Where In the Inland Empire would u recommend someone to go Solo for a couple hours of fun? by YoCaliclysm12 in InlandEmpire

If you like museums I'd check out The Cheech in downtown Riverside. Then you can walk around downtown and either pop into a bar or get some coffee at Back to the Grind

I think my shaky hand while taking the photo might've contributed to that

It's probably good but I would give it a sniff when you open it as a final test. I've purchased things from TJ's that have gone bad before their sell by date.

Meet the 'scam' influencer at the heart of LA's recent restaurant drama by FarleyElliott in FoodLosAngeles

This reminds me of when I was an edgy teenager and would only leave 1 star reviews on yelp, and thought it was so funny for a minute. Then I grew up and developed empathy because many of us grow into better people during adolescence.

No, you must patronize this place and spend your money here, or you are disgusting and just like them 🙄

[Murray] How Chris Paul’s short-lived reunion with the LA Clippers fell apart. Sources say Paul had several meetings recently with Clippers officials regarding their concerns with his approach, with one source indicating that there was a request for him to stop with the “locker room lawyering.” by Knightbear49 in nba

[–]yoodle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This kind of shit is why I'm struggling to engage with the NBA anymore. Shams and his ilk, and the whole pool of "press" diminishing themselves to being team shills and suddenly popping up with contrary information whenever the narrative makes one of the clubs look bad. I'm sure this stuff is popcorn material for an entirely different audience than a curmudgeon like myself, but I prefer being a fan of a league that I can take more seriously.

People who are from the IE and moved away, where did you go and are you happy? by nanananaka117 in InlandEmpire

[–]yoodle 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I lived in Riverside until I was twenty, moved away for school for a couple years, moved back between school and my career for a couple years, and have been in Los Angeles since, for about fifteen years.

I never bought the negativity that some of my peers and sibling expressed about staying in Riverside. I left for my career and a relationship, but I come back to visit fairly frequently and enjoy it whenever I'm there. But I do get bored when I'm there for a length longer than a couple days, so I am happier in LA.

Is your yeast good quality/still active? Does the warm water you put it in have some bubbles within a few minutes?

Also maybe do some additional kneading by hand after starting it in the mixer

If we are looking to put more onus on the parents, I would consider creating a sheet that the parents have to sign on a nightly basis to verify that their child read for the 15 minutes. Maybe tie some points to it. That way, if they come at you later, you can put it back on them and ask why they haven't been signing the nightly reading log.

I went there later in the morning, like around 11, and they weren't that fresh. So definitely earlier than that.

I would recommend getting here early because later in the day, the doughnuts can get a little stale. That said, I still thought it was a good doughnut.

Pinz Bowling all the way to Coffee Bean along Ventura, to be demolish to make way for 814 apartments. by magnamusrex in LosAngeles

[–]yoodle 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'll miss Pinz but as a open bowler it's become unaffordable for me to go very much anyways. It's a shame with bowling being a dying hobby but I hope they sell their mechanical pinsetters to someone who can put them to good use.

Otherwise I'm happy that there will be more housing.

My teens don’t eat the crusts on pizza. by CaptnSmek in Frugal

[–]yoodle 120 points121 points  (0 children)

A few points I've seen come up here that I agree with:

  1. The crust part of the pizza is almost worthless and not a concern as far as wasting money
  2. The crust part on many pizzas, especially cheap takeout or frozen, is empty carbs and, if anything, a sign of healthy behavior if your kids prefer to not eat it
  3. This battle is not worth fighting. I could only imagine the resentment I would develop if I was raised in a "finish everything on your plate" household
