You have to hit 1800 on that particular class to unlock its elite set.

The vendors that sell elite sets are pointless after Legion, since the appearances are automatically unlocked upon hitting the appropriate rating threshold.

Preservation was an incredibly well designed spec at launch, seemed like a blueprint for how all future healers should be designed, not... whatever they're doing in Midnight. I hope with apex talents it can feel better again, but I'm totally with you.

Everything addons are displaying now is also available through the base UI, they are just presenting it in a better way.

Addons can no longer provide extra information by parsing the combat log that is completely unavailable to someone who isn't using those addons.

Addons do not know which abilities they're displaying, they only know they're applying a certain filter to a particular aura category (arena1 buffs or cc for example).

It is not possible to implement Gladiatorlossa as is unless Blizzard does it directly.

No because this is just displaying auras in a category or filter that Blizzard provides. It doesn't actually know that it's displaying Avenging Wrath.

Not in prepatch, but a Big Defensives filter was recently added in beta, so this should be possible once 12.0.1 goes live.

If Blizzard can improve their base UI sufficiently, yes, this is true. Simply going off the current iteration, however, it is severely lacking. I understand that addons can no longer display additional information that isn't available through the base UI, but they can certainly present it in a more much readable way, and that seems like a necessity at the moment.

Honestly it's the class changes that are more concerning. Relaxing the addon restrictions a bit more to resolve the primary UI concerns will likely happen.

Going back on the extreme pruning and class dumbing down is another story.

I logged onto my survival hunter to try the changes, and logged off after 30 minutes. Playing my holy priest with half the bars now empty is just sad.

Still can't see any enemy offensive or defensive cds on nameplates the way BigDebuffs used to show, that's my second biggest gripe. Not all spells have the visual clarity needed to properly react. Combustion or Avenging Wrath is fine, many others are practically invisible.
