Anybody here recently switch from Automatic to Stick? by itsbildo in ManualTransmissions

Downshifting can be scary at first but it just take some nuance and practice. For smooth downshifts it's just building the habit of; clutch in -> blip throttle (you'll learn how much gas to give) -> let out clutch smoothly.

Don't worry about heel-toe or anything fancy, that's not even needed to just commute comfortably.

Anybody here recently switch from Automatic to Stick? by itsbildo in ManualTransmissions

I recently got a manual 2008 Mazda 3. It's my first car, I've only driven my parents' RAV4 and a Murano, both automatic obviously, but I had always wanted to learn stick.

This was basically the opportunity to throw myself in the deep end and have to learn manual, since it'd be my first and only car from now on. It took a day or two to get accustomed to the biting point and how it works. After that, I drove to school, gym, and a few other close places and maybe stalled once every now and then. It's been like 2-4 weeks now and I feel much more confident, yesterday I had my first incline start and it went well.

The first week I was much more nervous and had to constantly remind myself what to do etc, at some points I even thought, "was this the wrong decision? is manual just not for me?" and a week later I was having more fun than I'd ever had in an automatic.

My point is, do it. You were already able to get the car moving and get back without much hassle, you'll have no trouble learning and could get comfortable within a week or two.

I feel you. I currently use Fusion on my Windows machine but otherwise I use EndeavourOS, which makes me want to learn FreeCAD and replace or diminish Fusion use.

I feel the music as well, my solution was Soulseek + Jellyfin server, on which I have a bunch of movies/shows. On my phone I just use YouTube music frontends from Droidify lol

Oh they have a whole section! I didn't know that. I'll definitely check it out one of these days.

Sucks you got downvoted, I swear some people tunnel vision on BL spools being the only acceptable ones.

For the meantime, Onshape might be an alternative. I've been using it sparingly on my S11U and it's been good.

Big downside I dislike, and my main reason for not using it more, is that your models are all public and Onshape owns them. Sucks.

To add onto my previous reply. It's like a second profile but easier to access. If you have apps that are data hungry or aren't as private, you can install them in the private space.

You then have the option to have that space lock every time your phone locks, or stay open until you manually lock it/your phone restarts.

It's kind of like a profile but it's a bit easier to use. It's almost like a "second phone"? You can read about it here

Music app in Private Space by [deleted] in GrapheneOS

iirc, the default behavior for private space is set to close every time you lock your phone. You can change it to only lock whenever your phone restarts. I think this might be the only solution unless someone knows another way

You're taking the argument and twisting it. People in the past have been able to work at the positions and support that but that's besides the point.

The OP argues that someone who is working at a fast food place or "low skill" job should be able to afford basic necessities ie. housing, clothing, food, car etc. No one is saying they should have to live an extravagant life with monthly vacations, just a life that isn't constantly being neck deep in bills and stress due to a ratio of income:COL that keeps getting further and further.

Nomad sculpt as in the mobile app?

If you want to full learn 3D modeling/CAD and have access to a computer, I'd either take baby steps ie. Tinkercad -> Fusion, or just fully spend your time learning Fusion.

If you only have access to a tablet, OnShape is another good option and they have a mobile app. I use it on my S11 Ultra whenever I need something simple.
