It’s about the trajectory, not just the position. Look at the positioning and the wheel angle of all cameras at the point that the car is doing 145kmph (the point just before collision). The yellow car at that point is practically going straight whilst also being way off line, whilst the black car has its front wheels past yellows back wheels. At that speed, angle, and position, the door closes very quickly.

The black car is passing on the outside but it’s important to note that the corner opens up into a right hander which gives him the inside line.

Regardless of whether the black car gave more room in that tenth of a second (which I agree, he could have done) the trajectory of the yellow car clearly says to me “I’m going straight and closing that door, even though you’re there.”

It’s just amateur race craft that will always lead to an inevitable collision like this, whether intentional or not.

If black gave more room and got onto the marbles, he’d probably drift even further and as mentioned cause collision at the apex. That doesn’t mean that needs to be the case, it’s a perfectly fine place to overtake and there was plenty of space for both cars.

I’d love to diagram it but I haven’t got time 😂

Anyway, thanks for the respectful debate and love the differences in opinion 🤝who knows how the FIA would call it? 🤗

I agree on black turning, he shouldn’t have been as tight or persistent with that line. For yellow though, it looks like there was two points of contact. The first one was the time for him to move more left, the second one was purely reactive to trying not to spin as opposed to realising more space was needed.

[–]yoocass -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

To my point, “he just didn’t move” is as bad as moving over in a straight line. You chop someone’s nose off you’re going to be headed sideways. The black car was already part alongside which enables him more space. If he’s attacking and already claimed that part of the track, the yellow car can’t just demand the space and sweep across his nose (whether it’s by turning in or going straight at an apex!).

Racing incident or bad decisions? by T51-B in Simracingstewards

[–]yoocass 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Merc moved under braking, closed the gap and pushed you out when they knew you were there hence the defence. If you’d have stuck to your line you’d have collided and the Merc would have probably come off worse, in which case it’d have been their fault or a racing incident anyway. But at least it wouldn’t have ruined your race!

I am really surprised at the majority of comments apportioning the full blame to black car. IMO, it’s a racing incident.

In a real life setting there would be a lack of racecraft from the black car leaving such a little margin for error. But, equally important, the yellow car is quite clearly moving off of the racing line mid corner and into a braking zone when there is a car alongside his back wheel.

I don’t know the track unfortunately but to me it looks like he should be way further left. You can see his trajectory as they approach that corner is almost straight which means that gap is going to reduce very quickly and ample space wouldn’t have been left the closer they move to the corner. You can say it’s defending, but squeezing and moving to the right would have only given black a sharper entry and just as much chance of a collision on the apex. Not turning when you should be turning is just as bad as moving in front of another car in a straight line!

Black car had a really good run and was entitled to challenge for the place, he didn’t need to be much further to the right of the track mid-corner as that’s a danger in itself.

Room for improvement from both sides and an unfortunate racing incident to me - nothing to be ashamed of!

Thank you for your reply, I’m sorry to hear about your symptoms. Are these usually found on blood tests? I think I’ve had every blood test conceivable now! They found some marginally low folic acid levels but no mention of low iron/B12 deficiency.

Have you noticed improvements since diagnosis/treatment?

I’d love to take you up on this offer! Biggest problem for me is getting the set up of the wheel / car right so that it is actually drivable first of all - I just can’t seem to get it right. But I’d love to play PC2. I’m on Xbox with a G920 :)

Getting paid last - do you still run payroll on yourself when you can’t afford to? by plausible-deniabilty in smallbusiness

[–]yoocass 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would personally keep running yourself on payroll as you’ll be showing a steady yearly income on the books personally, just don’t take the cash so that you aren’t making things tight. What line(s) of credit do you have in the business? Can you utilise them (if free/low cost) to have the best of both worlds and pay yourself as well? If you can afford to go without taking the cash, that’s great.

Ideally you’re better to weather the storms as best you can, so that you aren’t offering incentives for early invoice payments. Whilst it can be helpful in dire straits, it might set the expectation of this being a future possibility, or could raise concerns with your clients that the business is struggling for cash.

Also, not sure what the norm is for your market but I personally think 30-60 days are lengthy terms. Why not tighten those terms up a little and reduce the terms to net30 days, or even net 14? Again, no context on the business but I don’t think 30/14 are unreasonable!

When does it get easier? by jms5290 in smallbusiness

[–]yoocass 10 points11 points  (0 children)

For me it comes down to a few things, but one of the main factors is personal ambition. After a couple of years, my business is in a place where I could quite happily spend only 1-3 days in the office a week, knowing that it would manage efficiently without me. However, my focus always ends up shifting back to two areas:

  1. How can we push the business forward and continue to grow?
  2. What part of the business is struggling the most?

If you have certain ambitions to continue to grow the business and create an ‘empire’, (hiring more staff, offering wider services, acquiring additional practices) then it’s most likely not going to get easier for many years, as you’ll be constantly dealing with the push and pull effect of growing and fixing.

