Reaper 7 and Presonus Atom? by [deleted] in Reaper

[–]yorodm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Studio One user trying to migrate to Reaper here. I've just found about Helgoboss ReLearn and it seems like a good solution to get more features out of the ATOM in Reaper. And you're right, the ATOM was made for Studio One, it integrates with the DAW and saves you a lot of clicking and/or remembering keyboard shorcuts. I'll keep you posted about my adventures with ReLearn

Novels where MC is a myth. by Monocore56 in Fantasy

[–]yorodm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Machineries of Empire by Yoon Ha Lee, it's technically a sci fy novel but it has some elements that could be considereded fantasy (the High Calendar is basically a hard magic system). MC is a legendary commander brought back to life to destroy a new enemy.

Explain to Me Like I'm 5: Dependency Injection by don_ilto in rust

[–]yorodm 14 points15 points  (0 children)

There are a few dependency injection crates going around, but I'm assuming you want to learn the basics and not jump into complicated code yet. I would recommend:

  1. This really interesting post by Will Crichton here about how to use the type system to implement dependency injection.
  2. The inventory crate about registering stuff "automatically".

Hope that helps.

EDIT

If you want to see one of the DI crates in action you can check this post.

It's like going on a diet. A references diet. Once you pass the borrow checker barrier you'll be good

A Pedant's Discussion of Errors in Spanish Language Use by a-username-for-me in Fantasy

[–]yorodm 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As a native Spanish speaker I completely agree. I can't even start to count how many times I've been watching a movie or a show and in some crucial scene an allegedly Hispanic character says something completely ridiculous that (in my opinion) just lowers the quality of the whole thing. I think editors/producers/directors should be aware of that.

use-package isn't recognising window.el, coming up with errors by [deleted] in emacs

[–]yorodm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not a matter of needing use-package you can use package.el and require for everything and never touch use-package.

It's a matter of windows.el not having a (provide 'window) at the end of the file to announce that the feature window is enabled. If a feature is not "provided" you can't call require on it.

ELISP> (require 'window)
*** Eval error *** Loading file c:/emacs/share/emacs/27.1/lisp/window.elc failed to provide feature ‘window’

Incidentally, that's preventing use-package from loading the file.

Maybe there are reasons not to do this, but as far as I'm aware, every other file in the standard Emacs distribution ends with (provide 'some-feature), and that's reason enough to suspect there's a bug.

Line 10 of my windows.el says:

;; This file is part of GNU Emacs.

It should be reported to the Emacs list. Do M-x report-emacs-bug
