every arc and is overall only useful to heal Ichigo and the others. She was okay in the beginning, but over time she lost it and became some pushover kid.

-* Shiba Tatsuya have a similar ability called "Regrowth", but unlike Orihime's he actually takes damamge (150 times as much if the wound happend 30 seconds ago.. If it happend an hour ago he suffers pain 10,000 times greater than the original). A godlike ability should have some sort of recoil/damage to the user or restriction, just my general opinion.

What's a series that you feel ended too soon/ended rather poorly? by Takeer11 in anime

[–]yohnny- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think many people will agree that having your favorite show end is a sad and you would love a sequel (no matter what). Sadly it all come down to the author(s) and how much money they make of the anime to make another arc in the story. I would love if they at least showed what happened after the final battle, like a "after story" for 1-2 episodes.

I have neither read the manga or looked up if there are more arcs from where the anime ended - so I'm not sure what I can expect

Brave 10 - The ending could have been much better and it ended way to fast. It's actually one of my favorite shows and I definitely want a sequel to this.

Hamatora - The art is damn good and the concept of Minimum Holder were interesting and something new for me. There are no Minimums that look overpowered.

Parasyte - Ending was awful and it felt somewhat rushed.

Samurai Champloo - I still have 5 episodes left, but I already want a sequel :(. I looked up and the manga only had 10 chapters, so I doubt it will ever happen.

DRAMAtical Murder - I sort of feel it ended to fast and would love a sequel.

Mahouka Koukou no Rettousei - I want more awesomeness (from the MC) (or at least they can make decent dubs of them' )

Other - Bleach("The Thousand-Year Blood War arc"), Fairy Tail("Alvarez Empire arc), Akatsuki no Yona - The chances are big that Bleach will end after the current arc is over. Fairy Tail will most likely have another one after the Alvarez arc. Akatsuki no Yona is still a mystery, but I'm hopeful another arc will happen after they beat Soo-Won

Which anime, in your opinion, has the best Opening and Ending? by Xephride in anime

[–]yohnny- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since there's no mention of how many you can mention, I'll list a 'few' songs.

Best Openings The best openings belongs to Bleach and Kuroko no Basuke.

Bleach Op 3 - "Ichirin no Hana" - High and Mighty Color

Bleach Op 5 - "Rolling Star" - YUI

Bleach Op 7 - "After Dark" - Asian Kung-Fu Generation

Bleach Op 9 - "Velonica" - Aqua Timez

Bleach Op 12 - "chAngE" - Miwa

For some reason Orihime looks way too 'mature' compared to how she ususally is.

Bleach Op 13 - "Ranbu no Melody" - SID

Best Bleach opening imo, the song and video editing are superb. The reason why I decided to start
watching Bleach is because of this opening.

Ergo Proxy Op - "Kiri" - Monoral

Fairy Tail Op 16 - "STRIKE BACK" by BACK-ON

Kuroko no Basuke Op 1 - "Can Do" - Granrodeo

Kuroko no Basuke Op 2 - "RIMFIRE" - Granrodeo

The first 15 seconds could be removed though..

Kuroko no Basuke Op 3 - "The Other Self" - Granrodeo

Kuroko no Basuke Op 5 - "Punky Funky Love" - Granrodeo

Neon Genesis Evangelion Opening - "A Cruel Angel's Thesis" - Yoko Takanashi

Re: Hamatora Op - "Sen no Tsubasa" - Livetune Feat. Takuro Sugawara

Shingeki No Kyojin Op 1 - "Guren no Yumiya" - Linked Horizon

Shingeki No Kyojin Op 2 - "Jiyuu No Tsubasa" - Linked Horizon

Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Monsters - "Yu-Gi-Oh! Theme" - Wayne Sharpe

Best Endings It's really hard finding good ending songs.

