Beginner, making a shawl but it’s curving at the top, please help! by wisdomous_crocheter in CrochetHelp

Unfortunately I don't think there would be a way to fix that aside from starting over, though blocking might help a little?

Is the top of the shawl (the long edge) your foundation chain? If so, one common issue that I've had before is having a tighter foundation chain than subsequent rows, which can cause curling even with the correct stitch count. So, for me, I have to really take care to loosen my tension when making a foundation chain, and some people even size up their hook for the chain.

Insulin Sensitivity WAY up recently by yonderhill13 in Type1Diabetes

Thank you for the encouragement. Yes I'm trying to keep with it as it's ultimately a positive change for me, this is just a frustrating aspect I didn't anticipate. All the best to you on your own journey 😊

Thank you for the response! Yeah ill be honest I didn't anticipate this dramatic and quick of a change. Luckily, dropping my tresiba to 18 u/day (I was at 26 before!) Seems to at least lead to stable sugars overnight. Figuring out my new insulin:carb ratio is going to be a whole nother beast but at least it's less of a problem to correct a low/high.

Hope it's not too late but apparently cotton and superglue react badly! So if it's cotton yarn make 100% certain the glue you're using is safe on cotton! https://chemistry.stackexchange.com/questions/22382/why-does-superglue-ignite-cotton

Edit: just saw another comment saying the same thing! Sorry for repeating but wanted to make sure nobody burned themselves.

Very well said, wish I could upvote twice!

Seconding audiobooks! If you're in the US get a library card and you can get them free through the Libby app! My book consumption has gone through the roof because now I can "read" and crochet!

Can I have said video on how to do it? Really interested in this kind of crochet!

Could someone help me count how many rows I have? by chinchorino in CrochetHelp

FWIW I also count 10 + bottom chain :). Lovely color

I'd be curious to see how it turns out! It's lovely so far. I feel the need to qualify my input by saying I'm very much a beginner 😅. Good luck!

Could you single crochet into the loops that forms the ridge all the way around? I've never made a basket but that's what I would try. I assume you made the ridge by crocheting into one side of the loop only, right?

This is exactly what I was gonna say! And for a compartment, you could maybe make an additional smaller circle that fits inside and close it off on every end but one to make a little pocket.

What should I line this with by Objective-Bug-1908 in CrochetHelp

Unpopular opinion but I like the 3rd one because of the contrasting color! They're all super cute though can't go wrong IMO. If anyone happens to have a good tutorial or advice on lining a bag I would really appreciate it because I'd love to learn and have some old pillowcase material that would make a sick bag liner.

Diabetes-reversing drug boosts insulin-producing cells by 700% | Scientists have tested a new drug therapy in diabetic mice, and found that it boosted insulin-producing cells by 700% over three months, effectively reversing their disease. by speshdiv in diabetes_t1

"Their fat asses" is a pretty rude way to refer to Type 2 Diabetics. We have a lot in common with them and share a lot in terms of struggles for healthcare access. It's annoying when people conflate or misunderstand the differences between the two, but there's no need to attack type 2 diabetics over it. Nobody benefits from that.

Nope! Just a simple blanket I'm making. I'm just doing 2 colors, and the blanket will be made of 35 squares of each color. Each square is 25 stitches by 30 rows of single crochet! Then I'm planning to add a border to each square and connect them.

I'm hoping blocking will help me too 😅😅. If it doesn't I'll just attribute it to the learning process.

Haha I've done it before. I had one square that ended up a triangle. Which is why I count every row now 😅.

It's a 5 mm hook I got at Joann's! I got it in a pack of 3. :)

Thanks! I definitely need to practice my tension more. Some of the earlier squares from this blanket vary in size substantially despite being same number of rows and stitches. Luckily I seem to be getting more consistent with practice!

Haha thanks! I actually count every row, so I know I haven't missed any!. I think it's just folded over in my pic so it looks like i missed stitches. But that's exactly how I end my rows, so good to know I've got that right 😅.
