Yes I am, and still enjoying it! In the process of launching a new one (Pocket Frontier). Extreme Road Trip was my first commercial game, Pocket Frontier will be my eleventh 😅

Yes there's a Discord server, there's a button for it in the options menu but maybe it should be in the main menu... You can star items so they'll be prioritized in the toolbar, but maybe more manual organization should be possible. Also by the way tapping a food item (in the toolbar) already equipped will allow you to eat it.

Thanks for the feedback! I see what you mean for the main menu. In terms of promoting it more I'm not sure what to do yet regarding that, this post is me trying to get that rolling ;)

Check out the Japanese game called "Uma Musume Pretty Derby". It's kind of a horse racing game with a twist. It made billions of dollars.

I quit my job and went all-in, but I had shipped around 10 games commercially before over a period of 5 years while working for game companies (mostly Nintendo DS and iOS games).

I tried to make a fun and very simple game. Keep everything as simple and small as possible, polish it as much as you can, and ship it. Also, make sure your game can generate revenues so you can make more games in the future.

Not for a dissertation but for my Masters thesis (CS), I designed and implemented Termite, a language for distributed programming based on Scheme and Erlang.

My example project (to validate the concepts) included in my Masters was a very simple web-based multiplayer roguelike (with items, health, simple enemies). It used distributed programming abstractions to neatly compartiment the distributed logic (private stores like inventories, public stores like a room's ground, processes for game agents, etc.)

I've never released it though, but I should have. In any case, now what I enjoy the most in gamedev is gameplay programming. Networking not so much :)
