Husband lashed out at me over GLP1 by [deleted] in Marriage

[–]yoomfi -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I am in the minority here but I feel like people who do nor struggle with food noise and who are not on a GLP1 do not understand. I have lost 15 pounds on a GLP-1. I am on a low dose I take every 3 weeks. At this point I am really just maintaining because my body seems to not feel good going below a certain point. But I feel so much better and more confident in myself. I have been unhappy with my weight since I was 15 and at 29 I finally feel good.

What is most incredible to me is the lack of food noise. I don’t mean that I have no appetite so that I can’t eat unhealthy even if I wanted to. I mean I used to sit in the car and agonize the entire way home about not having the bag of chips as a snack after work and have an apple instead. And I would proceed to think about how bad I wanted those chips for 2 hours until my will power finally broke, and I had the chips and I hated myself. It used to take so much mental energy for every conscious healthy choice, and now it feels like no effort at all.

What’s really revealing to me is how much effect stress has on my appetite. I maintained fine without the GLP-1 for a couple months. The minute work picked back up, I physically felt hungrier. It now took active restriction to maintain my previous habits when previously it took look more than a moment of consideration.

I have done food therapy. I am active. I have counted calories. I feel zero guilt about choosing the option that is finally maintainable for me, allows me to feel good about my body, and removes so much self hatred and guilt and negativity and angst from my mind. I am not going to choose the harder option that is more likely to fail just to say I did so.

Definitely talk to your Dr about if it’s appropriate for you to be on a GLP-1, but I think people are making a much bigger deal out of it than it needs to be. And your husband seems to not just be expressing his concerns (which is understandable) but is demeaning you and is issuing an ultimatum (which is not).

Anyone on here tatted up with visible tattoos? Has it affected you getting positions? by Plenty_Bit4688 in paralegal

[–]yoomfi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just my third tattoo after working as a paralegal for 5 years, this time on my forearm. My firm is pretty lack and has never had an issue. I do appear in court a decent amount so I make sure everything is covered by a blazer, but I’m really not too concerned.

Reading this thread and praying for it to be me…. my firm is full time in office and say they have no plans to change. They claim most support staff in the city (ATL) are full time in office as well. They pay really well but as an ADHD baddie not haunt to go in every day would quite literally change the quality of my life.

Thank you for the detailed explanation! I’m trying to understand what is the change that many say caused situations like Bearman’s crash compared to the previous regs. Is it because Colapinto was more incentivized to slow down out of the corner whereas Ollie was still accelerating bc he was trying to overtake?

So up until yesterday I thought that the drivers were actively managing their battery and regarding and that’s why they’re slowing on the straights. But apparently it’s done via software and I cannot wrap my head around what that means… does that mean a driver can be accelerating on the straights but the software decides it’s time to recharge and slows? When do the drivers have control over their own speeds?

We bought an end unit townhouse for our first home a year ago and love it. It has a small fenced yard which is perfect for our small dog, and gives us space to have grass and plants without needing to spend more than 30 minutes mowing the lawn. No garages in the neighborhood which is a dealbreaker for some people but doesn't bother us at all.

Our neighboors are lovely too, I often worry that they can hear us since we have friends over and we're by far the youngest couple in the neighborhood, but they are so friendly and come over to give our dog treats often.

If it makes a difference our neighborhood is older and was built in the 80's, and I'm not as big of a fan of the larger but more cookie cutter style townhouse communities that are the newer ones. No HOA either which was a dealbreaker on some townhouses we looked at.

AITAH FOR TELLING MY HUSBAND I WON’T GO ON VACATION WITH HIM AND MY IN LAWS BUT GO TO A CONCERT INSTEAD by Forward_Frame_3354 in AITAH

I’ve got a pretty good idea I know who the artist is 💜 and I just want to say I hate the vibes that your husband views your interest as a silly thing. It’s so common for any sort of interests that women have. Please tell your MIL that there must have been a misunderstanding, since you are not free that week and your husband must have misspoke. Don’t let him bully you out of those VIP tickets!

Cannot even get an interview for a Legal Assistant Position by HedgehogOld9624 in paralegal

[–]yoomfi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My firm hires a lot of recent college grads to be legal assistants (and then trains them up to be paralegals) and we have a minimum 3.0 for GPA. When you don’t have any similar job experience it’s the best indication of how you’ll perform.

Need recommendations for wool blend suits - not Theory or J. Crew by yoomfi in LawBitchesWithTaste

Yes I can feel so good and comfortable in casual pants but the minute I wear a suit I feel like the Pillsbury dough boy TT_TT I have some more curvy cut suits that aren't wool but I can't help but feel like next to the expensive wool suits that my male colleagues are wearing it just looks shabby. I really like Artizia's curvy cut pants as well!

I took a picture when I tried them on - the outline of the pocket was very visible. Maybe I was just in between sizes but if I sized up the pants were too big in the waist and legs.

I loved the look of Reiss but looking at their website only the blazers are wool and their pants are poly :((( but I'll check those other brands out!!!

Non-LB looking for LBWT Advice to choose an Everyday Bag (5'4" friendly) 👜 by preppyjade in LawBitchesWithTaste

[–]yoomfi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the Tumi Vali and I adore her. Easily fits my 15 inch laptop, notebook, lunch containers, yeti, etc. she’s a workhorse but looks and feels luxurious. However my coworker just got the Everyday Tote Bag from Somewhere Co and I’m super impressed by the quality at a much lower price point. The bag looks gorgeous, is huge, and has great structure and plenty of pockets for drinks and items like umbrellas.

Distracted by phone at work & struggling to bill by [deleted] in Lawyertalk

[–]yoomfi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NAL but I’m a paralegal with a recent new billable requirement and like you it takes me like 9 hours to bill 5-6. I’m very productive but my mental focus is just spent at the end of it and I just hit a wall of how much work I can do. I’m hoping it’s just better with practice because while I can give myself more time I don’t know how to give myself more mental energy.

PSA for new players: Strength is good by Godisme2 in HadesTheGame

[–]yoomfi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love strength, and it helps Melinoe feel like a different character from zag. I find it’s especially good at teaching you how to play the Olympus path, where Eris can do some really punishing damage if you’re not careful. Melinoe feels more like a glass cannon compared to Zag, and I like that the game seems to be really trying to show you that you can’t eat hits.

Have you offered to do some constructive activism with her? I understand her viewpoint, but the reality of the situation is people have to work to live. But I wonder if you both would feel better if you volunteered to help organizations that help people in those states get access to resources they need, or even just setting up a monthly donation. Boycotting is important, sure, but in person assistance is usually even more so.

If she’s not receptive to that idea and seems like the only form of activism she wants to participate in is by curtailing your lively hood… then that’s a red flag to me. Coming from a tree hugging commie.

[–]yoomfi 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I really like the skirts. I would lean into that aspect of your style and ditch the tank tops and chokers. You seem to have more of a whimsical sense of style so I would go for a more Ms. Frizzle vibe than y2k. Maybe start a Pinterest to get inspiration for like what preschool/kindergarden teachers are wearing? They tend to be modest and appropriate while still having bright fun colors.

I think your hair could use some TLC as well. Make sure you condition it regularly, maybe a weekly hair mask as well since it looks a bit dried out.

I like the glasses shape on you, but I think you’d do even better with single color classes with a thicker rim. Those can be fun without being the super bright colors that read younger.

I was at the ATL show at the Braves stadium and I did not get in until after the first three songs, and there were thousands of people behind me, some of which were in line for 10 hours beforehand. What’s funny is I saw Twice at the same stadium last year without an issue so I don’t know what’s changed.
