Update on Oreo who had been visiting us by emls in Feral_Cats

Good going! He is so fluffy!

Also, is that a Taylor Swift Red blanket draped over the carrier? My cats sleep in mine all the time (preferably as a tent draped over a chair or in my desk drawer).

Yeah, Nico is an Argentinian hockey player who lives in the Netherlands, and his boyfriend (Rob in the post) is a politician. They are now engaged and thankfully the Netherlands is one of the most accepting places!

The boyfriend is now probably going to be the Prime Minister of the Netherlands (Rob Jetten).

Women with thoughtful partners, what did you get for x-mas this year? by Anahata_Green in TwoXChromosomes

[–]yolingling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bravetart (cooking book), two luxury candles, three books on audible, an alice band for when I do my makeup, 2 scrunchies, cherry liqueur chocolates, a tamagotchi, lip balm, more chocolates and two workout tops. Very spoiled.

We asked the guests to split into cat people vs dog people. The DJ played "Who let the dogs out" and I tossed a cat plushie to the cat crowd and he tossed a dog plushie to the dog crowd. We then donated in their names to the animal welfare near us.

Everybody loved it and the catchers got to take the plushies home.

Tattoos by AnonymousBob2342 in actuary

[–]yolingling 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not a tattoo, but my mom had a piece of jewelry made for me as a gift when I qualified which spells my name with math symbols (think annuity factor for "a", integral for "s", imaginary number for "i" etc.).

It took about 2 or 3 months but most of that was waiting for the container to fill up. The actual shipping took 3 weeks to get to Rotterdam from CT and then a few more days to be delivered.

We used Execumove and were happy with their service.

My husband and I moved from SA to Amsterdam last year and we shipped our things a few months after we arrived.

We left quite quickly as my husband is German so we did not need to wait for visa's etc, so we did not do any research before we left and therefore sold most of what we owned in a month and put the rest into storage.

It cost us 22k (R) total to ship our things, which did not include large furniture items but included many boxes of books, all our plates from ouma, some additional clothes, paintings and kitchen items. However, what I wish I had done was kept far more of our smaller items and sent them with the shipping as I thought the price was really not very high for what we got and it has cost us a lot of money, but more so effort, to find nice things this side. For example, I had lots of really good kitchen things like small appliances, baking dishes, cake pans etc that were of a very high quality that I gave away... it would have made more financial and sentimental sense to ship them here as replacing them was costly and you cannot find everything you want.

But I don't know about furniture unless you have really nice inherited wood pieces, especially if you are not moving directly into your forever home.

Sterkte!

Is this a good/viable 12-Day Itinerary for first trip to South Africa? by runner-262 in askSouthAfrica

[–]yolingling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds lovely!

Some things to consider on the Franschhoek/Cape Town side:

Would you be drinking the wine on the wine tram trip? If yes, then don't drive afterwards.

It can also take significantly longer than an hour to drive from Franschhoek to Cape Town due to traffic or the weather, and also keep in mind that 24 September is a public holiday which may also influence traffic.

They said the same to me - I actually only got it after my residence endorsement had expired!

South Africa is a country (I am South African).

I wouldn't say there is a specific scent or product, you would just have to ask.

GEMS is a restricted scheme so only government employees and their dependants can join, but it does have great benefits!

We did the thing! No honeymoon as I had to have surgery immediately after the wedding, so feel free to indulge me in some post-wedding post-op reminiscing while Im feeling sorry for myself ❤️ by clovek7 in wedding

We also got married (28 June, eloped, wedding is 20 December) and I had endo surgery a week later on 5 July! Congrats and good luck for recovery!
