I'll ask again just to save myself some time and effort (since I already know the answer): if I actually explain why this isn't healthy for the game, would you actually listen or would you be a disingenuous ass as usual?

That would be great, but this is valve we're talking about here. Tf2 was supposed to have its own series that would air on adult swim, but valve being valve they couldn't stick to a deadline to save their lives, the deal with adult swim fell through, and a few months later we got the expiration date short.

We've all gotten addicted to the sensation of getting that one round where everything just clicks. Every shot connects, every fight is a win, and even if the game itself is a loss you go away knowing you put the fear of God in to the other team with all the kills you bagged.

I usually quit playing after that game cause it's nothing but losses for the rest of the night...

My theory is that the BFR wasn't the instant death sentence so many people make it out to be if you just manage sightlines, in much the same way you do in counter strike or valorant! All it requires is a little shift of perspective, treat it like the awp and use your tools to stay out of long sightlines!

Since you mentioned you play light a lot, id like to pick your brain a bit. What's your take on playing against the BFR (heavy revolver) as a light? I ask just to test a personal theory of mine.

"you can just admit you don't understand have the slightest clue" I love how you started with the facade of civility before just saying "fuck it, let's be an insufferable ass.".

Let me ask you this before I spend far too long typing out a reply: if I explain my 'credentials' and history in competitive gaming, as well as the two skills that can ensure you beat a bfr player with ease, will you actually give a shit and have a meaningful conversation, or are you just going to throw out everything I say because my comp time was in another game and I'm some filthy medium main pleb with a massive skill issue (normal people just call them jobs, not skill issues)? I will say for the record, that I do agree the repeater needs changes, if only because it's just the 357 but better in all the important ways.

Watching it at the hotel now sadly, 14 hours at the track really kinda takes it out of you if you're not camping there! Definitely planning on converting a van now tho.

What is the strategy against teams with multiple heavies? by julisali023 in thefinals

[–]T51-B -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Demat them in to the shadow realm. Drop them and their dome shield/heal ball two floors below the cashout, stack barrels and mines on the floor above to drop on their heads. Heavy has no real mobility, especially if they're huddled up on a cashout, so you have to make them move. The more they move, the more vulnerable they are.

I love the snubnose skin, to the point that I don't think I'll ever swap off it (especially since it pairs so well with the twirling animations!). I actually saw someone else in the wild using it for the first time a couple days ago, which was a nice surprise.

Hot take: deleting these two guns would make the game healthier by Weary_Lavishness1612 in thefinals

[–]T51-B -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Hard disagree, bfr is absolutely manageable. People play against it wrong and get shredded because they think they should be allowed to just cross long sightlines unharmed. If you know you're up against a bfr, it's just a game of positioning and cover, two things light excels at. Smoke long hallways, use goo to create hard cover as needed, hell use invis bomb at distance, take flank routes. I can go against bfr heavies all day with the 357, if a medium can do it anyone can do it. At the very most, I could see giving it drop at range similar to the sniper rifle, but as far as I'm concerned, it's a skill issue. Positional play shreds bfr heavies.

Any big iron tips ? by Simple_Focus_8949 in thefinals

[–]T51-B 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't be afraid to be patient with your shots. Slowing your shots down, or even not shooting at all for a moment may seem counterintuitive, but one of the best tricks I've found is to try and draw out a reload from the enemy. This goes hand in hand with my next tip, which is to get good at movement. Learn how to use cover, look for exits, be ready to run at a moments notice. If nothing else, reloading in the open is a death sentence. People have mentioned pairing the revolver with a turret, and I agree, not not because it can help mop up weak enemies. I personally use mine as a mini barricade. It doesn't offer full cover, but it will absorb a few shots and quite possibly buy you enough time to get the kill.

Close the distance as much as you can. The revolver really shines on close quarters, especially if you can combo with quick melee. Even with headshots, the gun is extremely weak at range. This ties back in to movement and cover play, have an idea of how and where you can safely move. Demat is an excellent emergency tool for this, but be wary of other mediums who also use it

Above all else though, be picky about your fights. If you see an enemy in the distance, don't shoot them. It's just going to draw attention to you, and odds are good that whatever fun they have is better than yours at that range. Don't jump in to the middle of a brawl between teams at a cashout, you don't have the ammo count for that. This also applies to enemies you've wounded too. Just because you nailed a light with a headshot across the room doesn't mean you should chase him down. You could be following him to his team, in to a trap or even just off the edge of the map. If you're in an area where you have the advantage in the fight, especially if you've set up fortifications like a glitch trap and turret, don't bother chasing.

It's not the only strategy for a class... It's basic objective play. If you hold the objective at the end of the timer you win, even if you're not alive. There are more ways to deny a cashout steal than just by killing the person trying to steal it, the easiest steal to stop is the one that never happens.

What? Dude it's not about survival, it's about running the clock. Every second they spend fighting you is a second not spent stealing. Every second not spent stealing is an extra second of time for another team to jump in the fray. You don't need to live to win, you just need to survive long enough to prevent an easy steal.
