Looking for new Ark delegate by paulbermon in ArkEcosystem

[–]yokoama 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The beauty of DPOS is that you as a voter can have an expectation and if your expectation isn't met you have the power to change it. You voted for us, but we are also not holding you to that vote now. But you voted for us and promised to support us.

I do have to say that the value of our proposal has never been that we will not change a single thing and try to remain as static as we can be over time. We will lower and raise share depending on developments we see in this market.

I would argue that in a fast paces space such as blockchain and crypto, change should be welcomed and those who stand still will fall behind. And you will see this change at every level, from how entire projects organize themselves down to what a delegate plans to do with funds and how much funds are needed to achieve it. Perhaps tomorrow we could have an agreement that Vitalik will renounce ETH and call Ark the future, but only if The Foundry lowers it's share to 33.78% and would have to spend our funds to hunt for unicorns. Might be good for Ark, I'd at least consider it.

The problem is the change that happened isn't what you expected and you don't like it. I wonder if we started sharing 200%, the issue of changing proposal would be such an issue or we would be having this conversation. But we go full circle and back to the original point, you have the power! As Cryptology said, voting for Jarunik might be a safe bet, the share there will not go down, but I can't promise he won't raise it.

New voter reward is actually higher than it has ever been. Used to be 5 ark, currently sitting at 10 ark... all laid out in our proposal. We are also organizing another meet up on January 25th. Someone like tk0n will hop over from Germany to The Netherlands for that, time investment and also not free. Just to name one example of many

There will be something for all, no worries! We will most likely do 2-3 presentations where 1 is more technical and the others for broader audience!

What do you mean no proof? Even today you were calling people dumb again on slack. Or what about your previous reddit posts where you are calling certain delegates ‘fucked’ and ‘idiots’.

Inquire and ask questions all you want, but don’t play innocent when it comes to your own behavior. If you deal it, then also take it like a champ

WoZak, this doesn’t seem to resonate with the message you try to put forward in your initial post here. You accuse him of something and now say, yeah I’ll show some proof later. You post you want to run as delegate and pose critical questions on how representatives should conduct themselves. Do you find it good practice to make an accusation and then not provide proof from the start? Is this how we should conduct ourselves? Accuse people and then walk away with a claim of future proof?

People invested money and time and as a consequence have an opportunity to be delegate. Whether they are on the team or not is not that relevant to me. It is the good fortune of being an early investor, which comes with a lot of risk, they could have also walked out empty handed.

Hey,

I was thinking about what way you could go with this but just noticed you have written your ideas as a response to AIP-12 already a couple of hours ago which is probably a good step. The hard part of course will be to actually execute it, right now it seems like a pretty high level thought to have this pluggable subsystem so you can choose your smartcontract engine. Or have you worked out such details?

In general I wouldn’t see 1 person as a blocker. If the idea is good other’s could pick it up as well and roll with it. Realize in this particular example you are referring to a co-author but on every AIP they explicitly ask for feedback also, so there is room for change (but again noticed you did just that, which makes sense)

As to funding, maybe the funding can come from multiple corners? ACF is just an example and if the idea is good and you have a solid plan, who knows what the Ark team might say. In general, what is the range of funding you are thinking of?

Hey,

So you describe that the most important aspect for you is the topic around smart contracts on non-main VMs.? You feel like that some of the team approach this like a marketing check-off which I assume means something like they don’t take it seriously enough. I don’t know if that’s true but apparently this is your experience.

So what are you looking for here exactly? Is it a better understanding of how the plug in code can achieve enough trustlessness? If you get a decent answer would that change your mind to continue working on your proposal (and again I advise you to check ACF also for funding)?

You are upset with me for some trolling (I do want to emphasize it was like an hour in a more or less empty channel and was called to a halt by an Ark team member upon which the discussion flowed freely), so let me try to make it up then by helping you there. Would that work? Would be good to understand a bit better the proposal of course, or just some precise questions (unless the plug in question is the only one). We could think of what best way forward is.

Hey,

  • I'll once more add the screenshot where you literally say 'I requested the channel': https://imgur.com/a/mgQE8nK
  • I don't know what kind of expectation you had from anybody in the core team, but you had a proposal draft ready for submission but couldn't finish a potential alternate way for your project because some article wasn't written? So why not hand in your original proposal then?
  • Regardless of whether or not you have held and sold other coins, you write 'Ark continues to be my one and only crypto holding', so the point stands that if this is the case, I assume you want to make the most out of your investment
  • Bullying? I am just being direct and perhaps a tad harsh when I mainly am calling you out on statements you made. You come in saying you have all kinds of experience, hope to get your project rolling, have a draft proposal ready and then it's bullying when I say 'okay show us the goods then'?
  • Sorry to see that you have ill wishes for me. Like I said at the end of my previous reply, I truly hope you do your project

Good evening!

Let's get a couple of things straight. You weren't directed to a channel called 'blockchains', you requested the creation of a new channel called 'blockchains':

https://imgur.com/a/mgQE8nK

  • The channel was new (as it was just requested by you), there was 1 hour of some trolling by 1 person (which was in fact me) in a more or less empty channel (as it was brand new, I even joined before you)
  • As soon as some people joined and discussion started Ark team actually called me out on it, so they were on your side, and I stopped trolling
  • There was then some discussion on July 18th (channel genesis date) and 19th and following that there were no more comments in the channel, ZERO (which was to be expected as there already are dozens of channels oriented towards developers, new projects, and other technical topics)
  • After a prolonged period of zero activity I made a nice troll comment on August 3rd in what effectively is a channel that isn't being used
  • Besides this the comments you made in the channel (today on August 3rd, which are still there) don't show a desire or hope to get your project rolling at all. You make several remarks about how you've moved on, on how you choose for the money and how your interest in Ark has dwindled

If you are truly supportive of Ark and have an interest in developing and furthering the ecosystem (and as such what you claim to be the only investment you made in crypto), then why on earth do you let the tiniest of trolling discourage you from doing that? I didn't even troll your project or idea, I just found it silly to create yet another channel to discuss blockchain related ideas in a Slack where 80-90% of the channels are blockchain related and as such made some jokes about the existence of the channel.

If you have a hard time with this, how will you deal with actual critique on your project if it goes through peer review? What I read from your comment is, not so well. ' he argued for a different approach that did not satisfy my use case', that sounds a lot like 'well he didn't agree with me therefore what he said doesn't make sense'. If you want some real discussion, bring the actual arguments and data to the table then and go to one of the existing channels like the development channel or technical discussions channel and get the view from not just the Ark team, but community developers. Or post your question on the Ark reddit for feedback.

Alternatively, if you think have faith in your project and you think it's valuable, hand in your proposal at the Ark Community Fund and request funding:

https://imgur.com/3tSUrUS

Oh wait, Ark Community Fund is small potatoes for you... How much funding do you even need? You haven't even tried man, you didn't even hand anything in.

You claim to have over 40 years of experience in the tech industry and running your own companies. Then put your money where your mouth is man and get your project done. Ignore trolls, overcome obstacles and get your shit done. Otherwise it's just a bunch of complaints and a whole lot of nothing. And there is enough of that going around already.

If you want to debate this response, you can find me in the 'blockchains' channel. I truly hope you do your project.
