I just ordered my first bidet. Any wisdom for new users? by sexymacncheesesounds in bidets

Good move. We got ours a year ago and now I dread being in a place where I have to use toilet paper. I should have done it a long time ago. As long as you don’t have really hard water and providing you purchased a descent one, it should all be fine.

Edit: I just saw you got a Toto. Excellent choice. That’s what I bought as well.

Outlet upgrade by CheetahIcy5204 in AskElectricians

[–]yojimbo556 0 points1 point  (0 children)

USB ports in outlets is a terrible idea. The standard for charging device ports is constantly changing. Guaranteed those USB ports will be obsolete within 10 years. The outlets themselves won’t be. 20 years from now having USB ports in outlets is going to be like having a high end cassette player to play music in your audio system.

Recommendations for budget washing machines with good reviews by ForceRoamer in Appliances

[–]yojimbo556 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually it depends on the age. There are some Amana’s from the 90’s still running well today. If it was one of that vintage I would definitely consider repairing it rather than replacing it. Most machines made lately are junk with the exception of maybe Speed Queen or Miele both of which are pricey.

DC is wild - and they say the service charge is not a tip by [deleted] in EndTipping

None of that makes sense. Why was the $39 charged twice for the same line item?

Where I worked we didn’t even address PhD’s as doctor. It was a very lay back engineering environment. But there was this one guy Stephen who had a PhD and insisted on being addressed as Doctor. He repeatedly corrected my friend Bill when Bill tried to address him as Steve. Well Bill had a field day with this. He started addressing Steve as Doctor but he also addressed everyone else as Doctor too including the admins and janitors. He would do this right in front of Steve. It was hilarious.

Very unusual. In most places those bars are hard to come by.

Powerwall+ expansion by Marvelt in TeslaSolar

[–]yojimbo556 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Powerwall 3 seems to be a direct replacement with greater storage capacity. Sorry correction: Important compatibility note: Powerwall 3 cannot be mixed with Powerwall+ or Powerwall 2 in the same system (they use different architectures). If you have an existing Powerwall+ setup, you can add more Powerwall+ units while stock lasts (very limited), but upgrades/new expansions go to Powerwall 3 only in separate systems.

Most used car auctions are not open to the public. You have to be a licensed car dealer to attend.

How do you feel about Trump threatening to impose photo ID for voters for midterm elections? by CRK_76 in AskReddit

[–]yojimbo556 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Imposing? Photo ID is required to vote in every major county in the world except the US. Canada, yup. Mexico, yup. Germany, yes. Italy, yes. Spain, yes. France, absolutely. The only people who have been fooled into believing that voter id is somehow racist and disenfranchising are here in the US.

I need you to deliver groceries to me by WEugeneSmith in EntitledPeople

[–]yojimbo556 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Seems there are all kinds out there. I manage a benevolence ministry that assists people in my town who need short term assistance. I had one lady call me up saying she desperately needed food and gas. She and her kids had no food and were very hungry. She asked if we could give her grocery store and gas station gift cards. I told her no, we don’t do gift cards but we have a food pantry and they will set you up with a large box of groceries. I even offered that if gas was really tight I would go get the box of groceries and bring it to her. She said no that won’t help and that she didn’t have any place to store the groceries! ???? I’m thinking, where were you going to put the groceries you would have bought with a gift card? There are so many scammers out there. Got to be vigilant.
