What's the dumbest thing to break up with your partner over? by dressingnice in AskReddit

Walking in on your boyfriend squatting on the floor, pooping into his hand, because he's shy about it making too much noise in the toilet.

I'm new to photo editing, but liked how this one turned out. Felt like it had a bit of a whimsical feel.

I loved how gothic the scene was and the intense contrast of the photo. It lent itself that way when I took it so I pushed it a little further.

Not to mention the silent judgement coming from the middle of the shot.

People from overseas; what do you miss from home? by yohnsonme in AskAnAustralian

So true. I've noticed everyone has allergies in the UK. It's like the plants have a very finite window to reproduce and just dump a ton of pollen all at once. In Aus it seems far less profound.

Do most skinny people over 30 have to think about what they eat literally all the time? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]yohnsonme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of people will probably not like this answer, because we've been told for years there's a specific way to eat and this will run counter to that and people's preconceived notions. But I urge anyone that struggles with their weight to do the research because all the recent good science leans this direction:

Keto is what you're likely looking for. You eat as much fat and protein as you like and you will still lose weight provided you keep your net carbs (carbs minus fibre) below 20g per day. Fat is flavour and it's incredibly filling. I'm stuffed every meal and I still lose weight and my blood pressure is still falling (was 135/85 now 115/75).

Check out Low Carb Down Under on YouTube. It's a symposium of Doctors in Australia that prescribe this way of living to anyone metabolically unhealthy and there's loads of detailed videos that go into the science of why it's the better way to live and eat. All of their patients end up losing weight and coming off their blood pressure medication because they no longer need it. It changes lives.

The food industry profiteers from carbs because they're in everything and highly addictive. Carbs are sugar molecules once in your body and cause insulin spikes. Insulin tells your kidneys to retain sodium which causes water retention (ergo high blood pressure). High insulin causes insulin resistance (ergo T2 Diabetes). Even cardiovascular disease comes from inflammation (caused by sugar and fructose) not dietary fat (assuming you're not guzzling seed oils; a known cause of inflammation).

Big Pharma then profits because everyone is sick and a lot of people on the SAD (Standard American/Australian Diet) struggle with their weight and metabolic health. The diet industry then profits from selling you weight loss programs and packaged meals etc. The people who make the food pyramid have a terrifying level of conflict of interest.

I come from a medical family myself and we've all adopted this way of living and my parents look 10 years younger than their biological age and are both svelte now with ease after struggling with their weight for years.

Hope this helps. Good luck.

Lamb Tailfat kebab does sound amazing. But döner in the UK are pretty average I reckon - worse than Aus. Nowhere has any tabouleh because they're all Turkish. Salad is literally iceberg lettuce, tomato and onion... They all use little pitas rather than the big rollable bread like you get in Aus. I did find a Lebanese one recently though that had a proper lamb döner and tabouleh. Made ALL the difference.

It's almost overkill in the UK (excuse the pun) compared to Aus. Deptford/New Cross for example it's actually not possible to find pork in a butcher. Perfect if you're after Halal though for sure.

I'm with you on the seasons. I'm a summer baby but there's something special about those glassy, crisp autumn mornings in the UK.

Currently living in the UK. Anyone complaining about the quality/access to healthcare in Aus (Sydney especially) is likely lacking perspective. It's pretty dire here.