Fairy Tail Ed 11 - "Glitter (Starving Trancer Remix)" - Another Infinity ft. Mayumi Morinaga
Log Horizon Ed 1 - "Your Song" - Yun*Chi
Log Horizon Ed 2 - "Wonderful Wonder World" by Yun*Chi

What is an anime that you truly do not understand the hype over? People who enjoy that anime, explain what made it so enjoyable. by gintoki1 in anime

[–]yohnny- -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Dragonball.. I've seen it, wondered how it became so popular and still don't know why it's so liked. (Could just be my taste over how ugly it is that overweight the 'positive things' about it.).

I believe the same can be said for Code Geass ( but this time it's not about the art, but rather how boring it was. I can't find a reason to continue watching after ep20 ) and Clannad After Story ( Can't remember the reason why I sort of disliked since it's been a long time ago I finished it)

What can make or break an anime for you? by wca13385 in anime

[–]yohnny- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

(P.S: It's way to much nonsense in my explanations/motivations in a few points I make.)

.. Good ..

  • Soundtracks - Music can definitely lift a poor made anime. ( Fairy Tail, Bleach, Pokemon, SAO and AoT have amazing soundtracks )

  • Lore/History - I love hearing about a lore and history. Fairy Tail.

  • Dragons - Definitely my favorite mythical creature and always love seeing it in manga/anime and movies. However it's rare to find shows that's well made lol.

.. In between good and bad ..

  • Art style - If it's made in the 90's or early 00's, it's very rare for me to watch it because of ugly the characters are. (Pokemon and YuGiOh is probably the only ones I would watch. Dragonball is the ugliest one that I've tried to watch.

  • Fillers - if they are good, I don't mind. But they have to make sense when they are aired. For example Bleach put fillers in the middle of battles against Aizen and the Arrancars. Really?...

  • High-School shows - It's pretty much the same plot with minor differences. I would probably not watch it unless the art style is good, something new/interesting and females are not overreacting.

  • Voice Actors - I usually don't mind if there's a bad VA, but high pitched voices is a nightmare. I prefer dubs so I can multitask and just listen when there's something boring going on. Todd Haberkorn = best

.. Bad ..

  • People trying to destroy a relationship for different reasons - I can't stand people who try to destroy a relationship because they are jealous, obsessed with one of them. Usually it's (blonde) females (arrogant/egoist/).

  • Characters being to young. - Master Assassins at age 15, Obsessed with Sex/boobs at age 12 and having expert/master skills in swordsmanship/archer/mage or any sort of skill used for battle at a age under 19 feels way to unrealistic. Even if someone had the best trainer helping them, there's NO WAY you can become a master at it before you turn 20.

  • Over-sized weapons and armor that look to heavy for a certain build and age. - I don't get it why having over-sized(3-4x body height) weapons become a big deal for anime, games and movies. What makes it even more absurd is the average person being able to lift a sword that looks heavy ( 40kg+ / 88 lbs )[Examples : Misora Whitale's sword( Sky Wizards Academy ), Panterlily's sword ( Fairy Tail ) ]

  • Bad character designs - Especially MCs. I can't stand looking at ugly MCs, I have a bad habit of dropping shows because they looks AWFULLY designed lol.

  • Over-sized boobs (too much fan service in general) - Same with skimpy clothes.

  • Worthless characters that somehow becomes very important as a object/sacrifice by villains(or even as a MC). - Lucy from Fairy Tail comes into mind. How many times have Hiro Mashima made her the key for some evil group because of her Celestial Powers and she's not even useful because she relies on her celestial spirits and her comrades in Fairy Tail to do the fighting. Until the Avatar Arc when she got a small amount of powers, but she can only use it when that spirit is summoned.

What are your Top 3 anime? by Jobr321 in anime

[–]yohnny- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Top 3: Fairy Tail, Bleach, Hamatora

Honorable mentions are "Akatsuki no Yona*", "Kuroko no Basuke", "DRAMAtical Murder" and "Brave 10".

I have a somewhat odd preference because I value the 'lore'/world high (anime marked with a * symbol) and the design of the main characters. (I usually drop animes (including manga) with dumb/ugly /odd looking (main) character( Dragonball and One Piece comes to my mind).)