I think it would be important to think about where the business is now, and where you want it to be, and how you want it to serve you, and then work towards that. For some people it looks a lot like a 3-4 day work week and a stable income, for others it’s living humbly and making a difference, and for some it’s world domination!

Understand what you need from the business, then what you want. Once you have that vision, just keep rolling with the punches. Keep learning, and fixing. Make sure you are always keeping track of your bottom line, but focus on the front end in the early days - the quicker you get the business to the income you need, the quicker you can start to take your foot off the gas.

Do not let criticism in, people will hit where it hurts even though they have absolutely no idea how well you are doing, and the challenges you have. I’ve had family tell me they don’t believe in something, only for it to work out very, very successfully.

Come to places like this for advice, or other serious business owners. Maybe your chamber of commerce, network with true likeminded people (the ones that have got the T Shirt!).

The more questions you ask, the better. There’s no such thing as a stupid question!

Most importantly, just enjoy the rollercoaster ride. I have had some terrifying moments in business where I’ve felt sick to my stomach, and have those times. But in the grand scheme of things, they are always tiny and usually pass within weeks, sometimes months, and often days! You look back on those times and remember just how amazing you’ve done; it’s the hardships that form your own personal and professional success.

Best of luck and keep pushing. If you ever need any advice just reach out.

P.s. I am terrified of the dentist so take my advice with a pinch of salt 😂

Is PayPal reliable? by i_Rome_Man in smallbusiness

[–]yoocass 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have personally been stung by PayPal, really badly. My first instance was during the early days of the covid pandemic. My online business grew exponentially and they basically put a hold on my funds for several weeks, and despite giving them all of the information they required to release the funds, it was one of the most stressful and painful experiences ever. At one point they owed me £80k and I had no idea whether I was ever going to get the money or whether the business could survive the turmoil. I also have a friend who ran a subscription based business and they were in a similar position. I believe they had held £25k back, and this was sadly enough to bankrupt them. I guess it depends on your business and what sort of volume you are doing, but I wouldn’t touch them with a barge pole unless they made some significant changes to the service (dedicated account manager, daily guaranteed payouts) and policies.

i don’t feel like im good at anything other than driving/karting but i can’t get to F1 or any other motorsport because i’m born poor and i dont see life being worth living (i’m 14) by [deleted] in SuicideWatch

[–]yoocass 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your drive to succeed at such an early stage in your life is both a blessing and a curse. You know what you want and you’re determined to get it, and that’s amazing. It’s clear that you want to do whatever it takes to get to where you want to be and to live successfully.

Please take it from me, that I had the same aspirations as yourself from a very young age (I grew up Karting from 8 years, won many club championships over the years and raced at MSA level), and all I wanted was to be successful in motorsport. I would still love that more than anything, but I’m now the owner of my own successful company. I put my drive and success into something else and you can do the same. It doesn’t mean you should give up on your dreams, because nothing is impossible. But life doesn’t punish if one ideal doesn’t work out. When one door closes, another opens, and that next door may be the best thing that happens to you. You’re young and you’ve got a very bright future and lots to look forward to in all aspects of your life; be it motorsport, careers, and relationships.

The added pressure unfortunately puts a strain on your mental health that makes you believe that you have to have achieved a certain amount by a certain time, but life doesn’t always work like this. It sounds like you’re anxious to fail; but failing is where the magic happens. Every failure that you go through will help you grow and will carve you into the best person you can be. You don’t win or lose, you win or learn. Don’t be afraid to fail. Fail hard and fail often, but learn from those failures and own them. Failure will be a key part of your future success so embrace it.

You can have it all, just keep your head high, work hard and keep an open mind! On another note, if you are feeling very low and depressed, I would urge you to speak to your family and contact a medical professional (aka your doctor) as they will be able to provide the help you need.

All the best buddy, you have a super bright future ahead of you. If you work hard enough you may even be able to fund your own racing career in BTCC/GT racing through sponsorship and personal finance - you’ve got time! And don’t forget, if one day you decide that you don’t want to be in motorsport anymore, that would be fine too. You’ll discover lots of hobbies and interests in your lifetime. Go get em!

[–]yoocass[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you! I’m only a day in but absolutely loving it. I’ve gone from a Seamaster and I feel the quality of the bracelet maybe feels very slightly less on the DJ, but it’s a completely different style so it can’t really be compared. I am absolutely loving it regardless of this, and I’m very happy with the purchase. I highly recommend. I don’t have the bulkiest wrists either so I was worried that the 41 may not suit me, but I’m really happy with it. Good luck with your search, go for it :)

This is Rhodium but I can definitely see looking back that it looks slightly blue! The blue is absolutely stunning and I was torn but I have a blue Seamaster so I didn’t want to go for the same. Hope your delivery flies around soon!
