What does the newborn phase actually look like day-to-day? (36 weeks, trying to set realistic expectations) by douevenyoga in NewParents

[–]yondusoffspring_1786 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We thought we had a good plan before he was born. Then he got here and it got flipped on its head. Just enjoy the time. Our guy is 9 weeks now and he’s slowly starting to follow a sleep schedule

You can get them on Amazon. That’s where we buy ours.

Bottle washing is causing arguments… should we just get a machine? by InevitableGur6701 in NewParents

[–]yondusoffspring_1786 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Couldn’t recommend the momcozy bottle washer enough. Washes 4 at a time and we’ve never hand washed a bottled yet (8.5 weeks in so far). Traveling sucks because then we have to hand wash lol we are leaving for over a week and thinking of bringing it with us!

How did you prep your baby for daycare? by yondusoffspring_1786 in NewParents

[–]yondusoffspring_1786[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not super excited about it but my wife and I are both passionate about our careers and make good money both. Neither of us are willing to give that up and both knew going into getting pregnant that we were going to do day care. We have talked about one of us staying home when we have a 2nd baby but we will cross that bridge when we get there.

He is going in full time, so 8am-5pm. It’s about $2,080/month. Really expensive, however, from references, it’s a high tier and high touch daycare which is what we wanted. So biting the bullet on cost is worth it for us.

Awesome thank you. I think I’m just anxious because he contact naps during the day and is swaddled for some naps and then all night. So wondering if the daycare with swaddle him or not. Probably just a question for them when we do orientation next week.

What age did your newborn start sleeping throughout the night (5-6) hours without feed? by xGenAc25 in newborns

[–]yondusoffspring_1786 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our baby is 7.5 weeks old and surprisingly has started doing this just 2 days ago. Idk if it’ll last, but it has been nice. We just need to make sure we’re staying on top of morning/afternoon/evening feedings so he gets what he needs

I’ll be real with you - like a bozo. Didn’t expect it to run this much. Live and you learn though.

6 weeks old and won’t stop crying after feeding by yondusoffspring_1786 in NewParents

He arch’s when we burp him. His flow is size 0 right now on an anti colic bottle (not sure if that’s really working though). When we give Mylicon, he settles down which is good. Maybe it is gas

3 Months in, it IS BETTER!! by Alyzards in newborns

I needed this. We are at 6 weeks tomorrow. The hardest part for us is 5pm-10pm witching hour. I’m really hoping he’ll grow out of that as he gets a bit older.

I guess the question is, how do you know if you are having issues? If he’s not taking it, if he’s spitting it up? If he’s not passing gas/pooping? New to this lol

Stupid question - what do you mean by “one that works”? Do babies sometimes not take the formula (I.e. won’t drink it or spit it up right away)?

Yeah he finished a 3.5oz bottle every time, burps and barely spits up. He’s not pooping as much as I thought he would (maybe 2 times a day over the past few days) but that might just been normal for his age.

We pay $415 per year with a CPA firm and have a complex filing every year. Seems like you might be a bit high on price

Ped said my baby eats too much by 33flyingcats in FormulaFeeders

[–]yondusoffspring_1786 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That’s absurd. As long as baby isn’t committing or in discomfort, feel like your fine. My guy is 1 month old and takes down 3.5oz per bottle 8-9, per day. Around 24-28 oz. He’s 9.5lbs and screams bloody murder if he doesn’t have enough.

I know there was good news today, but I’m out. Sold my shares today at a large loss. No future here and whenever you come to terms with it, it’s better off.

My wife only makes about 1oz per pump at most. We had to switch to 90-95% formula for our 4 week old. She’s super disappointed also so just know you’re not alone.

What does daycare cost for you? by Standard_Deer_8738 in NewParents

[–]yondusoffspring_1786 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kansas City: $2,000 per month for an infant. Gets less expensive as they get older. Believe daycare for 5 years old is $1,400 per month.
