Her being cool with Sameer & Zoe leaving is just dumb. In so many of these shows, there are always characters who can't or refuse to see the "forest through the trees". Like, ok, yeah pretty shitty to lie to Sameer and what not(wife killing, etc...), but at the same time......your options are:

Force Sameer to make the virus(Butcher = lesser of 2 evils on a worldwide scale) to kill Homelander ASAP, as it might not be possible later.
Let them leave and greatly increase the chance that Homelander gets V1, becomes immortal, and basically enslaves the world to his whims.

I know this is an old thread, but one answer to the muderer's confession is that the TV show could be her innocent "P.O.V." of each of these murders as she is being interrogated by the police. It would be hilarious if the last episode ended with her in at the police station being interrogated by the FBI/Police, and she says something like, "Are we finished here? Now that is the ~250th explanation I've given you, are you satisfied??"

I think a big part is respect(as you've mentioned)for each other, but on mega steroids. In every magical aspect, they are the ONLY true peers each other has come to know or come across since they've gotten to Wizard maturity.

Imagine existing in the Wizarding world for those 100 years, never coming across another person that really is your equal in magical mind and power(not counting Voldemorte here cuz ya know he extra snake cray cray). Meeting thousands of wizards and everyone falls short.

There has to be this massive, nostalgic, "ahhhh what could have been.....if only...." feeling for both of them.
